Honestly, I wanted Clem and Mari to develop a close friendship, but Telltale eradicated any potential for that.
Well, I guess you could say she had Duck, someone who was more or less her polar opposite, to play with. He got bitten and taken care of by Kenny/Lee.
There was Sarah, someone who she could simultaneously relate to and interact with in a positive(or determinately negative) manner by motivating her. She was killed and replaced by Jane.
Then there was Jane, someone who could kinda sorta relate to Clementine and taught her a few tricks. She got herself killed.
I guess we could have Javier, Gabe, and/or Ava take over that position, but time will eventually tell.
Honestly, I'm more interested in seeing her with a personal antagonist now--a Huckleberry, if you will.
I hate when people blame a fictional characters death on the writers. Going by that logic no one should ever had died and it is all Telltale fault
Actually, I really didn't and would've preferred they keep those two separate and distinct from each other.
I don't see Gabe as her best friend. And I also think she can find a good friend without worrying about the age. Javier could be a good friend for her. I was thinking about Ava too, but I'm not sure if Ava will be revelant at certain point. So... Stick with the adults, Clem. The good ones. Btw, you already are one.
Clementine is mature for her age and adults can be her friends (good friends) like Javier, Ava, Kate ... Because she is so mature, she need people that older than her (not like Sarah or Gabe) she's too mature for that.
All this talk about Clem and her needing "good friends" makes me a little bit uncomfortable...
She needs literally anyone to talk to.
Determinately, she can be alone for 2 years with no one to communicate with or she can have just been separated by someone/someplace she had grown accustomed to for years (Kenny/Wellington) and not had any time or space to grieve as a result of being constantly on edge for AJ. Then in the few instances thereafter where she does have human contact, she's cold and bitter as a result of months or potentially years of isolation. Yeah, there was The New Frontier, but we still don't know what that might have entailed - for all we know, she might've been better off alone than with them.
Moreover, basically every other person we've known in ANF has had someone close to them for comfort: Javier and his family, Tripp and Eleanor, Conrad and Francine (well, y'know). Perhaps more importantly, they can relate and rely on each other personally to get through tragedies like with Mariana and Prescott.
Who has Clem had to grieve with over the deaths of Kenny/Jane? Who has Clem had to help shoulder the responsibility of AJ? Who has Clem had to even talk to about her past life? No one. And meanwhile there's new situations and people constantly appearing around her who barely express any interest or care.
Is it any wonder Clementine is so dark this season?
We may see that. Gabe and Clem are developing a friendship though not everyone is pleased about that. I do agree though, I'd love to see a strong friendship with Clem and someone else.
That why I said,
So he/she can be Clem bestfriend....
I'm not mad about her dying so much as mad about the way she died.
Considering she probably didn't even realize she was killed, I don't see much of the problem.
Why ?
Javi and Jesus are that character
Cause, a lot of times "good friends" come with "benefits" a teen can't "comprehend."
Would have loved if Sarah was still alive
I'd like to believe that telltale is planning this, a reason why Clem acts the way she does. Altough I don't mind her in s3, I think she's great but it would add to her character development I guess.
I would like kate to be clem best friend and as a mom to cus she seem to me fit at that place for clem more than any female was in this series in her character. Anyway its just what i think
inb4 another scene where we have to stitch body parts of Clem, but this time cause of c section...
#NoFriendForClem #ForeverSingle
On the other hand:
If Telltale made more hubs to let us talk to the people, this problem is solved. The people can die (someday) ... but the players also have more time with it and build a better relationship. Also a death would be more tragic when you have a better relationship to a person.
But currently Telltale is like:
New person > dead in the next scene almost without any talk.
Telltale: "COME ON, PLAYER! CRY! THIS IS A SAD SCENE! Someone die, you must cry."
She should be an absolute wreck of a human by now, considering how much she's been through. AJ is probably the only reason she's still sane.
I wish Sarah was her best friend and partner at surviving.
Being honest I hate how after five minutes in these games the character are friends. I mean season 2 was particularly bad on that front
When you think about it, Clementine never really had a best friend in this game. It was always her and her coloring or being treated as a adult.
Realistically, the closest person she'll have for a best friend must be javi, after everyone dies their friendship will be stronger than ever.
Yeeeah, it was pretty jarring, particularly in characters like Rebecca and especially Jane's case. I think Sarita, Nick, and Sarah was the closest to being realistic/justified--and that last one was intentionally played to be odd!
Sarah could have been that, but of course they killed her off.
2me_irl
Sarah was her best friend, but of course she had to die a really depressing first death and an unrealistic second death.
I guess it would be AJ. Sucks it's gotta be a toddler, but her life is very cruel. Perhaps it will change to Javier depending on how well you treat Clementine.
We had plenty of chances - Duck, Sarah, even Mariana.. But eh, it's easier just to kill them for the sake of drama.
You know, as soon as you said antagonist, I immediately thought of Ava for some weird reason. Not that she's going to be straight-up evil or anything, but she could present some questionable choices when it comes to the NF.
I'd really like to see more on her.
Assuming she is on friendly terms with Ava when they meet back up, they will likely have had a longer friendship with each other than Clem did with anyone introduced in Season Two (and Ben) since it seems that it's been months since they last saw each other. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.
Well, she does seem like a foil to Jane(who we were supposed to like) and I'm genre savvy enough to not hold my breath on her being completely friendly, so its possible.
Like that's hard
Personally, I'm thinking/kinda-hoping its a little bit of both....
I agree...hell considering all the messed up ways you can die in TWD...I think she hit the jackpot and got lucky.
I feel like it will be really difficult for her to get that close to someone again, especially after Lee and Kenny. In my game she even said that being close to people is nice but it always hurts in the end.... ;.;
The only ones telltale can afford are Javi or Gabe...don't expect better to feel better
Her hat is her best friend.
