Well, I guess I shouldn't hide a fact of me being proud of something.

    Hello,

We here at Telltale see your video as capturing high points from the first Tales of Monkey Island chapters quite well.

As we're prepping materials for the season finale, we're having some folks nearby cut a video modelled after moments you astutely pulled out in your piece.

We'd started on a video like this just as we saw your piece, and this did a good job in capturing the impact of the series arc so far.

    Nice work!

    Joel Dreskin, Telltale Marketing

    So I am proud :)

    So I am proud :)

What does this have to do with this one? I don't get it...
  • edited November 2009
Because this one is based on mine this and this.

Oh ok, excuse me. :) I don't follow all the threads so it was a tad confusing.
Very well done I might add!!

And now to repeat the noticable special appearance by Earl Boen, redoing the lines from chapter 1!!
  • edited November 2009
isnt that kinda unfair? they stole more or less stole your work....
  • edited November 2009
Well, I DO hope they'll mention me on this official site, if they ever put the trailer on it (I mean, it's not like it will be exclusive to gametrailers... right?)

EDIT: Besides, Joel Dreskin agreed to help me make a ToMI movie (you know, with alternative ingame footage) I was planning to do, in any way possible.

Is that email above directed to you? or to the guy of GT?

Dude, pride is WELL warranted!! I'm sure TTG will be cool enough to give you some creds when they blog it. GINORMOUS kudos to you. :D

I'm excited already! Nice to know that there is a tiny light shining in the darkness that will follow the end of TMI. :p

wait, where did that hand-from-the-grave clip come from?!

Tales of Monkey Island, Chapter 5: RISE OF THE PIRATE GOD!

    Probably. :p

It excited me to a ridiculous degree.

2.20 is a short clip from chapter 5 aswell. Zombie lechuck has only appeared nocturnally so far, and that is a sunset/sunrise scene

    [/nerd]

WOW!!! That was too awesome! Loved the two new mini-clips and Earl Boen's return! I think this confirms it. Yay! :D

By the way, anyone noticed the extended version that played on the background of "The Swordfight"? It was fantastic. Maybe that's the version they'll include in the soundtrack.

If I was new to the story I'm not sure if that vid would properly make me catch up on the story so far. Plus, the volume of voices was a little low compared to the music's - or is there something wrong with my speakers?

Ah, what am I complaining about - there are bits of chapter 5 in it that hit me completely unexpecting - whoohoo! :D

    Telltale Games, methinks...

I think that was taken from the opening scene as it originally was meant to look like - later they decided for a little more drama and made it take place at night in the rain.

    Methinks you are correct.

Why is "methinks" a word my computer recognizes? Shouldn't spell-check catch that?

Good to hear that Earl Boen was involved in the re-recording of LeChucks dialogue from Episode 1

    It's a perfectly cromulent intransitive verb. :p

Deleted shot, alternate shot? Who knows but I honestly don't think we'll be hearing Lechuck doing another one of his HAR HAR HARS in chapter 5

Can't say I'll miss them. Adam Harrington did a nice job, but the har har thing was too over the top.

you know i realy like that trailer.
the GT version(witch i guess is made by TTG themself) is better in a few aspects but it would have realy benefited with the Pyratie Pirrot Opening xD

This was a good recap, but it was missing a clip of Guybrush's actual death. Throw in a short clip of Guybrush getting stabbed by LeChuck, or maybe him dying in Elaine's arms. Then cut to the tombstone.

Otherwise, you really don't get the sense that Guybrush has actually.. uhm died.
  • edited November 2009
Hmmm. Here's the question we have to ask, though. If Guybrush is coming back to life, is this a voodoo-zombie type "come-back-to-life", or some kind of god-miracle "come-back-to-life"?

I don't know if anyone already pointed this out, but...

Be sure to watch it all the way to the end.

Sweet! The problem with watching this awesomeness is that it makes me wish the days away leading up to chapter 5's release day. XD

I agree with that actually. They did show the scene where Elaine and LeChuck go into the swordfight at the end of chapter 4, but I think it would have made the trailer just that little bit better if they'd shown the moment LeChuck actually stabs Guybrush.

Still, a very good trailer. Nicely edited and very exciting, methinks! (oh hey, my computer recognizes that word too!)

Earl has re recorded the first chapter :D

I know i'm going to get flamed for this, but i kind of actually preffered the Original Ch1 dub to Boen's dub. Thats probably because it's out of context though. Don't get me wrong, Earl is an excellent voice actor, it will just take a little getting used to hearing him do those lines.
  • edited November 2009
I am SO happy to hear Earl Boen reading those lines from Chapter 1! With respect to Adam Harrington, who had a thankless task and made it more or less work, I truly hope Boen re-recorded all the LeChuck dialogue from Chapter 1, and that that version will appear on the DVD. For me, that would be perfection. As for human LeChuck, Kevin Blackton really made the part his own.

It's worth noting that the music in this trailer seems to be a special arrangement by Michael Land, as opposed to a simple cut-and-paste job. Hope it gets released on its own someday, as it's a nice, lengthy development!

This is unrelated, but it kinda annoys me how LeChuck has two seperate actors for his two forms. It sounded really unusual and weird
when he got his pox again and talked, I was really used to that awesome voice he had when he was human
. He could have one actor doing the both voices I mean, and that would sound more consistent.

Nah. His Human voice is perfect for that character and his Demon voice is perfect for that character. It's up to the individual but I think each actor captured it perfectly and I don't notice a big difference.

Maybe it's just me. As one stated in another thread, Zombie LeChuck sounds some kinda like... Robotnik.
