Theories on Eleanor in episode 3?

  • Really now? Cause I'm pretty sure it would've been made clearer if they were aiming for the group specifically.

Somebody clearly shouts: "SHOOT THEM" when they're getting through the herd, referring to the survivors.

  • He's right. You can hear one of the guards yell "SHOOT THEM". While its not made clear if they were referring to the walkers or the survivors I always assumed the latest given Carlos got shot a split second later.

  • Holy shit, you're right! I never noticed that before! Well, I guess that just adds another piece to that incident. It also explains why the unused panicking quotes have Luke and Bonnie beg Tavia to stop.

  • It also shines light on the fact that Carver's dark persona had literally taken over all those goons. I mean, seriously? You got hundreds of walkers heading your way and the main thing in your mind is murdering a group consisting mostly of harmless ladies and beat up dudes? I mean, I just like to assume that instead for the sake of storytelling instead of just thinking they were dumb. Though the latest is much more likely, ain't it mate?

  • Honestly, I'm still trying to gel with that. All this time, I just assumed they were all decent enough people who just sorta roll with their psycho in charge for the sake of order and community but nah! Apparently, they're all dicks too.

  • Most people mention Clem's comment but watch her body language as Eleanor approaches the cage... She rolls her eyes as she lays down and pretends to be asleep during the conversation, only to then get up immediately once she leaves and voice her suspicion. She definitely knows something about her.

  • LOL I was trusting her until clem was like "my guy doesn't trust her" and then I turned around quick and put my walls up to her.

Clem's seen some shit if she doesn't trust her than there is something definitely wrong/fishy about her.

Same. Call it a gut feeling, but I don't trust her the slightest.

  • I think she pretends to be asleep to ignore Eleanor bc it can be inferred that they've meet before, clem's a badass but it's pretty typical for a teenager to roll their eyes and pretend to not notice people they don't like.

  • I think everyone distrusts Eleanor because Clementine distrusts her. There's no visible reason to do so, at least so far.

I think Eleanor went to the gates to get someone to help her with Kate and she either got shot or taken prisoner. I don't think she has any connection to the NF.

  • I'm still not appreciating it.

We just sentenced them to be devoured by leaving the gates open!

And the quote is “just shoot them,” which indicates that they were conflicted about whether to shoot us if we were on the way.

It seems I might be in the minority, but I'm rooting for Eleanor. I like her, and hope she survives this season, and most importantly, that she does not turn out to be a traitor.

In my first playthrough, I'll admit that I was also suspicious of Eleanor. She's a complete stranger. What could she possibly gain by helping Javi and his family? And then Clem's comment about how she trusts Tripp more solidified my hesitations, so I sided with Clem and brought Tripp with me the next morning. ** But mind you, this was because I initially chose to lie for Clem after she accidentally shot Eli. If you go this route, you only get to interact with Eleanor very briefly and her willingness to help Javi would seem strange. **

In my second playthrough, I choose to not lie for Clem. By doing so, you're not imprisoned and as I mentioned earlier, you get extra dialogue options with Eleanor. From this particular conversation, what I gathered was that family seems to be very important to her, and I think that might be her motivation to help Javi.

(FYI - In the same way that Clem says she doesn't trust Eleanor, Eleanor also says that there's something off about Clem.)

At the very least, I agree with the last part.

  • That's an interesting interpretation. I just took the eye roll as a teenager's reaction to seeing two adults potentially flirting. I didn't sense anything hostile from it at all. In the same way, if you choose to not lie for Clem, when she returns and meets up with Javi after her talk with Tripp, she says "gross" to seeing Javi and Eleanor flirting.

  • I may be blind but I can't see a reason why many people don't trust Eleanor. She's done lots of things to help the group and she's pretty sweet ;)

I think it's because it seems she is Tripp's girlfriend but her act of hitting on Javier and furthermore offering to bust him out is sort of an act of treachery that could teach you that she wouldn't hesitate to betray you when the need comes. Tripp does jokingly talk about that, I didn't want to take away Tripp's trust on me and he would definitely been more reliable handling zombies and the New Frontier out there. Re-establishing trust after you shamefully covered for Clementine was important, I mean she fucking killed a person in a supposedly safe establishment, no need to go further than that.

I bet she's going to be the first one in the group to get branded.

    Other than Clementine obviously.

  • Yea the last people that were too nice ate mark so I don't trust her.

She seems too... Nice? I don't buy this. Sorry, but not.

  • The only real reason is because Clementine said something about not trusting her. Everything else is assumption. And I'd remind everyone that Clementine has not exactly been a bastion of honesty and good judgment this season so far.

Not to say that there isn't value in the question of "why would Telltale put that in there if it meant nothing?". But I'd also remind you all that this is the same game series where we have a choice whether or not to give a dying dude water that results in nothing, and almost an entire season's worth of obvious buildup of a conflict between two characters that also led to nothing. And let's not forget the mysterious case of The Vanishing Town from "Amid the Ruins".

Just saying... sometimes Telltale tosses stuff in there that means nothing. Just have to wait and see.

  • This situation reminds me a lot of what happened with Vicki Vale, but if that's the case, then that would be the third time they have done a similar twist in a Telltale game, I hope this doesn't get repitive.
