    Semantics.
Not that I disagree, but oh well. In any case, I mostly agreeing with you anyway. Don't be so hostile, mate. I'm not the enemy here. :P

It could a client side issue, but one TTG has caused.

Let's make this simple. I am the client. My internet works fine. Are you suggesting TTG came into my house and built some sort of anti-WalkingDead downloader and attached it to my computer?

    Prolly not.

Therefore, It is not a client side problem.

Guess where I get stuck? 0.00% That's right, not even 0%, but 0.00%.

The hilarity is not lost on me.

Its quiet possible its a server problem, so if I were you i'd continue to try and try and try until it works, but thats me. i really want to help but I have it through steam so I can't even try to recreate it and troubleshoot it :(

Or try that fix posted in the above, that would probably fix it too.

Thanks, I'll try that. And if this works, I'll let everyone know.

I wouldn't try that workaround. (except that I did)

It showed episode 4 as installed but froze when loading it up. Upon restarting, the game was windowed and I had to type in a username and password just to be stuck on the logo screen. So I uninstalled the game, reinstalled the game, but now instead of needing to download just one episode I need to re-download them all.

That outside downloader is not a solution. All the downloads are for the episodes that I already have; I need episode 4. Nothing is working.

To quote Kenny "FUCK FUCK FUUUUUUCCK!!!"
  • edited October 2012
Yeah same thing here - please fix.
  • edited October 2012
Yeah that didn't work at all. It said it was installed, then I had to reboot my computer because of windows update, and now it tells me I need to download it again except I can't cause I still have that error message.
    Annoying !

I'm experiencing similar problems. As a pre-order customer who purchased before the release of the first episode I also have the Steam version. I've tried to download the episode via the Telltale client and get the "connection lost" error, and when I try to start ep. 4 via Steam I get a black screen. I've attempted restarting from the last checkpoint on ep. 3 (was able to play without issue for ep. 3) which didn't solve anything. Still getting a permanent black screen for ep. 4 via Steam.

Hoping for a solution soon and I'm looking forward to playing ep. 4. As a fan of the comics and Telltale, I really enjoy this game but I'm perplexed with the number of problems that we've come across with each episode release.

Just tried to play ep. 4 and getting the "check connection" error. Anyone figured out how to fix yet?
I actually started believing maybe they had sorted themselves out but now i see i was just getting my hopes up. Idiots make us wait longer for a game that now we can't play, never buying from TTG again.
  • edited October 2012
    Haha, episode 4??
    I can't even download episode 3 yet...

I have the same connection problems. I tried about every solution I could think off. Restarting the game, restarting my computer, shutting my computer off and resetting the modem and router. Looked at my firewall to make sure everything went through.

So yeah it is on the telltale side of things and not on the user side. "Luckily" it's outside office hours so we probably have to wait for a number of hours before someone comes in to have a look at it.

As said in this topic and as I said in a different topic: next TTG purchase will be through steam. At least then I will have reliable downloads and maybe then the episodes will actually download to my HDD that all my games are on (including the first episode) instead of it forcing its way on my C drive which doesn't have a lot of space.

Seems like the whole world is trying to download episode 4 at the samen time. I'm in Europe, so I thought downloading it during North America nighttime should do the trick. Unfortunately not.

I don't understand why TTG stept away from downloading episodes for episode like the other games. At least that worked.

    All fucking day long...

and quit giving me some bullshit error message about my internet connection. It should read like this "Sorry, we don't have the bandwidth to handle our customers download requests, try again later."

you can point your fucking finger up your ass

hehe love your quote man ;) at first I was having the license problem(knowing this is usual) with the coming soon status and then it kinda worked getting into the main menu to see a get status but connection problem like you all :S
  • edited October 2012
I have the same problem. It give me the same error message about the internet.
  • edited October 2012
apparently there is a huge issue with this regge
  • edited October 2012
Yea i can see that but i hope it will be fixed if not today maybe tomorrow.
  • edited October 2012
so, i waited patiently for 2 days and 10 hours, and still the same results, at first the episode shows " coming soon" now it shows "get" and when i click on "get" it says " connection failed and try again " -_- my internet is FINE, ive downloaded 3 of the episodes with EASE. im using Ethernet so it is far beyond fine. would someone kindly tell when telltale will take responsibly for this and fix it?

oh, and i downloaded the game from their website, and not steam... im now regretting it while everyone has already beaten the episode, im still waiting to download it. this was my FIRST time buying any telltale game, and this will be my LAST.

for future advice telltale, make sure your game is available for everyone before releasing it -_-. i hope you know that i am not the only one who feels this way. :)

I have the exact same thing with the internet connection problem and I also am using ethernet wiring and still can't download. come on 8am california hour so they get to it
  • edited October 2012
Same problem for me. As soon as I press "get" it immediately tells me that it has lost the internet connection. Never had this problem with any other episodes. I really wish TT would at least tell us that they are working on it or...something...anything as this is extremely frustrating.

id just wish telltale games would tell everyone that if they were to download the game from their website, they were going to get shitting service, and delayed episodes. i would have bought it through steam if i knew that before hand ...

This is what you get for supporting a small development company. No service, bugs, non-playable games and NO REACTION whatsoever. I want my money back.
  • edited October 2012
-_- this is what we all see
  • edited October 2012
Same here "check internet connection", the fun thing is that the game is available in piracy sites, i guess pirates make better clients than paying ones. Will think very hard before purshasing anything else from Telltale
  • edited October 2012
I too have finally upgraded from "Coming Soon" to "Check Internet Connection."

    Pretty frustrating.
  • edited October 2012
Was getting this check your connection message when I left home earlier today, assuming it would work by the time I returned hours later... nope still getting this frustrating message. :/

Must say I doubt I will buy directly from TT again (especially with that silly in-game downloader) , maybe through steam...
  • edited October 2012
Yeeep not working for me either, "Check Internet Connection." :(
Bought it via Tell tale as for me it was cheaper than steam as im in the UK... Kinda wish I did buy it though steam now.

O well, maybe if it isnt fixed by tomorrow they will start to give out steam keys?
  • edited October 2012
I bought the game today and got the same problem when I was trying to download Episode 2. And 3. And of course 4. Hope this will get fixed soon.
  • edited October 2012
Same problem here. The download actually got to 10% yesterday, but now it either fails instantly or after a few minutes.
  • edited October 2012
I think what really rubs salt in the wound is that while I try downloading again every so often, the advertising ticker at the top keeps telling me to download episode 4 from the Playstation network -_-
  • edited October 2012
I could at least tolerate this if not for the fact that Telltale never says anything at all and just ignores their customers as they fix it at their own pace. Give some kind of update it's insulting not to.
  • edited October 2012
You know what guys ? I've read a post saying that Telltale has responded to somebody's question about the connection error and you know what they told her ? To check her connection to the internet to see if it's working fine. WTF TTG ? Instead of admitting the mistake they put the blame on somebody else's
  • edited October 2012
This just gets more frustrating. Over 24 hours trying to download, no progress, no word on what's going on as far as when this will be fixed, just repeated tries of clicking the get button in case a miracle happens. Not how I planned to spend the day. :(
  • edited October 2012
I found that the workaround from page 3 is good - i had episode 4 installed and could play. Now I'm receiving the weird "you don't own this game - wanna buy it?" message again i had already encountered yesterday. This is most ridiculous! It should probably say: you wanna play this game? steal it! I could be happily play for days now, Telltale! Be sure this was my last purchase and yes, keep ignoring me - your sincerely, a CUSTOMER

I found a solution: playing something else (like Deponia).

i got through that problem and now it is telling me that my account doesnt have the license to download the game even though i bought and paid for the whole season in advance.... sad to say that i am not surprised and i dont really expect telltale to even respond to us at this point :(

I am also getting the lack of license error message sometimes, but that's right as I load the game. When I can get through that, I then get the error that everyone else is getting, except that I just bought the whole package yesterday and it won't let me load any episode 2-4
