He kind of gives me Ben 3.0 vibes to be honest. I guess I don't like him because he keeps getting snippy with me, and because he seems interested in Clementine.
I don't hate him I disliked because gabes charecter is unrealistic at all like how do you survive the apocalypse for 4 years and you're still a whiny little bitch that can't be a man and make a stand for something??? It's telltale's fault not gabe
From what I have seen Clem only give two shits about AJ and Javier.
Perhaps Javier gave her the Lee/Christa/Kenny vibes, someone she can rely on and have as family/care taker.
I don't hate Gabe, I think he has potential of becoming a good character. It's just the amount of people shipping him and Clem that's annoying and making me dislike him. He's gonna have to prove himself to get Clem to even look at him. (Personally, and I might be in the minority, but the only person I can see Clem hooking up with is Carl.)
I'm not. As you can no doubt tell, most people were far more interested in complaining and putting down Gabe for subsidiary things than actually discussing things that involve his actual character; there were a few who actually addressed the character himself in positive and negatives, but there was a massive overabundance of the former. Thankfully, it's died down for the most part after Above the Law provided some actual material worth talking about and made efforts to address many issues and criticisms people generally had.
Yeah, Gabe is a character that has a lot of potential. Unlike most teens/kids shown in the game, he wants to prove himself and stop running (he's like the Season 2 version of Carl from the show). Yeah, there's flaws to his character too. The only thing that's making me dislike him is the constant, annoying shipping of him and Clem.

The whole situation was because of Clem, if she wasn't there, Gabe's life wouldn't be in danger. Don't twist it around to make it seem like she didn't care.

One thing you gotta remember is that Clementine did say, before Conrad made that threat "If you wanna shoot me, shoot me." She was obviously more comfortable with herself being killed than Gabe. Also Clementine already said that she was going to leave once they reached the tunnel's end for her own safety anyway. Besides, even if Clem wanted to help, she knew from the second Conrad made that threat that the situation was getting out of hand and was NOT gonna end well no matter what she did. Gotta understand it was a pretty FUCKED UP situation to be in. As far as Clementine was concerned Running Away was the only viable option.

He is a whiny little bitch, the typical annoying teenager, probably the new Ben or the new Nick of season 3, even Clementine has more balls … morethan him. I always keep wondering how is it that people like him survived that long in the apocalypse and other people, braver, tougher, smarter didn't
What? No... Gabe hes a great guy, great personality, brings a lot of positivity, sex icon (just like his dad, no wonder David got Kate) clem… moreentine starting to feel it too, in other words most handsome character in the game a part from David. XDDDDDDDDD
Did I forget anything?
Its not just the Clem thing that i dont like although it plays a large role but i dont like that hes a crybaby and hes annoyingly useless other than to be another burden for the player. Another thing is that its real dissapointing to have yet another female character that has to have a love interest. Its not only clichè but its degrading to her character and what she has become. You spend your time molding Clem into this hardened badass survivor jus to fall into this bs relationship in the apocalypse. With all the shit Clem has been through with losing loved ones and that luke/jane fuck up that got alot of sarah killed, she should know better

That's the issue though, he's too closely similar to what any one of us would find by walking into a Hot Topic or wondering into Jayden Smith's Facebook page. If we're meant to truly get into the mindset of a character like Gabe this far into such a cataclysmic event, the first step is to not write him with the same methods and techniques used to write Clementine back in season 1 when the whole zombie disaster was still a freshly developing event, nicely paralleling any developmental milestones a character went through with the disaster.
No longer is it a freshly developing headline and so no longer should a teenager be acting as if laying in an obviously occupied shed just cause it's more comfortable than a van that can be moved from danger in a moments notice would be preferable.
Gabe is yet another case of "child character written as a child and not as an actual person."
People keep on saying this and I still don't understand it. Gabe has proven himself useful. Small moments like helping Javi move the dumpster and helping Javi & Clem block the door in the train. And even if those didn't happen the only real mistakes he's made is pulling a gun on Conrad and messing up during Kate's surgery and even then unlike Ben and Nick nobody died because of a mistake he made, even if Javi tells him to shoot Conrad. I daresay not even Clementine can claim that nobody died because of a mistake she made.
I'll disagree but if you want to call Gabe annoying I can see why you'd feel that way but to call him useless or comparing him to Ben or Nick is to be wrong.
It's because Ben is an cheap shortcut to describe a character people feel was useless/annoying, that's all. Though the fact pretty much every boy character was portrayed in a mostly negative light may also have something to do with that, which is opposite to one of the main factors as to why I actually liked Gabe myself.

If you don't mind me asking, if he is Ben 3.0 than who was Ben 2.0?
Nick.
So are we going to ignore the fact that Clem said "I'm just...gonna go." When Conrad held Gabe at gunpoint?
Yeah, apparently so. You're literally the first person I saw mention that.
Isn't this mean that clem don't give two shits about him
Well that feels good for me that the clem that i want hell yeah

I'm surprised no one brought it up...

I liked how in ep 3 he refuses to abandon David if Javi chooses to. I got some respect for him for that.

Gabe saved Kate's life in the shootings. He put his own life at risk.
and don't make it seem like she dose
U mean when Javi kisses Kate. And THAT was Mariana who said that. Not Clem.
I think she kinda does. There's a vid with the Full Dialogue of their first conversation on YouTube somewhere. Pretty cute scene actually.
I say "Give the boy a chance, Clem." And I'm thinking that this may very well be a dialogue option in an upcoming episode assuming it's determinant.
Such a witty reply.
He's a whinny little brat who're we're just supposed to care for because he's Javier's nephew. There's genuinely little to like him for.
Honest mistake, I'm sure.

No, I meant what I said. If you flirt with Eleanor Clem will say "gross."
One word. Luck. Also being with people who protect you probably doesn't hurt.
I don't understand either. Also on a sidenote, I would have nothing against Clem and Gabe being together.
yeah she can actually say "gross" if u flirt with eleanor
I like him, he can be naive but ive never hated him-hes a teenager.
Which is funny because Gabe is one of the more uncanny characters in part because his face doesn't seem like it belongs on someone his age.

Are you referring to Kate or Eleanor?
People dislike him because he is no perfect super kid like Clementine or Mariana, who more acted like clever adults.
Gabe reflects a real teen.

That's the best way of putting it, yes.
Gabentine
Because he's a wimp.
I hate Gabe because he's like a prototype cliche version of Ben...
... who's somehow even more useless.
I personally don't think Gabe is more useless than Ben. Y'know he indirectly caused the deaths of Doug/Carley, Duck, Katjaa, Brie... ect.

Ben was a big coward and caused the entire cast of season 1 to die.
He was also a lying piece of shit.
But Ben was more friendly.
Gabe is brave, he even put his own life in danger to save Kate during the shootings.
Only Gabe is somehow moody.
Well wat actual 13-year old kid isn't?
I can see Gabe is an honest person.
Strsnge to compare Gabe to Ben.
I think Gabe is just Gabe.
I actually like him. He just needs to have a big scene to prove himself worth of our love (but not's Clem's love... not until she's thirty).
It's because Ben is an cheap shortcut to describe a character people feel was useless/annoying, that's all.
