I wounder what happens AFTER Monkey Island...

No, this is not a plug for the amazing flash series to do an extra episode*

But, after MI, what happens to this forum? I mean, it kinda loses meaning to come after it's all over. What's gonna happen to everyone now that we don't have an excuse to waste our time here?

I will find other, equally useless ways to waste my time :)

Well, I'm sure it will be just like 9 years ago. We will contunue to speculate when the next Monkey Island game will come out and post rumors for the next 6 years and THEN we will stop coming back here once it's hopeless.. :D

The forum will continue for awhile.
Topics (after all of those "what did you think about chapter 5" topics):

    1. When will chapter X be released on the Wii
    2. For Europe?
    3. When will the DVD be ready?
    4. Ideas for the new season
    5. WHen will the new season be announced
    6. WTF! THere is no new season!
    7. Happy Fool's Day
    8. (Sticky) Tales of Monkey Island - Season Premiere 12/7/2010

And of course, several current threads will continue

There will never be a TMI Season Two. There may be a 6th Monkey Island game, though. You can't have a second season for something that doesn't even have a first!

I'm totally making this up, but my guess is we'd get the next MI game Summer 2010. It's late enough for old fans to wish for another one and early enough to keep the new fans interested.

And between now and then... we'd see.

I know it and you know it, but aparently many folks don't.
Just check the forum for the word "season"

It doesn't take much of a leap to conclude that those kind of topics will emerge sooner or later. I just got carried away with the last one, that one should be

Or it could be not Tales of Monkey Island, but
(The) *some kind of word here other than Secret, Revenge, Curse, Escape, Tales* of/from/at/in/heckknowswhat Monkey Island.

Despite the episode numbering (101 etc) I'm not sure there will be a second season, even though I REALLY want there to be. I imagine writing and implementing the MI script was much more time consuming than the other Telltale projects (not to discredit them, they're all fantastic) and I'm sure they've seen how rabid us MI fans are. We're a difficult lot to please... and of course they've managed it.

The plural 'Tales' however does suggest a plan for another series as I'd expect this particular adventure to be one tale rather than five.

Sure, for me it could be The Mxyzptlk Of Monkey Island: Escape from the Fifth Dimension and will still buy it.

I tell you what though, ok we know this has been a success for TTG, they will not stop here but I would really appreciate would be some more openness from side AFTER this season is done. 'Yes we take on board your criticism and will work on this and that and will change things around for the next chapter.' Some of TTG's approach to games are a little too formulaic for me, how about some radical changes, this is after all going to be their largest franchise in history for the foreseeable future at least. In particular the way objects are handled, manipulation thereof and making the games feel more adventurey - sometimes I felt like I was watching some dialogues with a few puzzles thrown in for good measure, the gaming side not being central enough and in particular the adventuring aspect (which is the whole point), in its true sense, did not shine through. This game could be so much better, let's see it grow. Please don't just do another season with same engine. I won't sign up however much I enjoyed this season (I'm still on the fence and firmly in the 7/10 (ish)camp).

There will be another season. A company that suddenly sees huge growths through taking on a once thought dead franchise like this with good reviews and good sales does not just drop it.

Except for CSI, Sam & Max is really the only continuous series TTG has done. Strong Bad and Wallace & Gromit only received one "season" with no promises for more. It's hard to tell what TTG will do because it's still a relatively new game company.

I can agree with what you're saying to some extent. Occasionally I've felt that the puzzles pretty much solve themselves. I'd like to see Telltale find a way to include verbs or something similar that gives you options when interacting with items. If I had to come up with 5 things I'd like to see in another series, that would top the list.

What would you call if it not a season then? A series?

I echoe that MI is way too popular to just drop. There has to be a s2, but I def believe it won't be untill the summer because TTG couldn't have planned a s2 so fast.

I say, the ending of Chapter 5 should be like the ending of LeChuck's revenge.
And by that I mean it should fuel discussion lasting 9 years, minimum.
    Then everything is alright.

I am a little afraid.... There is still one more chapter coming out within the next two weeks and there doesn't seem like that much going on in these boards like in the past....

I fear I will not have anyone left to talk about MI with after the game has come and gone... .. :C

Well, we can pretend there's a chapter 6. We'd have threads like "Where is Chapter 6?", "Vote for a Chapter 6 title" and "I wonder what Happens in Chapter 6".

On the other hand that would just be sad.

I'll be sticking around for blatant and not so blatant speculation for awhile after... I still haven't found a "What colour is Guybrush's toothbrush?" thread (my theory is purple), so plenty more to talk about until the next game comes out.

And also, Sam n Max!! :)

    A game, sequel, MI6, continuation...Probably just 'game'.

Actually, now that I think of it, it wouldn't be so bad to call it a 'season.' I was initially against it because I believed that eludes one to believe it's a collection of random 'episodes' but that's not necessarily true. There are TV shows that have random episodes and also other TV shows that are all just one big story connected by a series of "to be continued" 'chapters.' Like Lost, Heroes, 24, Prison Break, and of course the horrifically popular soap operas.

So I take it back. It's released monthly so you can could it a season. It just bugs me that people call them "episodes" (loosely connected series of small games) instead of "chapters" (slices of one big game).
