Anyone prefer S2's graphics over S3's?

Not really a big fan of season 3s graphics. Season 2s graphics had more of a comic book look to it and the walkers looked way better.

  • I think pretty much everyone shares your opinion

  • I like the art style more but I also like the fidelity of the New Frontier models. I think a good compromise would be to keep the higher detail/fidelity of the models but to replace the realistic human textures with something closer to the comic styling.

  • Season 3 graphics are total GARBAGE.

  • S2 graphics were more unique than New Frontier's (like how big everyone's eyes are in S2) but some of the models in NF look great like Clementine's and Tripp's.

  • I think Michonne has the most pleasing graphics in my eyes, the colors are just right. s3 did have some good stuff in its graphics and it makes it look like a modern game, models, effects, etc are very well done and I wouldn't complain if they stuck with it for the next season since its actually decent.

  • I agree, I really wished they kept Michonnes graphics.

  • Agreed. I know they mentioned trying to update the artstyle, bu it honestly just looks like they tried to emulate every other modern game and ended up with a wax dummy-esque template.

  • That does sound like a good idea.

  • I understand why they felt the need to change the graphics for ANF, but honestly, I do really miss the cartoony comic book style that the previous two seasons had. It just felt like its visual style had more of an identity than ANF if that makes any sense at all.

  • If they had done a good job with the new graphics it would be one thing, but they didn't.

  • The graphics are SHIT in ANF.

New graphics show how much TT has lost their interest in their old, comic-like style and just focused on making a movie.

Yes, in video gaming industry graphics aren't that important, but I genuinely think that if you decided to create something in a particular style, you stick to it to keep the originality, flow and consistency.

  • Why are you banned?

I agree, I really wished they kept Michonnes graphics.

The graphics aren't all shit in ANF, but they're clearly very rushed in some areas. If I had to choose between the graphics of the previous sequels and ANF, I would either go with Michonne or Season 2. But at the end of the day, graphics don't really matter. The Walking Dead game is clearly a focus on a story, which unfortunately has not been delivered to acceptable standards in ANF.

  • I like how characters look in ANF, especially their facial expressions, really helps showing each character's emotions, but other than that yeah the art-style doesn't fit The Walking Dead, wish they will do a combination of Season 2 art-style and ANF characters facial expresions

  • Much better in s2 imo

I'd rather have season 3 animations. But the graphics, I am gonna stick with Season 2 on this one. Face models were more like a movie instead of comic graphics. I'd like the concept about that they used to.

  • S2 had the best graphics to make it a walking dead-ish game

  • I use to have the impression that Michonne animations where not very different than season 2 animations and graphics. Maybe I'll replay it some bored evening to compare.

I felt season 3's graphics where fitting for the game. One of the very few improvements Telltale has done for the games. I also think it's an upgrade from season 2's look by giving some of the same previous characters a much more elaborated look and detailed facial features. Nothing wrong with any of the Walking Dead game's graphics I could tell so far because they were just right for the kind of game it was at the time. Now if only the narrative could improve with each game.... the graphics would matter even less.

  • To me, Michonne characters are made more in the vain of Jane than anything else, with heavier shading and detail to make it look grungy.

  • The rest of the second season cast wasn't animated in detail like Jane? I'd have to look at it again to see.

  • Well, more like Jane's design is actually fairry different from the other characters, particularly the other female characters. Which is funny considering she apparently uses a lot of Lilly's animations or however that works.

  • I prefer the older graphics. The realism Telltale attributed to ANF's character models got lost in translation somehow. Characters seemed more realistic in previous seasons despite the comic book effect. The characters in ANF look more like action figures than living people.
