    That's just mean.

Well, at first I thought of making a joke about French-style breasts, but instead of the stereotype of topless showing another stereotype...
    But I chickened out.

Well, I guess now that I'm mentioned it I might as well post it. Warning: there are hairs. LOTS of hairs. Hairy hairs. Ewwww, hairs!
Okay, that should be enough warning. Here you go.

Speaking of which, that stereotype isn't true either. I think the figure was 2% of women who don't shave both legs and armpits, and that includes women who only shave one of the two (such as my mom. She's a doctor and she says that although shaving your legs is perfectly fine, shaving your armpits is more "risky", as hairs regulate perspiration, meaning you sweat more if you remove the hairs, and due to the position, that means sweaty skin rubbing against sweaty skin, which increases the risks of rashes and maceration. And of course if you actually shave rather than wax or otherwise remove the hair completely (such as with tweezers or electric tweezers), you can add to that risks of infection and ingrown hairs.
Of course all of that is still pretty low, especially if you use antiperspirant. Which she doesn't because she says sweat regulates temperature, and preventing sweating instead of washing it off by taking showers is not only gross but can potentially lead to heat strokes.
She's a bit paranoid sometimes. I think it comes with being a doctor, she knows the risks linked to everything.)
The number of women who don't shave is higher if you're talking about another type of shaving, but that's definitely not safe for this forum.

I'm constantly amazed by how far off-topic we can get. From The Devil's Playhouse to boobies to hairs to sweat.
  • edited March 2010
This is the first time I've actually seen a boob topic go to hairs and sweat...
Guys mostly just stick to the boobies... But well, live and learn...
  • edited March 2010
Well, I'm a female, that might be why lol. But I personally prefer not staying on boobs for too long, it seems to be too "dangerous". You know, easily drifts in forbidden territory, and I don't have the best concept of what's ok or not here.
  • edited March 2010
Hmmm... I actually think armpit hair and sweat are dirtier topics...
But maybe I'm just really out there or something... ;)
  • edited March 2010
Well they're more clinical and less sexual, so I thought it might be more okay :P

    Ooh, you meant bare ones?

I expected a rick roll or something completely unrelated. When I opened this, I laughed so hard tears came out of my eyes. Then I clicked the second link you posted and tears came out of my eyes, but I wasn't laughing. D:

I don't really know why hair bothers us guys; we have enough of it as it is. I'm not really THAT bothered by it though; I like natural beauty. I'm immature though, so I'd probably make a big deal out of it, and totally embarrass or ridicule somebody. I can think of some great nicknames already. Sasquatch. Yeti. Abominable Snow-woman.

    >=D Mwahahahaha.

@tbm1986: Haha. I'm good. Thanks though. I like breasts, but I don't go looking for them. If you can have as many as you want, then where is the sexiness or the value or the mystery? I think some things should be earned. Google is easy, but where is the reward in that? (That sounds like an old lady, lol)

I was a lurker in the Monkey Island preorder forums, and I shall lurk here as well. Time to go waaay back to the beginning. Culture shock. Hope to have played through both seasons by the time 301 comes out.

Here's a random question: Once we have these nifty collector's DVDs, is there any benefit to playing them from the DVD? It's more conveniant to download them and play them without having to dig out the DVD-ROM, but if they graphically tweeked it or anything like that, I'll do it that way...

Can someone please explain to me... why are you guys talking about boobs again?

I think most guys don't care that much. Some prefer it one way or the other, but most don't seem to really care. Women are the one who really care about it. Kinda like with makeup and perfume. Actually, I know more guys who dislike makeup and perfume than guys who like them.

I think it's all cultural and depends on what you were exposed to. Since my mom didn't shave her armpits, and even though I did so early on (around 12 year old) due to peer pressure, when I see hairless armpits it just looks off to me. Not normal. Weird.
You'd think I'd be used to it by now but I'm not, every time a woman lifts her arm and I see she doesn't have hairs I get a small shock. Probably similar to what most people feel when there are hairs.

So far, apart from Wallace and Gromit, the other DVDs didn't have internet authentication. So if you prefer that, it might be an advantage.
They would also be the latest version, with bugs fixed, but you could always re-download them, too, since they get updated online as well.

    We need a reason?

So, what sort of threads do you guys want to see in here? During Monkey we obviously did lots of Q&As and Ryan ran a concept art thread, I believe. I'm sure we'll do things like that. Any ideas?

Well, Jake, as you can see we're getting a bit restless in here so anything will be appreciated :P

What you said sounds great. I don't really have more ideas... It might be funny to have a backwards Q&A where you're the one asking questions but with so many people to answer, I don't think anything other than polls would work. Plus you probably don't really have questions for us.

Any behind-the-scenes stuff you can rummage up without spoiling any future story elements would be neat. Small-scale contest(s) could be fun. If you want to get really crazy, you could make puzzles that lead to a new screenshot, a bit of concept art, or some relevant block of text, going into mini-ARG territory.

I loved the Q&A's with the writers in the Monkey Pre-order forum. It would also be interesting to hear about the process of getting the Telltale Tool onto the PS3 and what you've been doing on Sam & Max for the last 9 months. Any behind the scenes stuff is great.

I'm not sure what you guys did back in the TMI pre-order forum, since I pre-ordered like a minute before Launch of the Screaming Narwhal was released and I couldn't post anymore back then.

But I these things would be welcomed by anyone:
    - Q&A's & Interviews
    - Contests
    - Hiring pre-orderers on the spot
    - Having some super attractive pre-order bonuses (Like a Freelance Police badge) :D
    - More boob talk

Wow! In only a month! How cool. I haven't read any Adèle Blanc-Sec, but I rather like Tardi... Well, the little I know of him. I loved La Débauche. Of course, Pennac wrote it, so I'm biased, but I liked Tardi's art.

Anyways, that movie looks pretty interesting. If you're wondering, in the end the guys says "I'm counting on you, gentlemen, for this file to stay confidential. Don't tell anything to the media".

I like how the actors' looks are obviously rather faithful to the graphic novel. It gives a weird atmosphere to the whole thing.

Considering Fifth Element was heavily inspired by Métal Hurlant, I'm not too surprised Besson is going for sequential art again. I'm looking forward to it.

And if the people we don't talk to much still read the forums or are told about it by the others or not at all.

what do you mean by that?

    By which part?

The first part, I meant that I'd like to hear anecdotes about what's hardest with the forum (Is it people asking if the DVD is available yet? Is it people complaining about shipping? Is it people complaining about the controls?), and what's good.
For the second part, I meant, is everyone aware of the forums, what's going on them and stuff, or just the people who post here often? Do they sometimes call "hey, come here, look at that stupid stuff avistew just posted, she's really clueless", or something?

I'm just curious about the effect the community has on the company as a whole. I realise we don't talk often to most of them, I was wondering if they were aware of us and to what extent.

I also wonder how stuff like the contests go, who decides what contest to organise, who decides who wins.

Things like that. I'm very narcissistic, what with being a gamer and all.

Knew when we are a pain in the butt, when we are good forum users and how they destress theirselfes when somebody asks about Point and Click.

Sometimes, I don't wanna know. But, thanks to avistew, I wanna know too!

I know there have been a few times, during the monkey island run. That they've listened. A good case in point, is the tarot cards a few of the forumers asked about if they could make them, and well there they are.

Also about the dialog for the first game they fixed something pertaining to the dialog.

Being a gamer, I understand that.

However, can't really talk about that until we played The Penal Zone, can we now?

Liking tech-stuff I second someone's suggesting of seeing some of the working involved in the engine and stuff. Probably not what most are looking for though.

Technical goofs are always fun too, and I am sure during S&M season3's creation there were plenty of them as always when making a game/animated movie. Floating Max ears, if Sam put his hands in his pockets they went through the cloth etc.

Hairy armpits have never bothered me, nor have hairless. Hairy legs do (stubble is fine) and for the other area...my tastes are too graphical to mention here. Anyways enough about controversial ground.

I would love to see all previously mentioned happen in this thread, that being:
    • Engine stuff
    • Story stuff
    • What you lot think of us
    • A bit about the core team making the game
    • Q&A with Steve Purcell and members of the team
    • Contests (with limited edition prizes, not coupons for stuff we already have)
    • Concept art
    • Music samples

Another vote for some behind-the-scenes tools and stuff, it would be really neat to see. Too much of it might get in the way, but a few videos showing how various things are put together would be really, really cool.

I would like to know if this forum is going to keep going while the season is underway. I seem to remember someone saying that the Private Pirates' Forum would be something that would last the entire season, but if I remember correctly, that closed after the first episode was released. I think there are a lot of interesting questions to ask after playing an episode or two.
