The way that the writers ended S2 showed us that there possibly wasn't a way to continue the story for her without making our choices meaningless. In one of my stories I made the unpopular decision to kill Professor Xavier off and yet it paid off as I did it in an amazing way. It was difficult and some people weren't happy, yet many were happy with it. You can't make everyone happy.
The theme about Walking Dead is that it's not about a single character, it's about multiple characters that each have their own reasons for … moresurviving, all trying to simply survive.
I agree that S2 should have been the end of Clem's story arc so that the Kenny and Jane fans could be happy and also that we could start the series over with a new character to root for.
...except a lot of us don't WANT "a new character to root for." Clem's been with us from the very beginning, just like Rick Grimes, and she's still alive for the same reason he's still alive. The fact is, if Telltale caved to your demands and axed Clem, they'd lose more customers than they could afford, myself among them.
I didn't like the Michonne series because Clem was gone, I liked the series due to it got back to what made the first game great. It had characters that I liked and characters that I hated. The writing was top notch and the ending was great. There wasn't a single person in my team that I hated.
As a writer myself I hated how inconsistent S2 was. The writers focused on Clem too much and the one good thing they did was bring Kenny back. They knew that Clem was an already established character, yet they spent little time with everything else and that's why the writing suffered. Back in S1 we decided who Lee was and that's why we need to get back to basics and start a completely new story arc.
I personally don't think her story is finished yet, the main reason I like TWD is just to see her grow up and how she handles all the shit a… moreround her. I mean in season 2 you decide who your clem will be, in a new frontier we get to see who you became and how she acts in another point of view. But they fucked that up because no matter what she is the exact same. So season 1 is a scared and fun little kid, season 2 is her becoming a survivor but she has not reached her peak. A new frontier she is a harden survivor who can kill without hesitation.
Of course Clementine being in the game makes people want to save her regardless of the alternatives. That's why I wished that the writers would have left her alone in S2. If they wanted to bring back another old character, Lilly would have been the best choice. She's already a powerful person in the comics and we had little screen time with her in S1. I couldn't stand her in S1 so her being a better written character in this season would have been neat. She has plot armor so we wouldn't have to worry about her dying which means that we could get to know her and bond as Javier.
Another great character that has plot armor would be Michonne. Michonne, Javier, and Lilly being in a group would make for an interesting season.
Alright I have to agree with you on that point, character's deaths were tossed around like candy, that doesn't mean I think she should be cut out the series. S1 was who Lee became S2 is who Clem became. Now it kinda is a new story arc just with Clem sneaking inside why? because the community demanded it. And as I said the writer's can still do quite a bit with Clem's character. Plus a fix for a lot of the issues is for telltale to stop making easy fucking choices which involve Clem

Technically it isn't called season 3. At least on the steam page, season 2 is called "The Walking Dead: Season 2" while this appears as "The Walking Dead: A New Frontier" instead of ": Season 3".

How exactly was there too much focus on Clementine when not only did Kenny hijack the plot pretty consistently but she lacked a lot of what made Lee a good protagonist?

Who was "happy with it?" The tiny fraction of people who read your personal X-Men fanfiction? They killed off Xavier in "The Last Stand" too, and that's still regarded as one of the worst films in the entire franchise. It was a cheap, shallow gimmick to imbue emotional resonance where there was none.
Our choices weren't rendered "meaningless." I'm not happy with all of the scenarios Telltale provided, but I'm content with how they got Clem from point A to point B.

I feel like she is Batman in a Batman movie. She has virtually super powers and she will not die. I don't fear for her life.
It would surprise me to see TT kill her off (mainly since no character in their universe cares so much about her as most players do), although the game might benefit just like the TV series would from killing off Rick.
I hate to say this, but I agree. So far it seems Telltale had an interesting idea about Walking Dead spin-off and then decided to shoehorn Clementine in it so that more people would buy it. If she at least had different personality depending on previous choices in S1 and S2, then I'd be more inclined to tolerate her presence, but we can't even have that.
The only thing I agree with is that the series should still focus on Clem. I don't care about Javier, his thirsty sister in law, or his niece and nephew. [spoiler] I actually cracked up when what ever her name got shot in the head. Too bad the bullet didn't kill Kate either.[\spoiler] His nephew is like Chris 2.0 so hopefully he'll get the deserving death of flipping out of a truck and dying. And don't get me started on the New Frontier. They are as scary as the walkers. Seriously, they should have pulled in Negan and the saviors. Much better and a way bigger, truer, threat.
Clem is old enough that she doesn't need saving, she doesn't need to tag along with others. And I would have loved to play as her being a true ultimate survivor. If Javier was just some rando who she met, helped and sent on his way, that would have been fine. But I feel like we (long time players) have been deceived. They just tossed Clem in to get our money. TT is like "Look, Clem is still there, but she's just background. Please. Please, care about Javier." And I don't. I want him to die. I hate him. I'll say it again, I HATE JAVIER. His family. And what ever they have planned for them. And you know there will be a huge struggle between him and his brother and skanky Kate. yawn
And lets not even mention how they totally wrote Jane and Kenny so far off character just to explain how they died. Don't get me wrong, I didn't like Jane, and I chose to stay with Kenny. But Jane was a true fighter. So what if she got knocked up by Luke. She wouldn't have taken the "easy" way out. And she wouldn't have hung herself knowing that she'd come back as a walker, forcing Clem to end her. She would have continued on fighting.
And Kenny. OMG! Seriously, he flipped out of the car and broke his back! What kind of crazy lazy writing is this!?!?!? He was all about the kids. So why would he unbuckled his seat belt in a moving car, with someone who is just learning how to drive, to cover up a toddler? Seriously, who does that?
I also feel that the tossed in Jesus simply for the fact that if people where upset about Clem, then they'd be like, "Yay, it's Jesus!" But, no, that doesn't work either.
NF is a train wreak. They messed this up almost as badly as EA/Maxis messed up the Sims franchise by giving us Sims 4. If we get a season 4 I hope they fix their error. At this point, if I hadn't gotten the game as a gift, I would be demanding my money back. They could have been up front and truthful, and told players that Clem is not the main character. And you only play her in flashbacks. FLASHBACKS!!!!!! I hope the future episodes we actually get to play as current Clem.
And what the heck happened to Krista. See, these are real questions that need to be answered, not Javier and his crack family.

I completely agree. Whatever ending you got in season 2 should have been the end of Clem's story instead of shoehorning her into A New Frontier like they did. It's time for a fresh start
Exactly what I've been saying. It would have connected S1 and S2 perfectly had S2 been the end of her storyline. I believe people to obsess over Clem and I find myself telling them to be careful what you wish for. People obsessed over Guitar Hero and Call of Duty 4 and look what happened. Pointless sequels that drove the series of both franchises into the ground.

Clem is great in this season, so I disagree on that part, however I agree that she shouldn't have been in it. AT LEAST NOT YET. Because people care about her so much, if there's a choice like [SAVE NEW CHARACTER] and [SAVE CLEM], everyone will pick save clem, we've known her longer. So it'll influence people's choices, rendering the choice almost pointless to be in the game, since everyone will pick to save clem anyway.

Dont get smart, its the third installment of TTG TWD, dont need to be called s3 to be so. it still links
Technically, Michonne is the third.

Wow. That's getting REALLY desperate.

I don't write fanfiction. I write as a journalist for a website. I gave Xavier a good death, Last Stand was awful.
