The Voodoo Lady has gone rogue because Tales skipped over the real fifth game in the series, thus finding a loophole in her five game contract and roping her into future games.

Or maybe Herman Toothroot isn't actually Captain Marley after all.

Are we sure that hand in Sam & Max is Jesse's hand?

    It can't be Guybrush's hand, he's too clumsy to shoot a gun THAT (S&M S2E03) way :D

Besides, it's only sixteen years old. Guybrush would be over three hundred by that point.

If that happens, either they'll have to do it in a long cutscene or you play as someone else. If the latter, the fans won't welcome it.

I beg to Differ, I thought controlling the Voodoo Lady was really good. I must admit I was opposed to the idea at first, But I had fun with it. I tried using everything in the Voodoo ladies pockets with everything. Also, I thought It was hilarious how Guybrush was acting in her body.

That wasn't controlling another character as such though.

    It was still Guybrush's consciousness.

    Brilliantly done though

I don't think people would be against controlling another character, such as elaine, for a segment of the game. But equally I don't see why they couldn't just have his death as one scene, then his revival ('One week later...') as the next.

When there's so much interesting aspects that can be used when someone dies and becomes a ghost / goes to hell / fakes death?

    Perhaps. Perhaps not.
  • edited October 2009
Remember in CMI Guybrush died X number of times officially enough to get a life insurance claim, so something similar could be afoot here.

    Voodoo Lady is LeChuck!

No, you don't understand. "The fans" is obviously meant to be a stand in for "I". Kind of like how "critics say" can be read as "I think(but want to appear neutural)".

It was all dream. Guybrush had been always at the kitchen of the Sea Monkey, dreaming after passing out with the recipe.
    Half Monkey 1, Monkey 2, 3, 4 and 5 had been a dream.
He arrives at Monkey Island wich is really a candy land made of chocolate and lollypops. There, Lechuck and Elaine are waiting for him to drink tea. They eat cake and live happy ever after.

Is it weird that I would actually REALLY enjoy this?

I'd like to see another dream sequence. Dancing skeletons FTW

Yeah, That scene after Guybrush hits his head is just laugh out loud goofiness. I am with you on more skeletons

The Voodoo Lady can't possibly be a man - she doesn't have an Adam's apple :p

Now I don''t believe this at all. But here goes.

We know Elaine is quite capable of protecting herself from Lechuck and he ended up on Monkey island right? He died. However he did not depart.

And due to sveral mission for Elaine Guybrush has also ended up on Monkey Island.

    Is Elaine the true villain?

Here's an altenate explantion for SOMI if Elaine was intended to be the real villain.

Guybrush is used as a stalking horse against her first unsuccsful victim, and sent on a wild goose chase to Monkey Island where all who have gone have died. Against all odds he survives and is about to defeat Le Chuck when Elaine intervenes giving Le Chuck a new focus for his anger.

Now I must stress I don't believe this to be true. But it would certainly shake the worldm of Monkey Island to it's core

Guybrush returns to Flotsam Island, but forget about a hero's welcome. Handed over to De Singe by the backstabbing Morgan LeFlay, Guybrush is seized by an angry mob and put on trial! With a silk-tongued prosecutor in his face and a hangman's noose dangling over his neck, Guybrush must figure out how to defend himself against grave accusations. Meanwhile, the determined Marquis sets his sights on a new and far more attractive test subject. How on earth will the Mighty Pirate get out of this mess? The monthly Tales of Monkey Island tension continues to mount in "The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood." Brace yourself for a shocking revelation that will rock the world of Monkey Island to its core.

Now, my big question is what do they mean!? Does DeSinge now want Elaine? Maybe Zombie Pirate Morgan isn't that far off. I can see it now Zombie Pirates LeFay and LeChuck rampaging the Caribbean after Guybrush and Elaine respectively.

I'm gonna go ahead and say, after skimming through this whole thread, there may be a couple of these that are true...

We will find out the real Secret of Monkey Island (tm)!

    Nah, only kidding.

All this talk of Captain Marley and his crew is fun, though. I always liked the pre-game talk. It gave the series life and a rich history. I wouldn't be against some more epic historical tales. I'd even like to hear more about Captain Marley et al. Providing it stays within established continuity. Besides, who wouldn't like to hear from Rapp Scallion again?!

I have a stinkin' suspicion that this big plottwist thingy is the reason for the lack of release dates and screenshots.... and I like it!

I thought I originally heard rumors for EFMI that you'd get a chance to play as Elaine. I'd think that'd be neat, something like when you got to control Henry Sr and Sophia in the Indiana Jones games.

This is my theory, on the entire thing. It's all a dream, like MI2.

It's not like that at all. I've seen a few times in other threads since July ppl saying they're used to not seeing other playable characters in MI and wish it to remain that way. I personally would enjoy a puzzle or three played by another character. We've already had two borderline cases (LeChuck in ch2 and the Voodoo Lady in ch3) that I thought worked very well.
I beg to Differ, I thought controlling the Voodoo Lady was really good. I must admit I was opposed to the idea at first, But I had fun with it. I tried using everything in the Voodoo ladies pockets with everything. Also, I thought It was hilarious how Guybrush was acting in her body.

    I had the same experience.

I'm too lazy to find the original post citing the adams apple thing (and I know it's not serious), but the adams apple is just a part of the larynx, which both genders have.
