NOOOOOO!!!! Guybrush is merely a child himself. Getting married wasn't exactly a good idea in the first place, but children? What for? OK, so in an action game you need someone to save, but this is an adventure game: What the hell would you do with them? Use diaper with son?

....
Well I don't want to always give a serious answer but I guess you're some what right unless it's like a genius baby or something that can solve puzzles.
Guybrush is too much of a kid himself to lug around another one, he'd just mature with the task or something equally horrible. I could see him pestered by a younger version of himself though, like in The Kid with Bruce Willis. Or even better, I could see him having to look after a youthified LeChuck.

On that note I thought it was pretty damn funny in Mi-4 when he got a hold of the Lechuck and Guybrush puppets. The scene where they start arguing was one of the funnest moments in Monkey Island 4. Good stuff really, that game has problems but its humor is under rated. Anyways if done right it could work, a youthified Lechuck. Sort of abstract but that's often a good thing for comedic flavor.
Yes. Absolutely fantastic idea. I want to see Monkey Island 6: The Son of Guybrush Threepwood, where LeChuck has kidnapped both Guybrush and Elaine and our 5 year old hero (who is surprisingly smart and can outwit adults) goes to rescue.

I don't know if that was sarcasm but I actually like your idea. I think it already has a comical subtext to begin with. Though I don't know if we could call it Monkey Island 6 before a few tweaks were made.
Monkey Island is not a comedy it is a game with a few jokes thrown in. No children. Ever.
All monkey islands are comedies, you're absurd. No offense, don't take this too personally, I hardly know you...
You're out to lunch...being fired out of a cannon to land on monkey island.
Lechuck marrying a Monkey...
million other unmentionable examples
Monkey islands are constant comedic adventure games.
Games like Fate of Atlantis or Simon the Sorcerer are games with some comedy thrown in but not Monkey Island.
Scales of Monkey Island - Also knowns as the adventures of Anemonae Threepwood Jr., Guybrush's half-merfolk illegitimate child of unknown gender. And its set in the Wild West.
in EMI he came back from the most incredble honey moon ever ^^
Which means that inbetween EMI and ToMI there was some dark and tragic story about Elaine being pregnant and losing her child (by the way, some say that children are not born if parents aren't ready, that's the way of nature). Would make a nice twist, by the way.

simon the sorcerer is way more comical than MI. Simon the sorcerer has a comical story line in general, monkey island has a serious story but with some comical puzzles and dialogue and stuff.

Well we all precieve things differently. Thank you for sharing your opinion with me.
I don't know, Alot of people are rejecting the idea without much thought. I think It could work, I could see the childish Guybrush being an amazing dad. I can also see the humor in him chasing an unruly youngster whilst STILL thwarting the bad guys in his usual puzzle solving way.
not quite, "Throw Used Diaper at Lechuck" I know I am not spinning it right, but it could be done and done good. Definitely we would have to have an amazing writer to pull it off, but the gains could be huge. I mean look at all the characters that the kid could interact with? Murray and a baby? Bwahaha! the mind boggling EEVILLLL!

You definitely have a girl friend don't you?
The thing is that it wouldn't be Monkey Island it would be another inspired adventure off of Monkey Island and I think fans are afraid to face that.

Definitely, it would ALMOST not be Monkey Island. But Guybrush IS growing up he IS Married, and he is getting to be a better and better pirate. I remember when he was a "Lilac Smelling Fancy Pants" After a another game or two is time for the story to evolve. Your close, Married and have a 9 month old. Funniest little thing you could imagine, kids are a real good laugh. A game with kids/ a kid would have to be a finale.

Actually I like the idea of using the kid for a finale. I think that it has to have a very vivid animation style though to fit the fun of childhood and to get others to warm up to it.
I'm beginning to think you're more mature and older than me too, far more loving than me, lol. Thanks for the post
I stay away from women who want babies.
My opinion is basically already taken by majority, so it's almost unnecessary. There is no better way to kill any series than to add children to the mix. That's like admitting defeat and really the only way to remedy it is to phase them out (which begs the question of why introduce them to begin with?).
What I would like to add is that Monkey Island isn't lacking a great cast of characters already. It's lacking consistent characters.
In the past, when ads have mentioned "Guybrush and friends return!" I always wondered who these friends were. Elaine, acceptable. Voodoo lady, despite the fact that she only appears once or twice in each game to be cryptic...well, fine, that's two friends. Stan appears as an obstacle very briefly, so it's hard to consider him a friend. But Wally, Herman, Men of Low Moral Fiber are far too inconsistent. I'd like to see more use out of this cast and others I haven't mentioned loooong before the series is doomed to Guybrush being covered in mashed peas.
Matter of fact, the only favorable use of children in anything is
Nooooooooooooo, just no. A "young adventures" is also a bad idea. MI is about Guybrush's adventures (foiling LeChuck, trying to be a pirate). Everything else is there for that. Shifting the game into "babies" or "save the babies" even with Pirates is no MI.
Matter of fact, the only favorable use of children in anything is Sam & Max 204
But that's not the same thing.
There's a whole difference between characters
who meet their former selves when they were still children
and characters who actually HAVE a kid. It doesn't involve the same kind of developpement at all.
And yeah, i wholly join the "god, please, NO " crowd.

/thread.
Well maybe he should.
He doesn't know what he's missing and I want him to tell me what it is!
I can't think of anything I would hate more.
(Although they weren't that great to begin with.)

Hitchhikers - kids ruined it
Dirk Pitt series - twins ruined it
This is the dumbest idea ever.

Haha! Sums up the general feeling towards the children idea!
