Wow gamestop is getting cheap on telling me about my purchases.
I preorderd kingdom hearts re:coded for tomarrow and here was the message I got about it today via phone call

Hello this is mary from gamestop with an important message.
Hello this is mary from gamestop. We are pleased to inform you that "a game" has arrived and can be picked up tomarrow.

I get you cant record a person over and over again for each game, and that someone saying the gmae and adding it is the only true way, but when you pause and have someone else just say "a game" that gets pretty cheap.

Cant wait to hear what they do with the 3ds.

"Hello, you can pick something up at midnight. I think. Maybe."

Whats sad is that is probably true.

When I went to preorder there was a HUGE line. Or at least huge for video game standerds. and I didnt see any games in most of their hands, so either Kingdom hearts is way more popular than I thought and Im going to have a fun time tomarrow fighting for it, or what you said is true.

Really? I was the first one to preorder my 3DS at my Gamestop, and I went a few hours after they opened.

Yeah there was a big line, of course they all could have preorderd other games... hopefully.

Or maybe they will keep a certain amount of copys for preorders and maybe 3or 4 for other people.
Or I should dash to gamestop the night before and have a camp out with friends. Whoever comes with me gets to watch it in action.

I preordered as well, but from Amazon, and I cheaped out and got the free shipping, so I'm probably going to have the game in my hands on Saturday. This is probably a good thing, as I'll need the extra four days to even come close to finishing the last 5 floors as Riku, the last ~200 days as Roxas, and all of Kingdom Hearts II.

4 days to play all 3 of those? Really, you better have those days off. or one day dedicated to Kingdom Hearts.
  • edited January 2011
I don't really have anything to do for those four days, but I'm still not going to finish in time. Riku's going pretty fast, though.

It thinks it needs to read the music from the disc still, which the original retail release did. Obviously reading music from the disc is optional, yet they didn't completely remove the code for that yet, meaning music would still play from your disc if it contained an audio track.

Actually, that'd be kind of interesting, having a game pick up whatever sound tracks were on the CD in your drive versus whatever its original soundtrack was. I'd have to start going through my CD collection to find out which tracks would sound best/worst/funniest with which games!

It'd be pretty cool actually. I'm not a very good DM (it takes me a while to come up with a scenario because I'm kind of a literary perfectionist), but I'd be willing to do it if we had people interested.

That would be awesome of you. It's also possible that someone else with experience in the game might show up and offer to DM, or someone might take over for you down the line once some of us catch up. Why don't we get a thread going and see who's interested? I'll start it if you want, but it might be better if you do, since you're the one who has a grasp on how to manage it with Skype.

Also, someone's totally going to have to help me figure out how to use Skype.

Whenever I listen to Joe Satriani, I just can't help but move my body.

Satch is a great! Especially his live stuff; I actually think that he sounds way better live than he does on the studio albums.

The snow has made me introspective and somewhat moody. It's really annoying, as these are states in which I seldom dwell.
  • edited January 2011
I expect to get ten-to-twenty inches of snow overnight.

I love living in New England.

Do you have windows or mac? If you have mac, I can help you with Skype no problem.

The thread is a good idea, especially if we get a big enough group interested. Our group of five on Skype is having a problem with our dropbox filling up atm and we don't really have all that much in it. Should I stick it under general chat or would there be a better area of the forum to post it?

One of the things that's great about this forum is its randomness. Well, this is the epitome of it: a thread for whatever random thought happens to be passing through your mind.

For example, I've just been struck by the most random craving for Taco Bell nachos.

    I love nachos.

I'm still asking how you can play D&D using Skype!

Windows. I'm sure someone'll be able to help, and if not there's always Google. And General Chat would be fine for it.

We use a Dropbox for character sheets, books, etc. Gametable for the combat situations and a web dice roller that lets everyone with the same password see the rolls. Combined with Skype's audio chat it works pretty well. We basically just started with the Dropbox and Skype and just sort of kept trying things out to see what worked and what didn't until we got a system going. I'm the only one that has a problem really and that's because the character create for 4e doesn't work on Mac so I have to use a web character creator to gen my sheets, but that's pretty minor all things considered.

    Guru, what's your issue?
  • edited January 2011
Just played a bit of re:coded and I am not a huge fan of the gameplay, mainly selecting abilities such as fire and the camera. Im sure I can find a way around that.
EDIT:I do like everything else on gameplay such as the gear matrix and how you can replay worlds to find other goodies that you missed, and actually replay them similar to 358 days.

Absolutely no experience, that's all. I've never had a reason to use Skype, so I've never looked into it, so I don't know where to start.

Would love it if they had made an actual D&D styled game based on the part of yu-gi-oh where they go into that RPG styled world created by Kaiba (I think it was that one, haven't watched the series in a looong time, so my memory is hazy)

DM could have a really powerful duel deck that you have to build to to beat
He could also design dungeons that use the cards. (some tiles have trap cards, some have monsters)
Players would have their decks made from a base pool of cards, which they add to by winning duels, defeating monsters, trading, and buying from shops.

Hehe, nothing terribly awful, although I'm a little alarmed at how much I've managed to deteriorate between the start of December and the start of January. Excess partying and zero exercise will do that I guess. :/

I dunno, given a choice between advanced yoga and excess partying....

This is the reason I love writing stuff. "He appears to have a grudge against rabbits, but is otherwise understanding towards most animals. Do not ask about the Rabbit problem, he will break down. The one thing you will understand is that there were 'big bunnies in the forest'."

The Batman fan-community are a bunch of fickle bitches. Out of some unconfirmed casting rumors regarding Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel being up for roles in The Dark Knight Rises, plus an article saying Talia al Ghul is in the movie and the assumption Catwoman is probably not, they've decided this will be Nolan's first flop, Nolan is a hack, Nolan is the new Schumacher, TDKR is now on a I will probably wait for the DVD list, and TDKR will flop. Oh, and Nolan raped their 2012.

Excuse me while I have a nice, long laugh at their expense.
