I'm sorry, but this is bullshit. There are PLENTY of one-shot comics, short series, and self-contained story arcs that a person can "get into" them at any point. What you're saying only somewhat applies to the "legacy" big-name Superhero shit. Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, etc. The big Marvel and DC universes are large and intimidating, but writers take great pains to make sure that people can jump in at the start of any given story arc. When they aren't as "easy to get into", they often provide editor's notes when something is based off a far earlier issue. You're applying a trope to an entire medium, and that's a fallacy. And even in the cases you're referring to, it's an intermittent "problem" at worst.
I have to agree with Dashing on this actually. I'd dropped out of reading Green Lantern for a few years (3 of 4), came back to it during the Blackest Night event series and, to be honest, I didn't really feel all that confused. A good writer will establish pertinent continuity to what arc he's writing and continue from there. Now, to be fair, not all comic book writers do this (the mess that was Amazons Attack is a good example of handling this badly), but most of the time if they're mucking this up, you don't want to be reading their comics.
Actually, I was hoping someone would call bullshit on that. I knew that what I was saying had to be wrong in some way (how else would comics be profitable?), and I was hoping for someone to correct it. I'm pretty ignorant about anything related to print comics, but I do know that I'm ignorant about it.
I think it's awesome news that car insurance is becoming equalized regardless of gender (well, more or less anyway)
Heh. I was listening to Jeremy Vine on Radio 2, he does this whole 'phone in and tell me your opinions on the current news and stuff' type thing. All the men who rang in said it was great news, and all the women who rang in said it sucked! Made me laugh!
I love the fact that shouting in Old Norse always sounds badass even if what you're yelling doesn't relate to your conversation. I got a chance to use, 'Vesall ertu þinnar Skjalborgar' on someone earlier, this is why I mention it.
Kinda like how when Taiwanese people always sound like they're arguing with each other even though they're just having an average conversation?

As far as I know it evens out for both sides, it goes down for males, and increases slightly for females to match a closer percentage to what males are paying. People want equality and they complain when they get it!

Oh, hahaha, Blackest Night, you mean that piece of shit where DC Comics killed off a villain with an enormous amount of potential before he was able to reach that potential, namely Roman Sionis aka Black Mask? At Pamela Isley's hand no less? SCREW THAT NOISE. Why am I bringing it up? No reason really, it's just an enormous peeve on my part.

Pretty much, yeah. Old Norse makes you sound like you're going to knock down someone's door and punch them in the face, even if you're talking about Loki and Thor's cross-dressing shenanigans in Þrymskviða.

Yeah, that was a really, really stupid move on DC's end (I REALLY wish they hadn't done that, but DC's been really good at wasting potential since 52 finished up), but for the most part I thought the idea of the multiple kinds of lanterns and the threat of the Black Lanterns in general was very well done. The Red Lanterns in particular were quite fun, I think my favorite bit in the whole damn event was when Atrocitus got his heart ripped out by one of the Black Lanterns and proceeded to beat what passed for the guys head in.

I was honestly fine with Catwoman killing him, and I thought that that was the perfect ending for him when it comes to poetic justice if any. If they wanted to kill him, they should have left it at that, instead of bringing him back for such a humiliating finale. Seriously, that...just....pisses me off to no end. The idea of the actual comic is very cool, though, but I'm afraid to read any more of it because I just don't want to know how else they may have screwed up.

They didn't HORRIBLY screw up, not until they got to Brightest Day which I stopped reading 3 issues in. They actually did some interesting stuff in general with the Lanterns, I was really pleased with it.
Also, Alestorm is apparently good essay writing music tonight. It...does not go with my topic however, which is Germanic and Celtic literary imagery in relation to the Franks Casket.
If i'm still in the mood tomorrow, i'll take some music, something to sleep, toothbrush, towel, water and drive as far as the tank brings us into whatever direction. We have to take care of a little tortuga these days as well, so she hopefully will enjoy the trip as well.
This time tomorrow... taking the bus from Zentaroshita to Keio Hachioji, to take the the train to Shinjuku, to take the subway to Asakusa, to drop off my luggage and have lunch and then take the subway to Ueno, to take the Keisei liner to Narita airport to pick up my mom and best friend, to take the speed liner back to Ueno and the subway to Asakusa.
And my family wonders why I don't go into downtown Tokyo that often anymore, despite living IN Tokyo.
Dear Youtube,
When I say I want to watch a playthrough of the first Persona game, I mean the first Persona game, not the million playthroughs of Persona 3 and Persona 4 you have.
Seriously, are there no Playthroughs of the first game? Even the good versions? I was lucky to find one of Persona 2.

Try searching for Persona PSP, there's a playthrough lurking around under that tag if memory serves rightly. It's been a bit since I went looking for a playthrough of it.
When I was a kid, there was a TV show called "Pete McTee's Clubhouse" (one of the many, many clown-based variety shows throughout history) that aired on the local Fox affiliate. I'm not sure how far it reached, but it was definitely a PA thing. It was incredibly popular, and I watched it religiously.
Anyhoo, after a bit of research, it turns out ol' Pete lives right here in Dallastown. It's a tiny area, so my mind was kinda blown.

I...I still have that CD. It's in my Gigantic pile of CDs in my room back in California.
How far do you walk?
I don't know how far, but it took me an hour.

Like Germans who say nice things?
Sometimes I do that sort of thing for fun. I should stay in more.

Sort of, except most of the time people don't quite know what you're saying in Old Norse. Except if you're an Icelander.

Sorry, but it's awesome
