Am I the only one who thinks this romance is really one sided? Clem doesn't seem interested in Gabe whatsoever in my opinion. I feel like she's a lot more mature than he is (and she also knows it.) Like in all the scenes they had together, I feel like Clem purposely worked her charm so that Gabe wouldn't be a thorn in anyone's eye.. I don't think she's romantically interested in him. I do think she deserves all the love and romance though, but I don't want her to end up with the first guy her age she meets "just for the sake of it".

Alot of movies are doing that. Have you seen Divergent, Stranger Things, Hunger Games, Sky Kids, Inuyasha, ETC. They all focus on relationships between minors. Divergents, in the book, Four is about 20 years old and tris is about 15-16, awkward.

Well, apparently, Mariana is literally a modelswap of Clementine from what I remember someone saying, just a little taller, plumper, and with different apparel and hair. Plus, as I guess early on and pointed out in a previous comment, Clementine was more or less destined to replace her, a thought that Thicker than Water definitely drove home.
But in the context of that thought of mine, it was more about Gabe naming something after her or maybe even meeting another girl that reminds him of her. His bond with her is one of the many character subplots that isn't very utilized.
