Thank You -- From Dominic

Hey, everybody!

I hate to clog up the 'tubes with another thank you thread, but with chapter five imminent and Monkey Island once again about to sail off into the sunset until who-knows-when (me included!), I just wanted to take a moment to thank everybody who loves the series and has made its resurrection so exciting.

It probably goes without saying, but even if I hadn't been a huge fan of Monkey Island before getting to work on it, I can't imagine it not being the highlight of my time in voiceover. There's nothing else I've worked on where people love it so much, where they're so involved in its process, and where the stakes are so high... and the pressure so great :-)

But all of you have been incredibly kind and supportive, and while I imagined there would be a lot of excitement when Monkey Island's return was announced, reality has most definitely eclipsed my wildest expectations. The excitement, the support, the throngs at PAX, the e-mails, the drawings, the movies... criminy, the birthday wishes!...well, it's a thing to behold :-)

So I'm going to cut this short before I really start to ramble, but suffice it to say that while I appreciate the things you've had to say, I'm the one who should be thanking you, because I've been incredibly lucky to be able to work on Guybrush all these years, and it wouldn't mean anything without your support.

You guys absolutely rock, and I (really, really, really) hope we get to do this again soon!

-Dom

    Thanks for being Guybrush, Dom!!

It's nice to see that you enjoyed your time making the series so much. I'm sure the community here will be around for a while yet to appreciate your work, and what you have done for the series. I just couldn't imagine anyone else filling the role quite the same.

OMG! That would be so much better than the snobby woman that tells me to 'turn around where possible' on bridges!

Innovative substitute directions, that get you there just about how you intended.

Dom you're one of the nicest people ever. Thanks so much for your work and hopefully this isn't the last. And in case we don't get a chance to say it later, Merry Christmas!

Awww... That post really made my day, even before the release of Chapter Five got a chance to make it! ;)

Dom, it's been a real pleasure! :) It's so great to hear you're enjoying your voice-over job so much (and not just for the money ;)), and I believe everyone here will agree with me when I say we're at least as thankful as you are. Thank you so much, Dom, for having brought Guybrush Threepwood to life so many times! You and your voice rock!!!

And I also hope we can do this again very soon, and for a very long time! :D

Dom, your work in the Monkey Island series continuously amused throughout the years of playing the games. I've never been so excited for a game release, always looking forward to seeing the new adventures of Guybrush Threepwood. These last few months have been a wild ride and I couldn't of been more happier with the result of resurrecting one of my favorite video game series as I've been playing Monkey Island since the old dos days when I was a kid. I truly think its now a matter of when, not if, Guybrush Threepwood will make his return in the future. Congrats on wrapping up the series and I look forward to be playing it in the next few hours.

see you next year? ( or hear you next year?)

If only we knew when to expect to hear your voice in LeChuck's Revenge...

    You're welcome!

Seriously, thanks to your great voice-acting job in the Monkey Island series, the transition from the old subtitles-only games was much easier than I expected, back when CMI was released. Your voice has become just as iconic as Guybrush himself.

Just a final question... was it fun recording the "how much wood..." lines?

    Really nice letter, Dominic :D

But I thank you for your best portrayal of Guybrush (so far?) and also, for being here at the forums, actually "talking" with us. I know it sounds kinda "nerdy", but that's how I feel... And anyway, aren't we all nerds after all?

    Again, thank you Dominic.

Thanks Dom! Your voice really takes Monkey Island way beyond perfect. Happy holidays and all that and hope to hear from you again in the "hopefully not a nine year long" future :)

The cast, crew, and forum people who have made MI's resurrection such a fantastic experience are very much appreciated - thanks guys!!

The most gracious thanks. I started playing Monkey Island in 1990 when I was 8 years old. My father and uncle introduced the game to me. I remember when they announced Monkey Island 3. I was 14 years old in Jr. High School. You took my favorite childhood character to a new level. The voice was perfect, and didn't change the way I viewed the silent version from years before.

Thanks for your dedication and your desire to do this for the fans. I can guarantee that it means a lot to me and it would appear from everyone here.

I wish you the best in your endeavors and hope, as well as most, that the next installment will come sooner than later.

    Thanks!

Thanks Dom! You're brilliant at the Guybrush voice, and one of the best voice actors ever in my opinion. Your demo tape just screams brilliance.

I can't believe it's the end already. Not ready to say goodbye to MI again. *sob* Really hope to see/hear you return for either/or series 2 or Monkey Island 2: Special Edition. ... Or Monkey Island: The Movie!

    Bye!

Let me join the choir of "thank you"s and say I hope along with most if not all the rest of the guys here on the forum to hear your voice soon in an enhanced edition of MI2.

Let me also take this opportunity to point out to Telltale that a season 2 of Tales of Monkey Island would be a guarantee of my money in your bank. ;)

Now that I mention it, so would a season 3 of Sam and Max. Here's hoping for both. :D

What a lovely guy. Even more excited about interviewing him this week now! Best ask every last question left!

    Dominic,
You are truly an amazing person. Someone who goes out of their way to talk and even thank the fans on the forums, well that's just being an overall awesome guy. I could think of no other being Guybrush Threepwood other than you, and for you to jump back into character was probably the greatest treat any of us as fans could get, and for that really am thankful that you are still being the Mighty Pirate. So to end this soon-to-be long diatribe; thank you Dominic, for the 5 (plus SMI:SE!) greatest months all of us had ever had, and may we see you very soon in a hopeful second season of Tales of Monkey Island.

    -Mickey

    P.S.
Keep in touch with us fans! :)

    Your Welcome Dom!

I can still remember that first time I heard the voice of Guybrush Threepwood on Escape. Never once Did I question that your voice was not Guybrush Threepwood's very own. I think you have always done excellent work and that why you got that job in the first place. Fact is that you have endured the lifecycle of this Series, and it is a credit to your skills and dedication. Indeed, we the fans should thank you.
