For those of you saying that people who claim this is a glitch are morons and need to stop making idiotic decisions and that they are whiners....knock it off please. It's not nice.
Having said that, I'm sorry but it's indeed a small glitch in the game. For some reason the walking option gets a tad stuck when she's raising the gun, causing Lee to keep walking for a fraction of a second if you had been holding it down before that. It could be that it has a small delay too, haven't been able to tell. Hence why you get shot quite often.
The solution to this is to just tap the forward button/key in very short bouts. With some patience you can solve it this way.
It causes the walking animation to get a little dorky and it looks off and weird but it really is the best solution.
If any of you are still experiencing this, are you playing with Standard or Minimal UI enabled? Are you playing with a gamepad, or using keyboard/mouse?
Our QA department is definitely looking into this issue, but we have not been able to reproduce it. If any of you have a video of it happening that you could post, it would be helpful.
No ones going to have of it because it's not a glitch.

I was playing standard with keyboard/mouse. I have already got past it so won´t be able to record, but my choice was killing the guy in the barn and pretending to be him. Also I was moving forward with "w" key.

A few simple words "already tried that" and like I said just becuz u don't experience the dame problems doesn't mean it'd not there for others. So please save your comments because they don't help anyone
I passed since first try and attempt to react as i would do in real life, i never threathned her and only walk closer until she warn me, so when se open the mounth i full stop and try to calm her again, and so walk close again(and she start to fall back a little) repeat and continue
considering the fact that i warned her of my approach i cant see worst case scenario to her shot me and still i been suceded
Maybe some of you just only going to fast?

I did the same thing but on PS3. Killed Danny, pretended to be him. Stuck in a loop at the screen door. I will try and use a REWIND and see if I can recreate it on video. Also, I would just tap the stick fwd and release it right away and still get shot. On my rewind playthrough I dont need to tap it. There are no sensitivity issues. I hold the stick hard until she points the gun, release, repeat.

I'm still having this problem on the PC version of the game. I've tried using both my 360 controller AND the keyboard controls, and have had no luck with either. I'm going to try to get it on video soon - and I'll post it here when I do (if I can capture it right).
My cousin beat it and it was her 2nd time picking up a Xbox controller. She didn't even die once.
It's not the game it's you. If she shoots you right when she points the gun at you it means you didn't stop fast enough.
No it's not him. The game is badly glitched at this point. No interaction icon appears, no matter how fast or patient you are.Thousands of players are having the same problem, just google it. Oh and check things before you write replies.
Ok, this is silly. There doesn't need to be users insulting other users about this. I had this SAME ISSUE my first playthrough, and got really frustrated with it,tried it a dozen or so times. So I get it, i really do.
That being said it is with out a doubt 100% operator error, and NOT a glitch.
It does NOT matter what choices you make up to that point. None of that matters.
It's very very simple, when she says STOP and points the gun at you. Stop, don't jerk backwards ( which is what I did with out realizing it). Just stay still, it DOES take a few secondsfor the option to pop up, but it will show up.regardless of what you choose prior.
So please ,stop crying glitch when there is no glitch. You probably like me didn't realize you were nudging him back or something. Relax and enjoy the rest of the game
Sorry mate but you're wrong. Maybe on pc you're right but on xbox i've done it like 50 times and not moved an inch sometimes taking about a minute to get to her, but the game locks you in and she shoots. It's a glitch pure and simple. Gonna try the rewind thing and see if that helps

Try swapping controllers (I posted about why this may work in another thread).
I borrowed some controllers from work and was able to successfully pass the Brenda-Scene on my Xbox at home.
Then I swapped back my old controllers and sure enough I failed the scene when I was doing the exact same thing with the controllers from work.
I think it's ludicrous that we have to produce video evidence of this happening. It's also ludicrous that in the mean time the moderators allow trolls to crap all over these threads where we're trying to communicate that it is a serious problem affecting the game.

If using different controllers got you past it, doesn't that prove that this is an issue with your controllers, not a bug in the game? Unless the bug you were referring to is having Brenda shoot you for moving the stick AT ALL when most people have worn-out controllers that wiggle when stationary....which isn't a bug.
It isn't "ludicrous" to have to make a recording to report the problem. TTG Chimed in here and said they're trying to look into it but can't recreate the problem (I personally wouldnt waste time in this thread if I were them, would be worried about the ACTUAL bugs like the one affecting mac users). Obviously if they can't see the problem they can't fix it. It's not like recordings are hard to produce. I made one of me passing the scene and it took like 10 minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFLX5KM3HhM
Also, I tried all the selection combinations leading up to this scene trying to recreate it and always passed it. so, if there is a bug (huge emphasis on if) it must not affect the PC version (the steam version anyway) because I can NOT get it to happen. Later on I might dig up my beat up M$ xbox 360 controller from 2004 to see if that does it.

You do realize that in my other thread I do assert that there is an overt problem with the code itself. I assert that the game players have no way to know that their controllers are at fault.
If you play Call of Duty and your left thumbstick is messed up, then your aim moves by itself when you're stationary. You have some feedback mechanism to tell you that something is amiss. On top of this, the game is still playable with the problematic thumbstick.
Contrast that with the Brenda Scene. Users have no way to get feedback that they've encountered a scenario that is impossible to pass if your controller is slightly wonky.
And it's pretty obvious this affects a huge number of players because TTG introduced a very odd gameplay mechanic that I have not come across in any other video game on the Xbox360. There is no game I can think of where the effects are game-halting punitive if your left thumbstick is not absolutely stationary.
Edit... you're a lucky SOB since you were able to pass that scene using your your controller doing what you show in the video. Because I'll swear under oath of penalty of death that I did the same thing and was shot by Brenda about 2 dozen times. Letting go of the thumbstick = shot in the face. And now I have to put up with non-empathetic trolls telling me to eff off. Thanks.

A funny note in my game is, that when i tried to convince Brenda that i would be her son, it gliched. Everytime then when i tried to stop approaching her lee keep moving forward.
But when i just let Lee say that it's him, not Danny, then everything works fine. I can stop approaching her etc.

Same as in my game. Exactly. I killed Danny, did you?
I finally got past this after about 30 attempts. I'm playing on Xbox 360.
What worked for me was to rewind. I didn't kill Danny, and I identified myself as Lee by asking about Katjaa and Duck. I don't think these choices affect anything, but just in case you want to try everything I did, there it is. I don't think Tell-Tale-Games would mess something up like that.
Basically the glitch for me was that Mark at the top of the stairs didn't load. I'm fairly certain he's visible as soon as you open the screen door. If you don't see him, you're going to get shot. It's not red light/green light where you move when Brenda is looking at Katjaa That's a load of crap, basically. It's either bugged or it's not, and Mark not being present is a prime indication.
I did end up switching controllers. I'm not sure that the problem is the controller not resetting to null, but it couldn't hurt to try. When I clicked it forward, what I did was tap the stick up, but not the whole way, basically just enough to get Lee to edge forward - basically halfway to the top. Trying to quickly flicker the control stick the entire way just got me killed.
I think the problem is improperly stored variables, not the null stick position. Basically someone programmed too late into the night, and their testers just happened to get through it by luck of the draw so it slipped through.
I severely doubt that this is actually a test of skill - to have a situation this sensitive is far, far beyond the spectrum of the game's difficulty, and out of the scope of the rest of the first two chapters. This isn't a skill game, and shouldn't be one. Honestly, I would prefer if it was a skill/timing based game, but mostly it's just guiding an awkward cursor onto light up beacons. If this is just programmed to be 'difficult,' it was a major oversight, and should be patched down to the rest of the game.
Think about it: Why would they have a difficult stop/go game for the penultimate encounter with zero instructions, and then for the final scene they give you specific instructions on how to punch. There's no way that it's rigged to be this difficult.
They may be delaying patching this simply because they are in a rush to get future episodes out. This bugs seems sort of common, but if it happens to 1/1000 gamers, financially it's not worth spending time on to build a patch for.
Personally, I'm not going to buy the next episode for at least a few weeks to make sure that there isn't a problem like this. I love Walking Dead, but not enough to sit through this kind of frustration again.

It IS a red light/green light event
Mark is not visible at the top of the stairs until Brenda backs up the second time.
A couple posts up I have youtube recordings of myself passing the scene with both keyboard and xbox thumbstick.
I don't think it's even a problem with the controllers, because my xbox controller SUCKS, I got it on launch day, and it's seen 8 years of Halo. The thumbsticks are not perfect, they have quite a bit of play when not being touched, yet I managed to play this scene and vigorously shake the controller with brenda pointing the gun at me, and I still didn't get shot.
This is either a completely random glitch (which I still REALLY want to see a recording of) or just a case of people not knowing how to pass this scene. This is literally the only "do it right or die" point in twd (other than the qte fights)
I created a forum account just to come here and say the glitch is happening to me too. Whether I use a 360 controller or mouse, I have no dialogue options. I've tried everything. I've changed the UI modes, graphic settings, sound, everything. I looked up youtube videos to make sure I was doing it right, and no luck.
Uninstalling now, good job on the first chapter, got my money's worth for that at least
Wrong. In the scenario I was in I can press nothing at all and still get shot. I know how this scene works as I have been through it close to 30 times.
f*ed if i care if it fixed it for you or not. worked for me.
Read through all of this thread, and there are some extremely unhelpful people around aren't there. Registered just to add my name to the list of people banging their head on the desk repeatedly. I've tried this around 30 or so times and it just won't do it. Whether glitch is the right word, not sure. I can get to the first conversation after the door, then move forward and *sometimes* do the 2nd one, but after that, there's just no way of knowing if that next step will kill you or save you.
The problem is that the animation is on rails, as opposed to free in other parts of the game. When you enter the house, if you hold down forward continuously Lees shoulder moves up and down 3 times, indicating 3 steps towards Brenda. If you do it the only workable way, i.e. bit by bit, if this animation is even slightly in the wrong place, he steps forward the animation continues - which you can see if you look at the doorway/light to the right (getting sick of seeing those now..) it keeps moving about 3 pixels (I suppose for the animation to find a resting spot) and she shoots. If the animation hasn't completed its step up or down, then he carries on. It's more a case that it was the wrong way to implement it in the game - it would have been better if it didn't require you to stop dead at the right point in a way that is really open to failure, when you can't see what your feet are doing.
I'll happily video this if, you know, six pages of people with exactly the same issue isn't proof enough. Would be great if there was a way of patching it as this series is one of the best adventure games I've played in an extremely long time. The emotive side, story, characters, choices, everything is just spot on and I cant fault it. Until I try to walk forwards in a house...
tubaros have you ever paid attention to brenda and NOT lee ?
are you using a controller ?
yes video it then we know
but ultimately when brenda says stop you HAVE to stop and when the dialogue comes up always pick the top one.. and don't move till she points the gun at katjaa..
it really is fking simple IF your not using a worn out xbox pad...
Not sure if this still matters to anyone anymore, but I found that Brenda stares at Lee for a while, then glances down at Katjaa. I've done it at least twice, and if you only move forward when she is looking at Katjaa (timing it correctly with speech), you can beat it.

Hi yes, I honestly have tried everything-Ive watched when she looks down, ive stopped in a complete mix - Ive even done it so much Ive tried when her expression changes, lol
are you using a controller ?
No, PC, so keyboard and mouse, which is where I think the issue stems
yes video it then we know
I'll capture it on Wegame later or tomorrow
but ultimately when brenda says stop you HAVE to stop and when the dialogue comes up always pick the top one.. and don't move till she points the gun at katjaa..
all the above already tried :-(
it really is fking simple IF your not using a worn out xbox pad...
I know it is, and that's what's so frustrating for me and other gamers that are also experiencing it - not everyone on this thread but enough for it to be a valid gripe. Honestly, I see how simple it is - just move forward, read the queues from Brenda and make sure you don't overstep a point, but the engine kicks in and makes Lee do another few frames of animation, if you haven't stopped at the right cycle and thats it, game over :-(
More frustrating than anything is its a game that has offered such an excellent experience. I'd hate to go into episode 3 having missed any choices or important story threads
no worries - didnt think u were being harsh :-), thanks for the advice
wegames client download is down at the moment so i cant record but ill try when i can with an alternative. sods law itll work first time and itll be a video of me completing it, lol
at 0.27, if you see when this person stops, for about 2/3 frames it ever so slightly continues and its that which is the issue. im going to try one last thing, dropping all res and detail down to minimum, in case its just a rendering issue - my pc is fine, but i just wonder if its that..
soz about the double posts - I didnt have my login and was remoting in on my ipad to my pc that was logged in , didnt think about edit post. This is all very strange, so Ill just keep trying, groundhog day style!!
Hopefully this helps; if not, I'm just adding to the chaos.
I play the PS3 version, killed both brothers, and told her I was Danny when entering. She capped me dead the first time.
The second time, I simply eased in there (starting back up after I'd made my announcement speech)-- hovering the cursor on both characters and opting to "talk" to whichever one would let me. As I noticed her take a step backwards my son noticed a walker at the top of the stairs. I repeated the "ease forward/talk" method until this crazy woman became dinner for a zombie.
Best advice: use that "talk" feature during this sequence and don't make hasty moves forward.
guys!
i find the way
if you moving the mouse after she told you to stop, she will shot you! every time she begin talking, dont touch the mouse and keyboard
guys!
i find the way
if you moving the mouse after she told you to stop, she will shot you! every time she begin talking, dont touch the mouse and keyboard
did you watch my vid? i am clearly moving the mouse while she points the gun at me....so you is wrong. your welcome
I've never had a problem with her shooting me. If you move the mouse or on PS3 the reticle over her you have the option to talk to her. Once you speak to her she will back up the steps and warn you that she's going to shoot. Don't walk forward and talk to her again. Do that like three times and she gets munched on by the legless walker.
I did experience the exact same glitch on Xbox360 after
- having killed Billy
- having identified as Lee
All went fine for the first two "don't move"+"question" sequences, but at the third time she shot me anyway. So I knew exactly how to do it, but for a dozen times I failed.
Solved with the youtube video hint: when she points the gun at me the third time, I immediately paused the game, then resumed, and I got the hotspot for the third and final dialogue.
Alright, so after reading through all of the arrogant posts about this obvious GLITCH being user based and telling us that we need to stop, I thought i'd make an account to post.
I am playing on the PC and I too have encountered this exact same glitch, I choose to kill Danny and when going towards the house I told Brenda I left him in the barn. Once going through the door I started TAPPING the W key ever so slightly for TEN MINUTES and got to the point where Brenda points the gun towards me and yells "Stop"... I STOPPED DEAD, I DID NOT PRESS ANY OTHER KEY, and no dialogue popped up, I was NOT able to interact with Brenda in any way, including where the interaction option should be (her stomach) a there was not even a pause when I stopped to search for the interaction hotspot, I even turned on the help "buttons" that shows you the hotspots but none showed up. Just after a split second of stopping she immediately shoots me.
For those that have not experienced the obvious glitch and think it is due to the player, please wind your fucking neck in. We are more than capable of knowing what the word STOP means, we are NOT stupid, you are just ignorant due to the game working fine for you. I have beaten this episode before, along with the episode 3, but due to getting a new upgrade for my computer I had to start all over again and still encountered this glitch.
I got past this glitch by choosing NOT to kill Danny in the barn and choose to say directly that it was me coming up to the door and was able to get past this situation without any issue.
So in conclusion I feel that when you kill Danny and say you have either left him in the barn or pretend to be him, it glitches out on that part.
Comments
Having said that, I'm sorry but it's indeed a small glitch in the game. For some reason the walking option gets a tad stuck when she's raising the gun, causing Lee to keep walking for a fraction of a second if you had been holding it down before that. It could be that it has a small delay too, haven't been able to tell. Hence why you get shot quite often.
The solution to this is to just tap the forward button/key in very short bouts. With some patience you can solve it this way.
It causes the walking animation to get a little dorky and it looks off and weird but it really is the best solution.

Uninstalling now, good job on the first chapter, got my money's worth for that at least
f*ed if i care if it fixed it for you or not. worked for me.
Until I try to walk forwards in a house...
are you using a controller ?
yes video it then we know
but ultimately when brenda says stop you HAVE to stop and when the dialogue comes up always pick the top one.. and don't move till she points the gun at katjaa..
it really is fking simple IF your not using a worn out xbox pad...
it's all to do with brenda's gun...
I'd hate to go into episode 3 having missed any choices or important story threads
i use a mirco soft /razer keyboard
and lee never moves with out my pressing the w and thats with varying pressure and timing.. i'll try the arrow keys.
maybe try and turn you brightness up so you can see brenda if i could figure out how to get a brief vid up i'll do one.

at 0.27, if you see when this person stops, for about 2/3 frames it ever so slightly continues and its that which is the issue. im going to try one last thing, dropping all res and detail down to minimum, in case its just a rendering issue - my pc is fine, but i just wonder if its that..
yeah i see what you mean it's does look like a glitch
it's like the game knows you ain't moving but the animation has to complete and the game is detecting movement instead of control so you die..
if you look at my vid i move incrementally so i'm on the edge of progressing the scene..
Looks very smooth on your pc, btw
and fucked if i know why the sound from the game doesn't work, will try another prog and see what happens.
also i can up the quality but of course that makes the file bigger
how do i sound ? lol
Best advice: use that "talk" feature during this sequence and don't make hasty moves forward.
i find the way
if you moving the mouse after she told you to stop, she will shot you! every time she begin talking, dont touch the mouse and keyboard
did you watch my vid? i am clearly moving the mouse while she points the gun at me....so you is wrong. your welcome
Like Save Doug
- having killed Billy
- having identified as Lee
All went fine for the first two "don't move"+"question" sequences, but at the third time she shot me anyway. So I knew exactly how to do it, but for a dozen times I failed.
Solved with the youtube video hint: when she points the gun at me the third time, I immediately paused the game, then resumed, and I got the hotspot for the third and final dialogue.
fixed :P
I've just played this scene, her 'Talk' option isn't on her forehead, it's around the stomach area.
