Why did Telltale want us to hate David?
I really liked his development in this game until Episode 5 when he broke Fern's arm, determinantly killed her husband in front of her, wanted to let Richmond residents die to flee with his family and fought his brother despite the fact that I've been on his side all the time and never touched Kate. This is one of the reasons why From The Gallows is the worst Walking Dead episode of all time. Also, they made most of the players have him dead in their games, with him alive, he is still not appearing at the end of the episode. Why couldn't Telltale just let us have a good brothership between Javier and David? Kate and Gabe are the worst members of Javier's family.

If they wanted us to hate him, they got me. I actually headcanon David as a villain in New Frontier.
To be fair, while he was apparently never meant to be the Big Bad to begin with, he had all the ingredients established early on already mixed. Whether it was Badger, Mason, or Episode4!Joan who was seemingly set up outdo him in that regard, Telltale apparently just love their angry dad climaxes too much.
Though him not showing up at Kate's funeral was obviously a way to avoid having to animate him when he has a 75% deathrate.
I kinda enjoyed that david and gabe both died
Both of them were such pains in the ass
Ikr, he lives in 1 ending. In that ending you can kick him out too.
I got 25% live rate on my first playthrough. I was like "Where da fewk he go?"
Because you need a conflict to keep the series entertaining, and without Kenny what is best if not brothers disagreement?
Honestly, I started liking him a lot more when he broke Fern's arm. It was badass.
In every season they want us to hate someone, like Larry or Kenny in season one or Nick in season two or just David but look on they, they have good intentions, they are not bad. David stop carre about people in richmond because he feel betrayed and for him family was the most important, things he did, did for the family becaue he loved them even this things are not alright
I don't think they wanted us to hate David. They wanted a conflictual relationship between two brothers and with that making it difficult for the player to be completely on his side or completely against him. That's not specific to the fifth episode... For the whole game they worked hard for us to have mixed feelings about David ( though it didn't work with me ). It started with multiple perspectives on the character through multiple characters. It ended with him seen at his worst but also given a chance to explain how he felt.
If they wanted us to hate him so bad they wouldn't have given us the flashback while you promise your father to be a good brother or the heartfelt moment on top of that building.
Rather than hate I believe they wanted some people to oppose him and some other to defend him...
You hate him ? That's your feelings based on your priorities. I don't hate him at all. In fact, I find great pleasure discussing about his character. I feel like David and Javier's relationship was better done conflictual. It felt real. There was jealousy, trust, grudge, support, conflit and love. It surprised me as well when David attacked me when I rejected Kate and constantly took his sides, but on retrospective I think it makes sense. He wasn't attacking Javier alone at that moment. He was desperate and scared to lose yet one more person after yet one more betrayal. He wasn't thinking straight anymore.
It's unfortunate that you hate him, the episode, and ANF as a whole. I consider myself lucky to be able to appreciate the game and it's characters. David and Javier's brotherhood will definitly be up there among the best brotherhood I have ever seen depicted in a fictional universe. I don't think they wanted us to hate David more than to give us something to debate about, but if they DID want us to hate him, then that's complete failure.
Because TT hate him. And because they doesn't care for the Importance of bloodline and your family bloodline.
I some how felt telltale wanted badly to make poeple cut the brotherhood relationship and some how felt like TT wanted to make the player to give no shit about the bloodline just for love intrest of out sider who is your brother like TT wanted to force you to fuck your brother life, that why they kept giving the players who sided with david and be a good brother to him all the time a lot of shit outcomes in episode 5 and they changed david acting and made him fight you no matter what and they changed kate acting so they make her right and made david just some raging cunt and they even made kate say to you "to keep your distance " seriously? My javi kept his distance for 5 years he never make a move to her and she was the one who was looking for his dick and know she tell him keep your distance just cut the shit TT and pull your self togather if you want to make an outcome make a reasonable one not rushed shit.
I don't hate him as much as I hate Kate and Gabe. How come there was no option to have both Kate and Gabe killed?
Sorry to hear that pal.
I agree some of the outcomes just don't make sense.
Fo example the scene when clem tells javier because he shot conrad, then she trusts him and can"always depend on him"
That totally freaked me out
I mean wtf??? She barely knows javi!
Really telltale? You wanted to make javier a father figure like lee???
Nah i don't buy it
I find him alright. Too bad terrible writing made him look like a retarded villain.
just like kenny, being an irrational asshole is not badass
You must be real lady killer, Mac.
It is for me.
Telltale is a dick to the players who chose to side with David all the time.
Episode 5 was so bad even david friends didn't try help him Fern was suppose be one of his people but she didn't come to his rescue and one of his guy try kill his wife smh
David is awesome, beating the shit out of that pussy Javier and shit!
Clem said that she trusts Javi because he shot a person who has going to kill her and held a gun to her friend's head with Gabe and Kate I wouldn't say I hate them hate is such a strong word Kate I couldn't stand her she tried to ruin David's life and take his kids away? who does that? as for Gabe I don't really hate him he isn't the best character to come but believe me he won't be the worst this is TellTale were talking about
If Telltale truly hated David, then he would not have an ending where he lived, there would be little to no option to try and side with him throughout the series, and there wouldn't be an option to have a 'Heartfelt' relationship with Javier as shown in the credits.
Honestly, I think David had it better than some other characters throughout the series.
I still think it would have been a better season if David had been the main character. It would've included vast opportunities for hub areas. Getting to know Clint, Joan, and Lingard would've made the betrayals far more powerful and personal. A lot more people would become attached to Gabe. They could've still included a complicated love story if they wanted - you could misguidedly fight for your wife back [ not necessarily be able to convince her ], pursue Ava in the four year gap and be torn when Kate reappears, or if he were also bi as Javier - pursue Lingard.
We could've spent actual time with AJ so that he finally mattered more than 'he's a baby and the game keeps insisting he does'. It also would've given us a character to play that was multidimensional. Whereas Javi is more akin to Luke, David is more like Lee. He came from a darker past.
I like David from the begin to the end, the only regret I have it is not having able to save him
Agreed. Which plays a significant role in my opinion of him.
Agreed.
That ending may as well not exist since he either leaves or isn't speaking to Javier.
This is a great idea!
Ya and honestly that was a big problem with season 2 and Kenny. Telltale forces us to have a relationship with two characters for most of the season but writes one of them into a "rabid dog". Like why can't the ratio of good/bad interactions between the player character and the end determinant characters be more balanced??
This. For more characters in fact.
Its because they wanted a family drama. Javi took care of his family for 4 years. Then, David saved him but ditched him after that just to keep his place in ANF and keep his family to himself. When that doesnt enough, they made a scene when Kate confesses her feelings to Javi. Either way, David got mad and attacked you. They wanted a struggle between brothers.
David didnt want a family. He wanted to go away and leave them to Javi. He literally tried to get rid of his family. And when Javi kept them safe for 4 years, David acted like himself kept them safe for 4 years, not Javi. Even I took his side when he confronted Joan, I knew that he was going to fuck everything up and he did. He was a hot headed stupid guy and I cant grow any sympathy for him. Just cant.
The same way they wanted us to hate Nick and Sarah, expect it backfired.
I mean look at the Bible, same thing with Jesus...
I think you mean the same way they wanted us to hate the Stranger and Kenny.
