How did The New Frontier get Francine as a hostage?

This something that I kept wondering when replaying the game and I'm surprised nobody has talked about this. But seriously how did they get her as a hostage? Did she leave the gates? Did The New Frontier sneak in their base and if they did then why didn't they grab more people or just shoot up the place right there? What do you guys think? We're any of you just as confused as I was in that scene?

  • I think Francine left the gates and was captured.

  • I got the vibe that she leaves Presscott more often than she should given Tripp's annoyance when she rode in literally at the last second in episode 1. She probably got caught when she was out on one of her runs.

  • Well it was a whole night and day since we last saw her. Francine is a grown woman, must've just left on her own somewhere and got captured by the local New Frontier. Francine probably told them everything they wanted to know as well. Could be this or just because drama for the sake of drama.

  • I think it was just for drama.

Yeah now that I think about it. I remember them talking about how Francine leaves a lot.

  • Probably.

Since we saw her outside the gates in the first episode, I assume she's some sort of scavenger/hunter/scout for Prescott.

Also, can we just point out what Francine said?

"I'm alright, baby. Just give them what they want!"

It's usually the other way around and considering you're out on your own you were kind of asking for this sooner or later, but whatever bitch, I guess Javier will be the selfless one and give himself up for you, right? I do appreciate TellTale removing reasons to sympathise and care about characters. It makes making decisions and handling guilt so much easier.

  • Agreed. Once she said that I didn't give two shits what happened to her after that. I realize she doesn't have any reason to care about Javier and co., but they could have had her say anything else, literally anything else, like something that fit her seemingly nice/brave/confident character.

  • I know we don't get to know Francine better, but already from her first scene where she charged through the gate on her horse, I got the impression that she ventured out a lot.

So it wasn't far fetch for me to believe that she was captured while she was outside.

    The important question is...

Did you feel bad about it when you killed her? Did you feel guilt for killing someone's you know-for-30 seconds wife? No.

Too bad, it's certainly not the game's fault. They sure treat their characters full of care for us to connect with them.

    wait.
  • She lost a poker game to the New Frontier.

  • lol

I had an entire theory about how Bonnie sold her out to the New Frontier, but then I realized it might not have been Bonnie she was riding in on when we first see her, but an actual horse. So now I'm not too sure.

Really? Telltale should really stop using the same models for different things. So confusing.

Also, damn you for editing. :)

  • I don't think they meant for us to feel attached to her. It was basically a way to make Conrad pissed off.

Say it was Tripp that died, there would be more shock value. However, she wasn't a very important character other than to set up the moment.

Tripp, Conrad, Javier... Those guys are all important.

I do wonder how Conrad will die now, I wonder if he'll get a fast death in Episode 3/4/5 or if it will be a more sad death if they build him up.

Sadly, Nick suffered the same fate last season, so let's hope he doesn't get side kicked like Nick during Episode 3/4.

However, they did at least do good with Alvin's last episode, they built him up giving up himself for his group, and I did feel that a lot as I liked him for giving my Clem a juice box earlier on. Haha

  • To be fair, she couldn't of known what they were after or what they'd do.

  • She was probably out on a run and came across the New Frontier

  • What I don't get is why telltale just doesn't show an explanation on how it happened. Like they could've put a scene where Conrad's wife was gona head out and maybe decided to talk to clem about what happened in the bar. And now that I'm thinkin about it, maybe clem thinks of her as someone she can trust so she tells the truth about what happend. This gives both characters a chance to develop you know?
