What is your favourite episode of TT's TWD?

I think for me it has to be episode 5 of season 1.

I felt like I had been punched in the gut by the end and was emotional. It doesn't happen to me that often, so I think it's when the game became one of my favourites of all time. Plus I love the song they played at the end. Absolutely perfect for the game.

Starved For Help (Season 1, Ep 2), forever and always

  • edited April 2017

A House Divided hit all the emotional beats for me, and much more, but I'll always have a special place for both season finales.

  • Starved for help most definitely, since it was chock-full of character development, hubs, choices, frightening antogonists, and it also marked the beginning of the heated Kenny-Lilly scenario, which really cemented whose side you were on in their eyes.

I've also got a bit of a soft spot for A New Day as well, simply because it was a brand new experience and we really got the feeling that none of the characters knew what the hell was going on. I dunno, something about that whole struggle for survival in the beginning of the outbreak is really sobering for me. That whole slow-building tension and uncertain atmosphere had always been one of my favorite parts of TWD.

I'll give an honourable mention to No Going Back, since I got to spend some more bonding moments with Jane, and also No Time Left because, well, them feels.

  • Episode 2 of both seasons. Both are atmospheric, mysterious, and full of intrigue. Best stories hands down.

  • "No Going Back' (Season 2 Episode 5)...don't judge me.

  • Besides the stellar season 1 finale, I got to say All That Remains is very high on that list.

Too bad the remaining 4 episodes were either mediocre or just plain awful and nothing was extrapolated on or made into a worthwhile investment of nearly 9-12 hours of gameplay across some of the most depressingly grim and sloppily executed plot-points to ever be shat into a game.

But boy were those first 2 hours fucking brilliant.

  • The finales from both seasons are my all-time favourites.

  • No Time Left, but like 90% because of the ending 3 acts.

The way it shifts so greatly in tone from adrenaline pumping slaughtery gore fest of pure badassery, to a deafeningly quiet and extremely tense conversation and revelation to just raw emotion is impressive in how well they flowed together, and even more so how well each was done.

Season 1: episode 5, the chapter broke my heart where Lee sacrifised himself to save Clem.
Here I felt the strong father/daughter bond Lee and little Clementine had.
I lost oceans of tears when little Clementine had to shoot or leave Lee behind.

  • Overall? Not really sure. But I do have a favorite of each season.

    Season 1: No Time Left

    Season 2: A House Divided

    Michonne: Take No Shelter

Season 3: Above the Law (So far.)

Season 1 episode 2. All season 1 eps were high quality but if I had to choose i'd choose that one because of Kenny, Lee and Lilly all at the heart of the game.

  • Yes 100%

  • Same.

Episode 2 of both seasons. Both are atmospheric, mysterious, and full of intrigue. Best stories hands down.

  • Easily Starved for Help.

  • The finale to Season 1. Its a masterpiece, and feature of the most iconic telltale game moments ever. That ending still resonates with me.

  • I don't know if I can pick a single favorite, but Starved for Help and A House Divided are definitely the most enjoyable for me. Sure, All That Remains was a good start to Season 2, No Time Left (with isn't complete without Ben) is some of the best stuff in the [game] series, and I'm hoping I can add either Above the Law or Thicker than Water when all is said and done to at least the list of honorable mentions, but those two are up there for me.

    S1 E2 is a masterpiece.

    enter image description here

  • There's no question in my book, easily No Time Left.

  • No Time Left is in my opinion, the best episode Telltale has ever created. Everything in that episode was focused with one goal: Find Clementine before Lee dies. It made the experience even more tense and the ending ever more tragic.

  • "Long Road Ahead". A major turning point episode. It had a good sense of movement at last after being at the motor inn for so long, the bandits are some of my favorite antagonists, incredibly effective and hard-hitting deaths, some of the most gripping sequences, perfect blend of action sequences and slower-paced reflective sequences, some major revelations and new plot threads that dominate the narrative for the rest of the season, and every single character gets development as well as a storyline, be it major or minor.

  • My favorites might have to be (in no order):

    Starved for Help (S1, E2)

    Long Road Ahead (S1, E3)

    A House Divided (S2, E2)

    and

    No Time Left (S2, E5)

But, really. I love all of S1, S2 and Michonne. But I don't really like S3 that much. E3 was better, though.

  • Favorite episode is Starved For Help (S1E2). So many amazing moments and the meat locker scene was one of the most intense moments in a TT game.

  • S1 E2 because IIIIIITTTTSSSSSSS OVVVVEEEEEEEERRR!!!

  • Loved S1 E3

    My top 3 eps:

    1) S1 - E5 - No words other than the feels were real with this one. Having Lee go against the clock to rescue the last person he cared about
while slowing dying made for some truly golden moments like the marsh house scene which made him become my favourite
gaming character ever. The final scene with clementine also made it easy to realise that this is an experience like no other media
had managed to effect me personally .

    2) S1 - E3 - This was the true start of the emotional harsh roller coaster that the rest of the series continued. From Carly, Duck and Katjaa
having pretty unexpected emotional deaths and the beginning of Lee and Clem's "team" bounding the ep overall had great
character development and drove the story forward effectively.

    3) S1 - E2 - Introduced new interesting locations like the farm with fresh characters like the cannibals/bandits, Ben and Mark. It also gave
Lee pretty good character development with him finally given tough choices this new world offered like who to feed etc. but also
the chance to go down a darker path of choosing weather or not to kill. Also starts one the biggest main core parts of the game
which is either having Kenny love or hate you.

  • In my opinion, A House Divided followed closely by Above The Law and Starved For Help.

    • Pacing- You got the introduction of Carver, learning more about the cabin group, the bridge incident, the reunion with Kenny, the tension between the cabin group and the lodge group, the whole knife situation, and the herd. You get so invested in the "cabin group vs lodge group" tension, that when Carver reappears, it catches you off-guard.
    • Development for the cabin group.
    • Choices felt like they mattered- the episode started off differently depending on the previous episodes ending(which really wasn't in any other episode up to this point), multiple lines of dialogue depending on your Season One choices. The determinant character fates were based on dialogue, having two determinant characters, etc.
    • Season Two and 400 Days- When Bonnie is first seen outside of the lodge, it got me really excited that 400 Days would actually have an impact on Season 2, unlike what many people thought before this episodes release.
  • Hahaha put the gun down bitch had me dying! I literally repeated the scene several times just to hear that.

    Also:

    Hey Ben
    Hey
    Seeya

Haha this is why Season 1 was the best, for things like this

Best of S1: Starved for Help - Episode 2
    Best of S2: A House Divided - Episode 2
Best of ANF so far (ep1-3)... eh. Episode 3? It was still a shit episode... I don't really have a favourite ANF episode.

  • For me Starved For Help was intense and i loved the whole story that the group were desperate for food and thought they had found their safe haven with the St John's only to discover what was really going on. Really intense and atmospheric with the rainy night time scene near the end. Long Road Ahead was the most emotional and surprising for me. I just got so addicted to the game at this point.

This for some reason is not a common choice but my fav is probably Around Every Corner. I just enjoyed the general direction the story was heading and them mystery surrounding who was on the radio talking to Clem, the mission to Crawford was exciting, i imagined myself in a group and taking part to get the things we needed for the boat and meds for a friend. The intense scene escaping Crawford up the bell tower was great with Lee using Hershel's unlimited shotgun ammo had me laughing. Then the shock moment Lee was bitten.

Also as this was the longest Telltale episode was another reason i enjoyed it a lot. Damn you have no idea how much i miss these days!

  • What the fuck do you mean? Lee? What the fuck do you mean? DON'T YOU DARE WALK AWAY FROM ME LEE!

  • Lol really?

    400 Days

  • Tough one. Not sure that I can choose between the finales of S1 and 2, S1 episode 1 and the first two episodes of S2 aren't far behind them though.

  • Season 1: Around Every Corner or No Time Left (As much as Starved For Help was very well written, I just didn't get much excitement from it for some reason)

Season 2: A House Divided or In Harm's Way (Not sure why)

Season 3: Above The Law (currently)

    Bonus -
    Michonne: Give no Shelter

    400 Days: Russell's Story

  • S1: Starved For Help
    400 Days: Vince's story
    S2: A House Divided
    Michonne: What We Deserve
A New Frontier: Above The Law(so far)

  • A House Divided

  • Season One: A New Day and Starved For Help (I cant choose)
    Season Two: A House Divided
    Michonne: Give No Shelter
A New Frontier: Above The Law (for now).

  • No Going Back. Damn episode made me cry. And from the music to how human the characters felt in this episode really sold it for me. Also Loved Starved for Help and No Time Left as close seconds.

  • Starved For Help, no question.
