Actually, that's one of the scenes where Louis shows he's not quite as confident as he come across.
And ditto Violet with being standoffish, funnily enough.
They're both really not that interesting yet, mostly because episode 1 was really mostly about introducing and getting to know them rather than having them do anything noteworthy at all (and that's fine).
That's kinda my thought with most of the characters and the game itself, honestly.
I already don't particularly like comic relief characters since they always seem to become an untouchable writer's pet
Wait, what? Has that really happened?
Like the game is trying too hard to make me laugh and enjoy being with this character (when in reality I feel like I'm interacting with a literal clown) rather than making me understand him, see things from his perspective or making me care about his struggles
That's sorta fair-ish. With him in particular, they're definitely prioritizing getting the players acquainted and into the environment over directly telling us who most of these characters are, as I noted above.
There are little hints/cracks in that, mind you, but the background information and deeper aspects are likely to come in the next episode or two
On the topic of Violet complaining about the loss of a loved one at all times, it's really not as ridiculously overboard and unnecessary as you try to make it seem.
And all this exposition still feels way more necessary to understand the overall plot than... anything Louis says really?

Violet however is just slightly more interesting to me since she has history with the twins and feels therefore way more involved in the plot.
Louis on the other hand has really just been a discount comic relief character that is main cast for some unknown reason. Now, I already don't particularly like comic relief characters since they always seem to become an untouchable writer's pet (this seems to be the case with Louis too, just going by how the devs talk about him), but Louis's character seems to take it a step further by being literally just that - funny... times a hundred... thousand. The constant monologue and grandstanding, the snarky one liners, his tone, a fucking (named!) chair leg (???)... it's just a little too much? Like th… [view original content]
That's a shame. Even if violet was a male I'd still feel the same way. I wouldn't love the character any less. The personality, the design, the depth, relatability, and the voice is why I love violet.
I love Louis, don't get me wrong, but I saw the path where you decide to go hunting with him and Aasim and I got really annoyed by how he can be too laid-back. Clem and AJ need to get food so they can stay at the boarding school, but he just wants to hit a piñata and distract AJ
And I generally feel like Violet/Violentine fans mostly like Louis while Louis/Clouis fans are more open about disliking Violet, just based off of the amount of discussion topics similar to this one haha
Someday that cleaver gonna get stuck in a walker’s head, but you’ll never know
Yeah Violet is chill, but harsh towards other people. In my statement of course
Violet's a realist. She doesn't fool around unlike louis. Her voice is nice. She's relatable. She's nice to aj and looks after tenn. She sav… morees clem from a walker. Her smile is cute. She's a nostalgic and deep thinking person. She isn't always brooding.
Her reaction to clem complimenting her was adorable. Her reactions to certain dialogue choices are complex. She shows happiness, guilt, sympathy, anger, surprise.
I like that she's shy and can be awkward. I like her lone wolf personality. The way she kills walkers is cool and so is her choice of weapon.
Unlike louis to me she isn't obnoxious. She's not comedic relief like louis is. Her advances if there were any weren't and aren't cringe like louis was and is.
Louise running to catch up to clem was just eye rolling. Just like how his singing and flirting is eye rolling and also his lame attempts at trying to be funny. And fishing imo was more enjoyable and fun and more productive.

I like both of them. Though, for me it really is about getting into my Clementine's head. My interpretation is pretty cynical and abrasive, so she relates more with someone who is like her. It's not that complicated.
Honestly, I'm still indifferent to both of them. Violet's been too closed-off for me to really form an opinion of her (I went hunting), and Louis has kind of come off as a jerk-off. I don't find either of them viable shipping options for Clem, as of yet. I think the perceived "spreading of bs about Louis" comes from the fact that, to some, it seems like all he cares about is getting into Clem's pants. I am seriously doubtful that is all he cares about, but I can see where others would see that in his initial impression when you first meet them.
I just think Louis is too optimistic and positive for my interpretation of Clem. But maybe that will make him endearing. I don't find him flirty, just naive and goofy. Nothing more, nothing less.

She does kick walkers after cleaving them in the face. I don't think violet's harsh. She's pessimistic and standoffish. That's how violet copes. She's not always like that though. She smiles and laughs. She displays different emotions.

Gender and orientation doesn't matter to me is what I'm saying. What matters is how I see the character, what I think about the character, and what I see in the character.
That liable to change/shed a bit in the next episode.
@Itsclementime I think it would be healthier for her not to be stuck with the s… moreame personality though, it can get toxic to have the same mindset.
That's sorta my thought as well, however platonic.
Clever name, btw.
@Scythenger That's a shame. Even if violet was a male I'd still feel the same way. I wouldn't love the character any less.
Eh, no comment.
@MaxTheFax when minnie comes back violet will chose between clem and minnie probably (based on your decisions)
It'd best be the latter., if I had to pick.
I guess for the sake of addressing the general consensus/debate proper from what I've seen, Violet fans have been inherently more likely to crap on Louis than the other way around.
There have been fans who really like Louis and fans who have really expressed disdain towards Violet. And while there are non-fans of Violet who like/prefer Violet, the two sides are not mutually exclusive.
Case in point, while I haven't stepped foot in it yet, the Violet shipping has considerably more comments in it than the Louis shipping thread. Given both the pro-Violet comments [I've seen] in the past and the noticeable ratio discrepancy between the two shipping threads' comments, I think it's safe to assume as to why that is.

That's a good thing. I don't think it's important to be on the same level of understanding as someone nor is it important to have things in common but I personally think it's a good thing if you do. There's better understanding and chemistry. Clem and violet aren't completely the same in every aspect. They've had different experiences. Their choice of weapons is different. They're fighting style is different. I don't think I've ever seen clem roll her eyes. The kids they look after have had different experiences too. I do like whenever clem and violet are together and they smile at each other or when they're standing near each other and smile. It's adorable. And I think it's cute that they both look after a kid. Violet jokes a little too. When she talks about louis musical talent, when she comments on how she thinks clem totaled the last working car in the world, when she says poor walker referring to a comment brody made about a toothless walker. And when she comments on every dialogue choice you choose when brody asks where you would go if you had a working car. I'm not sure if violet's joking but what she says made me chuckle and laugh.

I read this comment on youtube and the person asked multiple youtubers to choose louis and only two did. If they're original choice was violet they should've only went with louis if they wanted to and not because someone asked or wanted them to. Whether anyone chooses violet, louis, or neither it's their choice. No one should persuade them or anyone to change their mind. Just let it happen naturally. If it happens at all.
If they do what their audience wants it's their problem to listen to em...I didn't mean by saying youtube by the youtubers...but by the audience that preferred lu and not vi.

I was just bringing up a comment on a youtube video and commenting on it is all. The youtuber is the one who makes the decision. And to let your audience influence you into making the decisions they want you to make isn't a good idea imo.

I've heard of crowd play but from what I've seen it messes up the game. It's good to incorporate your audience. Some youtubers ask their audience to vote on the decisions and others just make the decisions on their own. I prefer watching the youtubers who make their own decisions and don't let their audience influence them.

That kind goes the other way too, though.
"Now?"
Unfortunately, that's kinda bled over into the louder voices for her. And jumpin jack flash, are they loud. Or numerous.

the ship war has begun....i.warned you people I BLOODY WARNED YOU LOT
Huh.. You did.
Depends on your character choices tbh either or for me.
Me after going through the comments in this thread.

They're both quiet, practical, snarky, and brooding young female characters who look after little black boys and are seen as dependable.
That's nice.
I said no comment because while I did want to reply to that notion, I was legitimately stumped as to what to say about it.
I figured it was because I wasn't I think specific is the word that you didn't know what to say or how to reply it.

Shit drama if you ask me
This wd forum prefer violet but if you see twitter or youtube it's all about Louis so..
That's impressive. There's nothing clem can't do.
Including die.

Clem has the spirit of lee protecting her. She good.

Louis is the only one who got my attention. I don't like Violet.

It is if you want to entertain and even incorporate them with the gameplay experience. Crowd Play is a thing, apparently.

For what that'd be worth.
Used to be the same, albeit severely greater.
It would be worth a lot. It is lee after all. You don't like louis that much anymore?
