Although this episode once again felt both too short and too easy, I have to say that I found it to be an immense step up from the previous ones. Though easy, the puzzles were a little better, and the storyline was pretty great.
Thank you! Now can someone please post the diolauge between Marty and Jennifer when he tells her he is from a different 1986? (If it was even in the game.)
Not to sound rude but maybe it's best you checked it out yourself. Because it's basically in the beginning of the game, when using the intercom to speak to Jennifer.
Interesting episode. Not the best from a location point, but the dark turn was pretty spot on. You can sort of tell that we're gearing for a final episode because that's just how it goes even if we weren't told how many we were getting.
" But I have a question: We know that the first citizen Brown will disappear after Marty
Finish what he need to do in 1931 (the truth I do not understand what exactly he should do right now there. The only thing I think about is a time machine) and return to 1986 so why is the first citizen Brown interested in Edna ?
After all, he will be replaced by the old doc .
It is sad you had to go through with the thing even after what FCB said. I could not lie to him about Edna. And its possible to make her a happy lonely woman too! I miss old Doc. I miss him terribly! I hope he comes back. I also hope Edna is happy in 1986 as well! It was strange and funny what they expected in 1981! And some or alot of it is sad. And if I were Marty, I would thouroghly explain time travel.
Maybe there is a possibility of "a happy lonely Edna or with someone in the "normal" future . but it mean that we need to do something in the past for it.
There are enough unanswered questions from episode one, that need to be answered , so I think we should wait to the last episode. maybe we might find the answers

I highly doubt he will disappear, just like in FCB's Timeline, Marty remains unchanged even though his family is, the old Doc disappeared because of what was explained here. That theory, of-course would be true if FCB is in the Delorean with Marty once they go back to 1986.
The reason why FCB is interested in Edna is because they've been together since 1931 till 1986 in FCB's timeline, if one spend that long with their bf/gf, I doubt they'd be letting him/her go easily and rather take the advantage of it (making him/her a better person)
I have to post this, because I am extremely upset by what I can foresee as a very possible way telltale will go with "Outtatime." If they choose to have doc forego science completely thereby never even inventing the time machine it will mean that back to the future ONE never even happened as well as every other one following it, if they do that I will NEVER and I mean NEVER forgive telltale! Not even something slightly resembling that theory...just DON'T go there telltale....and this to be concluded is very upsetting, seriously..ending back to the future forever? Continuing all these other series, sam and max, et cetera..and not the best movie series ( these are like movies as well.. ) ever? ...Very frustrated here...
I personally think telltale has done an excellent job, especially because they have taken a franchise which any people love and have their own ideas on what a potential game should be like for it and delivered something cleverly considered plot wise.
I think double visions is well suited to the episode list because the relationship between doc and marty is very real - in many close friendships when one gets a romantic partner it can make the relationship strained between those two friends. Look at Doc and Marty in BTTF Part III when even though it was a minor disagreement, Marty had issues with Doc opting to stay in 1885 for Clara. I guess it is slightly different because Clara is a nice person and Edna appears to be quite cruel to everyone around her.
As for issues with time travel and paradoxes I would assume that the writers of the game have already been prepared for this. As they say, most stories are written backwards so the ending is known first.
I dont know what anyone else thinks but thats just my opinion

I highly doubt they will do something like that. Nor Universal will be ok with a resolution like that one, after all this is a franchise, and in early interviews Bob Gale said, when asked about the possibility to continue the BTTF stories throw the videogames for much longer well... he answered that is a pretty good possibility.
Maybe they will solve the adventure, then when they want to go back to the normal timeline, the Delorian's problems will make it go a year before they want it to, and to when Marty and Doc first tested the time machine in the first movie. Then the whole thing will start again
FCB will use the Delorean to go back and talk sense into his dad, but when he arrives in the time period (due to his lack of knowledge of time travel) he comes out of the rip and runs over a person. That person happens to be father of lorraines dad. Marty is erased from existence and it is up to Doc to decide. SHould he leave the time period knowing that Marty would never be born, and thus he would never exist as FCB (having never gotten to know Edna)? Or will he travel further back and try to unravel a sinister mystery as he has found clues that a Marty from a different time stream is using the Time Machine for his own personal gain.

I can see your point. I think they wrote a clever story but if it somehow removes the whole first 3 movies which are based on the original docs existance (future one) then I would be upset. I guess than means that Marty would obviously life a life where he doesnt own the black toyota and have a sucessful father and also might never meet up with doc.
Bob Gale is an excellent writer and if he is overseeing the storyline I am sure it will be wrapped up nicely in OUTATIME.

You seriously think they would end the series on a down note? Come on, give them some credit, they're smarter than that. Plus, would Bob Gale and DOC BROWN HIMSELF have signed on to something that would disappoint fans? NO. That's why the story has been so solid so far!
Can I guarantee Doc will be back to where he was before, with Clara and the kids? No, I can't. But I'm willing to bet money that Episode 5 will end on a good note, and if it doesn't, that there will be a season 2. They wouldn't want to wreck a classic movie series with one video game.
If Telltale decided to do games for A Series of Unfortunate Events, then I can see the whole thing ending on a less happy note - but Back to the Future is not the type of genre where that would over well with the general fanbase.

The second movie was the best. And at the end of that Doc was dead and Marty was stranded, and Marty barely saved his mom from being forcibly married to Biff and his dad murdered. So the series at large, isn't always "happy".

But... when the second movie came out EVERYBODY knew that there was a third coming out a few months later that will end the trilogy with a happy ending, heck, there is an announcement "to be continued" at the last scene so you won´t even consider that´s an ending. BTTF, as much as I love it, it´s very mainstream hollywood mind driven so no sad endings are in discussion, ever. It has many thrills and its SO well written that you always think things could turn bad, but it never will be... not really.

I actually hated the very ending of BTTF 3 (not the flying train) but the whole super fake cheerful, everything is wonderful now as well as concluded. Thats cheap writing. They should have had a happy ending that had SOME ambiguity, would have been incredible fan service.
Why do so many people seem to be so against happy endings, these days?
I don't think people object to happy endings, it's the speedy wrapping up of everything that has grown tiresome. Unrelated, but it's like the last chapter of
Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. Almost ruined the series for me. It was so saccharine and horribly clumsy
The Deathly Hallows, almost ruined the series for me. It was so saccharine and horribly clumsy
By 'last chapter', are you referring to the epilogue? If so, I couldn't agree more. It literally felt as though I was reading a fanfiction; very disappointing.
Why do so many people seem to be so against happy endings, these days?
There should be happy and ambiguity endings in movies, audience can dig both when its consistent... none of this options in cinema are wrong by a standard or a formula per se. Do you imagine 12 monkeys with a happy "the virus is stopped" ending? do you imagine a Seven film with Brad Pitt holding his wife in the middle of a corn field after he killed the assassin?? certainly not, I love those sad endings full with irony, they are suppose to be bitter or bittersweet. In BTTF happy endings are ok because the genre is most of all a farse with comedy tones, science fiction pulp fantasy with a family audience in mind. The ending of any film is accepted as long as it is consistent with the storyline and the balance of the elements and genre, with happy or sad ending...
In the case of BTTF I bet all my money on happy ending, which by the way I will like. In case Telltale is trying to surprise us with something different... well, we will see if they can pull something like that but not bloody like it.
In a way, there is some ambiguity at the end of Part III. It looks like Doc is about to leave Marty behind, but we don't know where Doc and his headed off to.
Many fanfic writers, including myself, do have Doc and his family moving back to the present - but I also recently did a universe where Doc does stay in the past, and he goes on to have descendants, and they end up being close to Marty.
I wonder if the final episode will tell us about some of the eras that Doc and his family spent time in. I'm thinking that they would have to live outside of Hill Valley - as to lessen the chances of creating a time paradox.
I have mixed feeling with the prospect of a Season Two - but I'm guessing the Episode Five will end similarly to BTTF One and Three, where it leaves the option open for another season.

I know what you mean, but hell I am a sucker for overly happy endings and I kinda liked it. The way I saw it is how inspirational that Doc was so determined to go see Marty again one last time that he actually got a time machine made in about 10 years or so........using just late 19th century technology. It ran on frickin' steam ........though I am very curious how he was able to generate enough power to get it to time jump ahead enough to get a Mr. Fusion. *maybe there was another big lightning storm he already knew about in the late 1800s.* But hey, the music was high pitched and gave you goosebumps while he is giving parting words and having his own family.
About the only BTTF ending I really didn't like was how the first one ended. It would of worked if there was never going to be another movie, but it became so popular they were stuck with having to continue the story from there. So many things wrong with going to the future like that:
1. Marty and Jennifer won't have any kids if they go to 2015 because they both have now been missing for 30 years. It would of been hilarious if thats how things ended up in the beginning of Part II, but that would make Doc look like a major idiot.
2. Doc traveled back in broad daylight and in front of Marty's house. He only brought Jennifer along because she had seen the Delorean. Why couldn't Doc just of gone back two seconds after he went to the future, roll up to Marty while he is walking home and take him along at that time? Better yet, just tell Marty that he needs to get over being called a chicken cuz it messes him up but good.
3. Doc's whole reason to go back to 1985 is to get Marty to help him keep his kids out of jail. But at the end of Part III he makes it clear that the future is what you make of it. So yet again it would of been much easier and less damaging to the timelines if he just went back and talked some sense into Marty and tell him not to let Needles goad him into anything. Thats around the same level as being tipped off to wear a bullet proof vest during the first time test so don't see why Doc had to do it in such a round about way.
In short, BTTF had a great joke ending but a really crappy ending for sequels.

I guess I can see where some people would think it was an ass pull to have Doc create a new time machine, using 19th Century technology. Perhaps, it might have been more realistic to just have Marty meet a descendant of Doc's - and Marty muses over how, even though he will miss his friend, at least his friend was happy in the past. I guess the ending would then be more bittersweet.

Yeah, I think that's the problem a lot of us have. Mike Mahoney, a fanfic writer, came up with the 24-hour ripple effect - and I agree that it would be the best workaround explanation. Still not perfect, though.

Yeah, that also doesn't make sense to me. Also, why was he acting like he was in such a hurry? Perhaps, because he was in broad daylight? Well, okay - but why even travel there, in the first place?

Totally agree with you on that one! That one does bug me, quite a bit. In some of my AUs, where Part II doesn't happen, Doc does end up being a lot more direct with Marty.

Capacitors. You need to release the energy in one burst for time travel, but that doesn't mean he has to gather it all at once either. You could spend several months charging enough capacitors for one jump to a time when you could get a far more efficient power source, then after that you're golden.
(This very thing was shown being done in one of the fanfictions by...Kristen Shelley, I think, where Marty witnessed Doc powering up the Time Train for the first time.)
I think Double Visions is the best Episode so far.
There are however, a few paradoxes in the series that bug me a tiny bit.
Given the theory that; an infinite number of alternate timelines can co-exist.
(Which is what allows the time machine to exist in the past,
even though it was never invented in the future due to the emmits altered past.)
So given this, why does the original doc from the original timeline fade and not the time-machine? I guess i think too much

Original Doc is years more older than FCB, because of the all time travelling. It's most likely given that FCB, without interruptions from other timelines, has to be dead in which age Original Doc is still alive and healthy.
Why do so many people seem to be so against happy endings, these days?
Well personally I like happy endings.
Though I actually found the ending of BttF3 more weird first.
You would think that after years of building the time train he would at least go sit down and have a talk with Marty before he leaves again?
Anyway it got me thinking after I saw it a few times... Doc went to the future first.
Maybe he bumped into Marty and he was a depressed mess and broke up with Jennifer or something.
So he went back to 1985 cheered up Marty but left again so they can go to the lake.
Otherwise I dont see how the ending makes much sense.
...and why do people seem to like cliffhangers or a standard open ending at the end of a series?
Sometimes its good to have a bad ending. Nothing works out. Protagonist fails, tragically. More to learn from those kinds of narratives. Also what you just mentioned is more interesting than just a happy ending. I'm afraid for when they start doing "happy cliffhangers" where the audience is waiting to see just how much happier the series is going to get. bleh.
Though I actually found the ending of BttF3 more weird first.

I agree. I think he should have done that much.
In response to a few others, I've had enough sadness to deal with in my personal life - so, whenever I read or watch something, I want to get away from all that. If I want to feel depressed, I could just turn on the news. It's not to say to say that I don't like any sadness in what I watch or read - but I prefer for things to turn out fine, at the end.
Just a minor detail, but I got a chuckle out of it:
Anyone else noticed FCB finished repairing the Delorean on November 5th, 1986, the same day he got the idea for the Flux capicator 31 years ago in the Original Timeline?
I have noticed it, in fact. It is an interesting idea.
They should have put a scene in Episode 3 where Marty attacks FCB with a toilet seat, hitting him over the head. Would have made for big lawls and massive fan service.
Honestly, I'm not sure if this the best one but it's definitely up there. Although I'm one of those people who kinda watch it as a movie and get frustrated when the puzzles get to hard. Luckily they weren't to hard (although I did get really frustrated when I couldn't find the slide switch for the mental alignment meter because it was really small) The gameplay was good and I was kinda glad to be able to explore somewhere new as the 1931 town square was getting a little boring.
The thing I liked the most about this episode was the friction between FCB and Marty. I thought this was a great idea for the story and I loved the fact that Telltale games was able to take their relationship to a new level.
One thing I would say is that the climactic scene wasn't exactly climatic enough and when it ended i was like 'Oh. Is that the end?' I thought we were at least going to build Emmetts new rocket car, but thats just in my opinion.

Sometimes its good to have a bad ending. Nothing works out. Protagonist fails, tragically. More to learn from those kinds of narratives. Also what you just mentioned is more interesting than just a happy ending. I'm afraid for when they start doing "happy cliffhangers" where the audience is waiting to see just how much happier the series is going to get. bleh.
Anyone else noticed FCB finished repairing the Delorean on November 5th, 1986, the same day he got the idea for the Flux capicator 31 years ago in the Original Timeline?
Hardly a coincidence.
They should have put a scene in Episode 3 where Marty attacks FCB with a toilet seat, hitting him over the head. Would have made for big lawls and massive fan service.
