The lengthy "Alright" list is what keep this Season's character department so fucking down. These characters were either given a crushing little amount of screentime (Lingard), very little background (Eleanor, Conrad, Lingard, Ava, Clint) (and I know many of these characters have little hints of pre-apocalypse background, like Ava was in the army, Clint was a botanist, Eleanor had a family she "lost", etc. but it's so vague it's hardly substantial, not to mention that post apocalypse background is usually more interesting and character defining and such is only present in Lingard when they mention he lost a lover, but it's also not very delved into) or a very brief or unimportant role in the main plot (Eleanor, Lingard, Ava, Conrad) which gives a considerable blow to your investment on such character.
I firmly believe having some hubs to talk to these characters or even discover stuff about them indirectly (like a brief hub in Richmond to find out more about The Winter which is such an integral part to our antagonists motivations, or a hub with Conrad and a little more about his relationship with Francine in episode 2 to make people more apprehensive of just murdering him, etc.) would've helped this Season greatly.

Episode 4 made me feel attached to all of the characters, but these are my favorite.
i don't hate her, in fact, i feel that episode five may give me an opportunity to like her. i just dislike how she constantly tries to get the fuck away from david, and i would be able to relate to her if i really knew what he did so horribly wrong in the past. i also dislike how she hits on javi when she is aware that david is involved in the situation. i understand that she doesn't love david anymore, but does she have to hit on his fucking brother?

Eleanor literally went to the person I said I was going to shoot and snitched. She told her I was gonna murder her. She gave me a death sentence so she could feel safe instead of doing literally anything else. I choose to save Tripp so that I would look like the good guy to her while letting her be punished for betraying me (and Tripp).
I wouldn't say I HATE Kate, but she doesn't respect me when I tell her I'm not interested, and it gets annoying. Her wanting to leaving Richmond based on a hunch felt silly, even though it was actually corrupt. And I generally find her a bad role model for the kids.
Lingard comes off as not sympathetic at all. I get why. He's been through a lot of bad stuff. But he is still frustrating (not giving Clem info without assisting in his suicide, basically telling Clem that AJ isn't important, him bein totally high off whatever drugs he takes all the time, etc) My opinion might change in ep 5, but he's been causing me nothing but problems.

I just threw him on there, I guess. The fact that Kate seemed vaguely paralyzed by recognizing, her account on what type of person has, and having to break the news to Gabe is an important piece of why that flashback was so amazing.
