Do y'all know the exact odds for pulling the advertised character on those 'premier recruits'?

Scopely is very stubborn on odds. It took an Apple mandate for them to even disclose pull and stash odds while surprise boxes and whatnot are still unknown. They advertise them as 2x chances but not actual odds. That may just be reruns though. No idea if the ones advertised as "Limited Time Only" are 2x chances. If we assume there's an equal chances for characters of the same rarity minus the 2x ones then it's 2/the number of legends available +1 * the odd percentage for that rarity. Same for the 5 star versions. So if there's.... I don't know, 30? available in the wheel at any given time then it puts their odds at about 0.065% for the legendary and another 0.065% for the epic. So about 0.13%?

... I think? I don't know, I probably screwed up the math somewhere in there.

Yall letting me slack while at work! Sure enough, Marlon is here! ... Kinda.

He's featured on the ascendance statue and in his 2 story roadmaps as support I'm running through now (I'll edit in thoughts and a summary in a bit).
EDIT: Yeah, he's OP as hell. Anyways, only 1 roadmap actually had any story stuff. Luis, Marlon and Violet are reclearing a room in the orphanage(?) and have some nice banter between them. Not much else. It seems Marlon is a leader type trying not to let his emotions get the better of him. Luis seems a fun type and main target of everyone's light-hearted jabs. He also like pianos.
And sure enough, he seems to be another OP premiere I'll undoubtedly miss out on but he isn't listed in any wheels yet. He'll likely replace Aris on the premier wheel in about 12 hours.
Of particular interest is the bow he's wearing. Archery skills perhaps?
Also he's packing a new specialist skill. Curious to see how it pans out.

  • And the gang's all here. Sure enough Louis has been revealed on the ascendance statue and as support in a new roadmap. Usual stuff: walkers get in, gotta kill em, kill em, the end.
Also another PTP that's clearly more powerful than the 2 FTP characters released so far. Yay...

So, mods still haven't approved my post of the Clem leak I tired like 3 days ago, so here's that again:

My girl is back and better than ever. If anyone knows Russian I'd greatly appreciate a translation. Sadly another premier toon rather than legacy. It looks like she has a bound weapon for her 6 star version. Gotta squeeze out that tape and kit money somehow.

This is amidst a ton of leaks from VK, so swing by and see em all for yourself. No idea on a timeframe or any sign of Carely.

    Anyways: Newer stuff!
The August stash is leaked and it looks pretty good. For some reason Javi is fast (boo) but also FTP (yay!) from what I can tell. Get a screwdriver every 5 days, you need 25 for the museum collection. I think.

Also the stash looks to have some solid stuff in it. Here's hoping I can net some Ulysses.

  • Telltale said Javier and his family wouldn’t come back, but he is in the event and it is written “Done Running” is his profile. Since the same situation applies to Jesus, now I am pretty sure Jesus is not coming back.

  • edited July 2018

Yeah, I got NO idea what's going on with the Done Running title. I guess it's just a catch-all for Scopely? But why they aren't just using TellTale Special Edition any more is beyond me...

  • So Javier has officially been made part of the game under the title 'Done Running'
Don't forget that Lee's title was specifically changed from Done Running to the final episode of season one's title 'No Time Left' and Kenny's new card was named after the S2 final episode 'No Going Back', which makes the whole Garcia situation just a little more interesting.

  • Something else a little interesting...Javier's new weapon that goes with his character is a police baton, a weapon that he never used through the entirety of ANF
Perhaps his weapon of choice in TFS?

  • So couple minor things. Louis roadmap is up. Hunting using snares. Banter with Clem. Usual walker fodder. Pretty weak completion rewards.
Also if you hit your milestones and ran the maps, legendary Lee is available for FTP players. Nab him quickly for 2! Double the fun.
Log-in stash is up, and.... well an oversight I'm not posting on public forums again (even though people were idiots and slathered it everywhere already).

  • Is there anything interesting regarding the dialogue?

I like reading the interactions between the characters but almost no one on YouTube posts them and I only know one person who screencap them online :/

  • Where the hell is the Season 2 Event Hype?

  • Calling something now after seeing the email, Marlon is the Kenny of The Final Season.

Probably. A tad surprised it isn't Violet, but that's fine.

Depending on who that ends up being, I probably wouldn't mind..

  • Another thing I just noticed...Conrad and Mari were both recently officially added to the Game as playable characters
Before they were leaked but never actually officially put in the game with the rest of the ANF characters...they are now both part of the game as 4 star recruits (Theyre both actually pretty damn good for 4 stars)

  • A few things about Louis during his story...
-He seems to be very good at trapping and fishing, and even teaches Clem how to set a snare (don't know how she wouldn't know how to do that already, but whatever)
-He's exactly the light hearted tounge in cheek humor kind of guy we were expecting, as he seems to make light of even the most dire of circumstances
-Like Violet and Marlon, he calls the Walkers 'Deadheads'
Truth be told, not much is happening during these stories. They pretty much just walk around on suply runs, occasionally running into a zombie horde. They don't even talk that much, as half their dialogue is 'we've got company' or 'Did you find anything over there?' So some false advertising on their part, but then again road to survival is famous for that.

  • Yeah, they dropped in with the last wheel updates back in March. Mari is only through 4 star tokens and Conrad through prestige tokens. The only TellTale character yet to resurface (outside this event's premier ones so far) is 3 star Gabe from last year's event.

True. Even by Scopely standards this year is weak. From what I've read about the season 1 event they had so good back and forth from around Long Road Ahead and the season 3 one followed a good story about 2 twins on the run from Badger and Max that met Clementine.

If I had to guess it's because season 4 isn't out yet unlike the last 2 where season 1 was long finished and season 3 was around its 3rd episode if I remember correctly. Given how many rewrites these past 2 seasons got Scopely writers probably have nothing to work with in the way of story, just vague characters traits.

  • They're pretty standard. It's unclear why they weren't apart of the original releases from the season 3 event as they were around at the time as at least prototypes someone found through datamining. But they eventually made it out of limbo and those 2 are some of the few to actually do so.

    Telltale Missions
Badger first appears alongside Max when the New Frontier is traveling to Prescott to raid the community. They stumble upon Lindsay and Matt on the road, Badger immediately launching into an attack on the siblings. Matt and Lindsay surprise them by killing several of their numbers before fleeing through a horde of walkers to a nearby swamp. Max and Badger lazily discuss following them before deciding that they had angered them too much to simply let them go. Matt and Lindsay ambush the New Frontier in a marshland as they give chase, killing more of them to Max's annoyance.

Edit: it doesn't like URLs for some reason...

  • So TellTale part 3 is up and all of the individual stories come together in a kinda mundane walker attack. Ho hum.

But during it I had a weird thought: No one outside the 4 listed + Rosie is seen anywhere. That kid with the burned face and AJ are just.... gone. It's kinda weird.

  • The what looks like the final roadmap is up and more of the same. Rather weak completion rewards. I will admit that this did get a chuckle out of me though.

I'm gonna hold off on final verdicts until the is properly over just in case they drop legend Carely out of nowhere like they did Kenny. Here's hoping...

When's 6 star Clem coming? Thought they'd drop her right after Louis...Ive been pooling my coins

  • Not sure. Given that the event ends in just a few days and before Naya's run as a promo ends Clem might not be a part of it (maybe a mini-event later?). The time span between leaks and actual releases can be a complete crap shoot from leaked and never released to released without being leaked, so it's anyone's guess. I'd say she should be out before the year closes and definitely before season 4 ends to make that sweet sweet tie-in money. Odds are good we'll see her in a month or 2.

I believe that Kenny is the most common of the current run of legacy ascendables (except for arguably Carely since she's available through ascendance) being available through Prestige tokens (which have crap odds), elite character tokens (although outside war crates they're a rarity), and 5 star tokens (how I got mine, and your best bet by far).

Those will only net you the 5 star version though.

Still waiting for the event to end fully, but before then: remember to burn the last of your igniters! Net some free survivors, basic gear and a crapton of FA tickets.

  • I'm far from ascendable Lee for 1500 scarves and it seems that there won't be any scarf road map, well, looks like I will go inactive again but this time forever. It REALLY feels unfair that this event came just when I moved to another apartment and had no Internet access for the first 2 weeks of the event.

  • edited August 2018

So this year's event was.... really disappointing.

There was some great moments to be certain but most don't really count. For me it was
    1. Pamgate. When the burner maps first dropped Pam's leader skill meant that the 100+ igniters were counted the same as 100+ world energy. Me and a faction mate were among the first to find out since we always use Pam and started testing all day. Because they were so farmable I must've ran it a couple hundred times before it got patched about 2 days later netting probably like 1 million XP total. This was a Scopely oversight, so it doesn't really count.
    2. Metal Gear Kenny: Rising. Having Legendary Kenny drop out of nowhere without any leaks or anything was great. I had mine sitting at level 80, with enough medals and Bennies stashed for about 2 months. Finally putting them into action was worth the wait.
    3. Double Lees! Pretty simple this one. With the 2nd collection not consuming the 1st Lee everyone that completed it got 2. A nice little treat to be certain, but also initially a Scopely oversight so that doesn't really count.
    4. Rosie's AR. Nothing in-depth here. It's just hilarious seeing Rosie flail around for Marlon's AR.
    5. Early Javi. The August log-in event is solid, but Scopely's reusing of screwdrivers from the hold the line event really bit them in the ass since most people still had a couple hundred left over. Basically anyone that'd been active for awhile got him day 1 and Scopely still hasn't fixed it. And yet another Scopely oversight.

Honorable mention to the 3 premier characters we got, but given that they were premier and I have yet to see anyone using them, they're so rare they don't even count.

Now you may have noticed a problem with that list: over half of it was due to mistakes on Scopely's behalf. That's ridiculous. When the best parts of your event are unintentional you are doing something very wrong.

There was a real lack of effort all around. Be it with the now infamous boring design of Lee, or the fact that there was only 1 portion of the story roadmaps that had human enemies rather than walkers, or the lack of a promised legendary Carely, or how it just kinda fizzled out in the last week with Naya taking a premier and roadmap spot and nothing on the TellTale front.

I'm just hoping that 6 star Clem brings a minievent when she launches to kick some life back into things.

  • edited August 2018

So I finally got my sorry ass around to playing season 4 today and I just realized that the roadmaps don't fit into the timeline at all. We see basically everything Clem gets up to right from when she awakes at Erikson to well... a little spoilery something something that throws a wrench in the roadmaps due to its characters. At no point during that time was the school partly overrun by walkers, Clem going scavenging with Violet, the Piano Room getting cleared twice, etc. The only one that could've happened is Louis checking his traps. So not only did it seem meaningless, it was meaningless. Thanks Scopely!

Side note: I may revive this thread when S4 Clem drops since it probably won't justify its own one. We'll see.

  • edited August 2018

So..... completely random-ass development: Matt and Lindsay, the 2 original characters introduced waaaaay back in the season 3 event are back on the new roadmap that relates to the Whispers from the comics. Reintroducing characters from a past TellTale event right as a new one ends is.... odd to say the least, so I'm keeping an eye on it. Gonna run through it and go over everything in the morning.

  • So I played it and it has absolutely nothing to do with the previous year's event. Maybe Scopely wanted to do a story map without making new character art so they just reused the old ones and the timing was just coincidental?
Well that was part 1 anyways, it might loop back later. If it does you'll be hearing from em again.
