The story strongly suggest AJ was left in Richmond (now taken by the New Frontier). When Clementine realizes Richmond was run over, the scene perfectly depicts Clementine in a state of panic as she most likely left AJ there with someone she knows and was looking to retrieve him (her entire goal was to get a car to drive but suggest they go to Richmond too when they're all looking where to go), to top it off she has a flashback primarily about AJ and her first encounter with a New Frontier scout.
I only hope that this is true. Actually, according to your facts this could be the case... However, we still have to wait for the 3rd Episode in order to be a 100% sure about this (because at this moment we are 99,999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% sure about this issue ).

AJ was left to be cared somewhere among the New Frontier but hidden. The reason for this is no doubt Clementine would have joined the New Frontier with AJ in tow so if she did go AWOL on them they might have used AJ as a sort of a hostage to threaten her betrayal. So unless he was hidden by maybe some New Frontier members loyal to Clementine he couldn't be harbored by the group.
AJ was left to be cared somewhere that isn't in the New Frontier
One of these choices.
AJ is dead

AJ was raised by wolves or something.
Clementine is trying to get in the New Frontier right now, WHO ARE YOU? But honestly, raising a baby in the apocalypse is a liability, but reproduction has to occur to keep life going right? At least Clem can be an adoptive mother while surviving on her own, she's got it under control (hopefully AJ is fine next episode).
Who would kill a Baby??
RETRO YOUNGIN' ECIT ABOUT TO REMINISCE
This is an excerpt from an old thread I had made around Octobe… morer 2014, discussing my disinterest in AJ.

["Why I Don't Care For AJ."]
A lot of people have been talking about the "AJ situation." Would you leave him? Would you keep him with you?
I, personally, would keep AJ with me as a distraction in case of an emergency. This may seem evil to a lot of people, but amoral and evil are two completely separate things. Keeping Clementine (myself) alive is the primary objective of survival, not burdening yourself with something that isn't yours. I could understand if Clementine had an emotional attachment to AJ. But, AJ is just someone else's child. This means there is no maternal instincts to protect the baby, no formation or connection greater than "it's a baby that needs the safety."

True but remember she said she was leaving on her own after she told Javi she was in the NF. She said that she was leaving the tunnel solo after they got out regardless.

This is kinda what I hope happened.
The only good scenes in season 3 are the ones focusing on Clem and AJ so.....
I feel like he was in Richmond when NF took over and that's why she had a mini panic attack when Jesus said as much.
I know this sounds bad, but I hope he is dead. A baby is nothing but a burden in the apocalypse and puts people in danger.
What are you doing on the forums, Jane? You hung yourself, how are you typing?
I am a ghost. I possessed Clementine in order to type this

Sociopath, got it.
Or possibly he could just be seeing AJ for the poorly written, shoe-horned plot device the little brat is...? Just a guess.
Yes, but even if you "Accept Conrad's Plan" Clementine doesn't leave...
