Am I the only person who thinks ANF was much better than season 2???

  • I think ANF is better

  • ANF should have been better, however the final product of ANF was just really bad.

  • Her new hair makes her look like a lesbian and I'm not okay with that

Really? I agree with most of what you said but a bad haircut or a character's sexuality will ruin your experience that much? I thought it was funny, she tried to look all badass and instead asked for a shitty haircut.

Season 2 has hubs, a lot more control over the character, characters who dont come off as generic , better style, better story, WAY better writing, and it's more exciting. And it focuses on clem. Oh and longer episodes

  • Well, all but two of those things are true.

  • I didn't think season 2 was a "trainwreck", but I do think ANF is better written than Season 2 and Michoone.

  • When you play the game as a whole/ all the episodes in one sitting... I think that you will see the pacing (main problem in almost every game, movie, TV-shows etc.) is off.

I mean, just look at how many locations/settings you visit in this spin-off, you visit at least 6+ locations in one episode alone.

  • Season 1 is obviously the best. I think season 2 was far superior to ANF. I didn't care about any of the characters except for javi, clem, and gabe. Kate's death scene was emotional but I still didn't care too much. In S2 I cared about clem, luke, kenny, jane, and many more.

Season 2 had much more interesting choices in my opinion. Especially the final choice. That was telltale at its very best. ANF was just...I don't know. Wasn't impressed by any of the episodes except the last one. They had some good moments in episode 5 and there was some good payoff for the very strong family theme of this season.

Season 2 had its issues. Episode 4 was definitely a bit weak. However, I think it is far better than ANF in nearly every way.

  • At some areas, Season 2 was a lot worse than ANF.

At some other areas, ANF was a lot worse than Season 2.

From my point of view, I'd say both were bad but with different reasons on why they sucked.

  • Kenny had shit tons of devolpment.

Season 2 had Luke and Kenny for me. (and I liked Sarah) Season 3 only had Javier that I cared about. (cared about David but ep5 ruined hi

  • It was a better season with more branching decisions. All though, TWD season 2 isn't a strong season so that's not saying much. This season was more action oriented which works with these new characters. Conrad survives for the whole season which is a simple but noticeable difference.

It does have some major flaws though: it doesn't finish it's story and fails to give depth to it's other side characters.

The worst part of ANF is it manages to fail at portraying Clementine even more than TWD2. It didn't even have her as a protagonist but she was even more inconsistent. She was also used negatively to affect choices in the game which shouldn't of been related to Clementine.

  • Tripp felt like Kenny 2.0 to me

    Eleanor is a S N A K E I hate her

Mariana was sweet but barely lasted long so I don't really count her

I only like that Conrad is quad determinant. His actual character bores me.

    Max is ok

Mixed bag on Kate. she's cool sometimes and sometimes she causes trouble for Javier

I would say I enjoyed Ava for what little we saw of her

  • I don't know, I really think there are better ways to convey that sense of loss rather than not focusing on it at all and skipping straight to the next action set piece without a lot of down time and it doesn't feel like anyone is in a real rush in Ep.4 honestly until the very end.

For me, S2 just didn't emphasize the importance of quiet time enough and when it did, it was WAY too late for me to even care anymore because everyone was already dead or forgotten about.

This. The only character I would've wanted to talk to at that point was Arvo.

They both suffer from similar issues.

More emphasis on action and spectacle rather than character driven down time and character development.

Half of the cast feel like plot devices, too much reliance on fan service, inconsistent characterization, uneven pacing, and having a rushed feeling about them.

I will say that S2 at least was trying a little bit and actually had an ending while ANF just sort of ends without much pay off for either character.

Season 2 is a dumpster fire

  • I agree that it should've had more quiet/peaceful moments to let characters be human and allow them to grief/ tell their goodbyes, but sadly, nothing's perfect. S2's dealt with rewrites, so it's possible that some stuff was cut off or changed completely.

  • ANF had so much potentially to explore with choices that actually mattered more often. I believe TellTale could have done a much better job with character development, dialogue, their choices till the end, and other sorts of improvements needed.

ANF really didn't feel like a season more like an added on DLC to tell another person's story with their family like 400 days. Nothing wrong with this, but Clementine's role in the story had hardly any impact in the main storyline other than trying to find AJ, and the rushed deaths of Kenny, Jane, and (R.I.P) finger.

So why not go all out with the story/ending if it won't be continued?? Unless TT does some sort of DLC with ANF, or will be added on to S4 (Which is unlikely), then what was the point of this season, other than rushed content? So rushed and all over the place just felt unnatural tbh. Hope TT can improve on their newer characters consistency, and main choices within the upcoming content.

  • I liked ANF more than Season 2! Not by much, but still thought it was a 7.5/10, while S2 was a 7/10.

  • Which two? Hubs and generic characters?

Let's not forget you visit 6+ locations in a 70 MINUTE EPISODE. Pretty much 10-12 minutes per location, damn Telltale.

  • Season 2 bring us Kenny back and have playable Clementine, On the other side we have A New Frontier which kills Kenny and had like 15 minutes of flashbacks, sooo... it's simple math, S2 was better than ANF by far and ANF sucks.

  • ANF is much better than s2,in my opinion.

  • Season 2 is a masterpiece compared to ANF.

I just want the level of TWD S1 back, so how about telltale go back to a game impacted by choices More roaming too, nearly all of ANF was just dialogue, the QTE's were shocking. Give me a puzzle damn it! I want to figure out how to get this train running again, or find a way to distract a horde of walkers to get the keys we need to escape!

  • In S2 everyone just died which wasnt fun but for me it was better than ANF because it was more emotional. In my ANF ending literally nothing happened. Only David died

  • I've replayed the second season more times than I can count. I have it on the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Android. I've played it on all those platforms many times as each episode was released, ,making different choices on each.

A New Frontier though I've finished it on PC and uninstalled it from my phone after episode 3 (and that was one of the better episodes.)

It's not even as if I think the season is a bad one, the quality varies wildly but it did manage to finish on a high. I know I'll be repeating myself here but I do think this is in part down to the loss of the Rewind option. I would rewind the first two seasons to replay favourite moments and Telltale usually put the saves right near where I wanted to go back to.

Perhaps because I could easily go back to those favourite points while waiting for a new episode made me feel more involved with the previous seasons and improved my impressions of them?

  • Season 2 had a great first half, season 3 a great last half, they both had their bad moments tho.
