What running zombies is Javi talking about?

  • Ooh, I'm back with another post for this thread. Zesty. Got a couple of other golden oldies I'm itching to share with you lovely people.

    Around Every Corner

"I've seen enough to know that becoming like Crawford is the beginning of the end. I vote Ben stays with the group!"

This line is one that resonates with me, as it does ring true. When a group starts to become focussed solely on survival, and not on maintaining a group's integrity as a collective, it inevitably will start to fall apart. The delivery of the line by Dave Fennoy is simply awesome, and the message it imparts to the group - and perhaps the player with the decisions they may make - is one that I've applied wherever I go in the Walking Dead Games. That and, y'know, in case I ever have to decide whether to throw someone down a bell tower or not. Hey, you never know!

    No Time Left

"It's going to stay bad out there until it gets better. But it will, one day. Until then, though, don't trust anyone. You have so much more growing up to do. People will see how small you are and try to take advantage of you. Try to get you to do things you shouldn't..."

    "I won't let them..."

    "Good."

While arguably the most morbid piece of advice Lee can give Clementine as he's slowly dying in the jewelry store, it's definitely a great analysis of the world around them. There are lots of sick people out there, and even as he's dying Lee's just thinking about them maybe hurting Clem ; _ ; And Clementine's determined little "I won't let them" is so adorable, even in such a grim scene.

    A House Divided

"What's the most important thing in this world? What does everyone want? Even the gangs. Y'know, what do you think they're all after?"

    "... Safety?"

"Close. C'mon, what's the one thing a guy would walk hundreds of miles to get back?"

    "Family."

"It's a tough world out there without people you can trust."

Okay, so besides this being a repeated message from the first season - with Hershel saying family's important - the scene between Luke and Clem as they're walking to the bridge is just amazing. Especially if you pick something other than "Family" on your first go - I only discovered this on my second playthrough, a long time ago, heh. The way he mentions a guy walking a thousand miles to get his family made me think of two people - Lee and Clementine. Clementine traveling all the way to Savannah with her group to look for her parents, and then Lee racing around Savannah to rescue her. Maybe I'm reading too far into it, though. The other reason I like this scene is that it's some precious brother-sister time with Luke and Clem. (Squeals audibly)

    No Going Back

"Part of growing up is doing what's best for the people you care about. Even if, sometimes, that means hurting someone else."

"I don't want to hurt anyone."

    "It's not that easy."

The role reversal in this scene still hits me with the baseball bat of feels. The way the player looks to Lee for advice, rather than having to give Clementine lessons about the world, is simply amazing. This line is one that's stuck with me for a while, eheh, as it really demonstrates the shifting of the world. Having to teach a little girl that she may have to hurt people to protect the people she cares about, and that being the reality of the world, always hits me pretty hard for some reason. Especially with the guilty look on Lee's face when he tells her that "It's not that easy."

Special Bonus Funny Quote - Vince's Story, 400 Days

"It's hot as hell up in here. 'ey man, how 'bout you open a fuckin' window?"

"It's a prison bus, asshole! The windows don't open!"

The delivery of these lines always has me snickering away in front of my monitor.

I may have gone a little overboard, eheh. Sorry 'bout that...

  • "People out there are always looking for an angle, looking to play on your weakness. They measure you, by what they can take from you. By how they can use you to live." - TV Rick Grimes.

"You've always been there for me, Lee. Always had my back when it mattered. What kind of friend would I be, if I wasn't there for you now? Bitten, or not, I'm with you till the end. You can count on me!" - Kenny.

"Listen Dammit! You go outside, you risk your life. You take a drink of water, and you risk your life. And nowadays you breathe, and you risk your life.

Every moment now, you don't have Andy choice. The only thing you can choose I'd what you're risking it for.

Now I can help make these people feel better, I can help them hold on a while longer. That's reason enough to risk mine." - Hershel Greene.

"The world we know is gone, but keeping our Humanity, that's a choice." - Dale.

"I gotta shave this shit!" - Negan.

  • I love that quote from Dale. People act like there's no choice, that they have to do these terrible things, but they don't. The only thing stopping them from being good people is themselves.

Yeah, I always did like that exchange. I just wish it went into playing a part in the perspective of Luke's character more.

  • "Oh, I'm sure after less than a day you two are just soul mates."

How did I forget that line? It's a hilarious lampshade!

  • I dunno, I really like the line you can say as Clementine after you tell Sarah that you will be her friend and she asks you if you "promise to be her friend forever", and you can answer with "I cant promise that, I'm sorry", I think it perfectly illustrates how I feel Clementines character to be at that point, she wants to be friends, since she is still a good kid, but after Lees death, she has realized that you cant promise anything in this world, since your promise doesnt mean anything if you end up dead

  • "I don't know who you are or what you did. Let's say things don't get better back in the cities. Or they get worse before they do. You're going to have to depend on the honesty of strangers if you're going to make it. And if those same people get to question yours, you're going to be in trouble."

I took this quote to heart when I played the game for myself. Honesty was key, and it kept a lot of people alive. For a while longer, at least.

"They're all gunna die Clementine, don't let them take you down with them." - Jane 2k14. This wasn't actually used in amid the ruins, but said in the 'next time on the walking dead' section of in harms way. I really think it's iconic, however many people will think it's horrible.

  • "Some decisions, you make them in a split second and then have to carry them for the rest of your life"

    Javi's best line on ANF.

  • Clementine: "Duck is just always blaming me for stuff."
    Lee: "Like what?"
Clementine: "Putting a bug on his pillow."
    Lee: "..Did you do that?"
    Clementine: "...Yes."

Clementine: "His name was Lee. He taught me how to survive, he taught me how to shoot a gun, he is the reason I keep my hair short".

Lee: "Yeah, but part of growing up is doing what's best for the people you care about. Even if sometimes.. that means hurting someone else."
Clementine: "I don't want to hurt anyone."
    Lee: "It's not that easy."
    Clementine: "I'm scared, Lee."
Lee: "What can I tell you to make it better?"
Clementine: "That you won't leave me."
Lee: "Oh, I wouldn't do that. I promise. Everything's gonna be all right."

Kenny: "I'm really glad to have met you, Clementine."

Kenny: "She left me. Our son. People that cared about us. I forgive her, but.. that doesn't make it any less wrong. You don't just.. end it because it's hard. You stick it out and you help the folks you care about."

Kenny: "Listen, okay? Listen. This is your chance, for you and this boy. I don't trust myself to keep you two save, not anymore. Please, I'm begging you. Please stay here. Stay here where it's save. Where you two will have a chance."
Clementine: "No, no no. Why are you doing this?"
Kenny: "Because it is the only way. For both of you. Think about Alvie here. Please Clem, just do as I'm asking. This one last time."
Clementine: "No. We're leaving. All of us, together."
Kenny: "Clem, please. It's save here..."
Clementine: "Stop, okay? We're not staying, so just stop. That's that."
Edith: "Sounds like.. she means business.."
    Kenny: "Yeah, yeah it does."
Clementine: "Come on. We are leaving."
Kenny: "You're as stubborn as a damn mule."
Clementine: "Yeah? Wonder where I got that from."

Kenny: "You know. First time I saw you holding AJ, it just looked so natural. Somewhere up there, his mama is looking down on you. Greatful for what you're doing. Always putting him first."
Clementine: "You've done as much for AJ as I have. Rebecca would be greatful for you too."
Kenny: "Yeah. But you are the only mama he's got. Protective, loving, caring. All the things a good parent needs to be and all at your age. But parenthood is a hell of a motivator though, heh. That's for sure. That kinda love.."
    Clementine: "It's worth fighting for."

Kenny: "Life doesn't mean much without people you can relate to. Sarita always said >Family is what you make it<. She was right. I'm sorry for all this sappy shit. I guess I'm just.. happy. Huh, first time in a while."
Clementine hugs Kenny: "We've got each other. As long as we have that, we'll be okay."
