Just wondering the average age of a Monkey Island fan, these days...

    I'm only 30.

I thought there was a thread like this already? :)

I bet that, just like me, many are in their late twenties or thirties, because they are the generation who were kids/teenagers when the original titles came out.

Yikes! At 64 I feel out of place.

My first taste of MI was the pre-release demo of SMI that came in a box of 5 1/4 inch floppies. Then I bought each game as soon as it hit the streets.

A decade before that I played "Adventure," then moved on to Zork and various Infocom (and Infocom-like) games. SMI was my first graphic game.

So now the question is, how old were people when SMI first came out?

    I think I was around 11 or 12.

    17. It's the greatest age to be.

When SMI came out I was completely non-existent...

    The Secret of Monkey Island 1990 - I was -1 or -1.
    Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge 1991 - I was -1 or 0.
    The Curse of Monkey Island 1997 - I was 5 or 6.
    Escape from Monkey Island 2000 - I was 8 or 9.
    Tales of Monkey Island 2009 - I am 18.

And I'm officialy a MI fan for 50% of my life. The percentage will grow with every year... I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, though.

I just turned 17 yesterday, and when SMI was released I was -2 years old!! My sister also happens to be a fan but she's like 8. Actually, I started Monkey Island when I was 4, and never finished the first one because we got MI2 and somehow the other one disappeared. Probably a reformat, but I don't know, I was 4!

I didn't actually even finish MI2 until I was 8, and it took some hardcore logical thinking on my end to get past that last LeChuck voodoo part. So either I was really, really smart, or really, really stupid back then.

I got SMI again when I was 14 and finished that easily. I breezed through CMI at 15, and actually, I never really played to the end of EMI (I got to the part with the Monkey Kombat but got too bored to finish the game) and now I am currently playing TMI and like it more or less.

In my opinion of rating I would give first place to MI2, second to CMI, third to SMI, fourth to TMI, and last to EMI.

    (2, 3, 1, 4, "5" respectively)

    EDIT:
What a nice surprise it was too when I received that gift from TellTale for the Halloween contest in my e-mail. Thanks :)

Depending on the month, I was 17 or 18 when SoMI came out for the Amiga.

Actually, if we've all given our age as of "now", shouldn't it be pretty easy to figure out how old we were when SoMI first came out? :)

Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge 1991 Only two years old... Never played this until the late nineties!

The Curse of Monkey Island 1997 This one I was eight... but did it really come out in '97? I was sure it was '95, around the time my youngest brother was born... oh well.

Escape from Monkey Island 2000 I was eleven for this one's release...

Tales of Monkey Island 2009 And now I'm twenty! Yay! :D
