The more people post, the more we see just how " small" our group with download problems is. I don't know if more complaints = working harder to fix a problem, but it should stop the "check you internet" advice from Telltale. If anyone hears any more from them, that is. Day 3 now, hopefully we'll have a fix soon!
I'm more than a little annoyed myself, I don't give a damn about waiting if there is an announcement, but this is simply bad service, I regret wanting to support Telltale by not buying it through steam
I couldn't agree with you more. I understand that things like this can happen, but the fact that there is nothing but silence or, at best, a "please check your internet connection" is what really bothers me as well. It's downright insulting. If they would just come out and say 'yes, there is a problem and we are working to fix it' then I wouldn't be so annoyed by this.
Add me to the list of users getting might annoyed at this. Been trying to download the game for the last three nights. Telltale should be ashamed at their silence.
Hey I keep trying to download episode 4 and it says to check my internet connection and that the connection was lost. My internet is just fine. What's going on? I WANT TO PLAY THIS EPISODE!!
I also have the same connection lost problem. I do understand that it is a complicated release, but when I (like many of you) sit down and expect to be able to play the game and it doesn't work it ruins the evening. One should be able to trust a release date. Can someone from the Tell Tale Team please confirm that you have recieved information about this problem. I sent you an e mail yesterday but have no reply.

It's not just episode 4. I can't download 2 or 3 either, same error message. Basically it seems like their download system is effed up right now.
I already knew nothing was wrong with my network but I decided to humour TT anyway. So I tried a multitude of VPNs, using the internet at a friends house, even tried using 3G... nothing, nada, naught, zero, zilch, zip.
Please, for the love of all that is good: Never EVER use this in-game downloader again! There was nothing wrong with individual .exe files; they are more convenient, you can download them without being forced to stay in game, you can install them where you like (I don't want to install new episodes on my main drive! I have a games drive for a reason), if your server has issues people can share the installer (by all means, still have in game login or one time online activation to stop "casual" piracy) and piracy will still occur whatever you do (in fact it was pirated hours after release - those pirates are rather more reliable....).
Well I posted about it on the Facebook page. Others have to. It would have been great to get a response from the TTG team. If nothing else, just confirming they are listening. Since I don't know if they are going to try and fix the problem I don't know if I should try to do something on my side, with my computer, but what?
After downloading these 9 files place them in %userprofile%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\SyncFs\Data\WalkingDead104
Then afterwards go to %userprofile%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\SyncFs\Temp and delete that temp file inside.
Then enter the game and go to download content. You'll see "GET" and as soon as you click on it, it would be marked as installed. Go back to the main menu and it should allow you to play
Yeah this doesn't work for me either. I downloaded the files (from the other thread since those links are busted) and it installed all well and good, even allowed me to launch the game. But the graphics were all fucked and after I closed the game and launched it again it was back to not being installed and once again I "lost my connection to the internet".
As a full-time lurker here I recall the times when big errors such as this would evoke at least SOME thread response from somebody within the company.
It was this "close to the fans" attitude that attracted me to Telltale in the first place (Well, the fact they had the Sam and Max license didn't hurt!).
What's happened to Telltale? I am very disappointed.
Perhaps we should continue posting on Facebook. I don't know. One thing that bugs me is that my gameplay is ruined now. There are spoilers just about everywhere. I don't know why people must feel a need to tell everyone what happens in the game. In trying to find an answer to the download problem I keep stumbling on these spoilers. Damn.
If it's any use I managed to get it to work using the work around, however after I'd copied the files in to the walkingdead104 folder I right clicked on the folder and made sure to untick "readonly", then applied it to the contents. Prior to doing this, it didn't work, after doing this (and deleting the temp folder) it did.
Could just have been luck but I managed to boot up and play without any weird graphical corruption. If you're getting graphical corruption try redownloading the files again.
I just received response from Telltale about this downloading issue..they state they are working on solution and when sending emails about this problem to reference "issue 64096"
Same here, all fine with Episode 1-3, now I cant download anything of episode 4... come on tellgate, you wanted this stupid idea with logging in and downloading each episode, so fix it

Well that's finally a bit of good news. Shot them an email as well but hopefully this will lead to the solution we are all hoping for.

If you tried downloading the sites I gave you that wouldn't help since those are just copied and so by copying only the text got copied and not the exact file.
Here's the correct way of doing this:
First of all make a back up of the entire folder in the Mydocuments/Telltale Games..........just in case something goes wrong
Then scroll down and find the title marked as Manual Download.
Download the files according to the episode you want to download.
After downloading the files place them in their location, specified in the description.
Just had a thought... do TellTale work weekends? If they don't get it fixed today we may have to wait till Monday (or longer)
I read a post by one of the mods during the release of episode 3. I don't remember if Telltale works 8 to 5 or 9 to 6, but I'm pretty certain he said they don't work weekends. So we have either 1 hour and 15 minutes, or 2 hours and 15 minutes for this to work, or we are out of luck for the weekend I'm afraid.
And so I begin day 3 attempting to download this. Nada. Yesterday I got it to 30% but then it cut out and now its back to 10% and cutting out.
Sent my own little email to TTG, not that I think it'll do anything. I'm in Australia, its already Saturday here. I was supposed to be knee-deep in this game avoiding everyone and everything else in my life.
I got an automated reply so far. It says to include issue-64201 in the email, but I did that in my original. Maybe we should just flood them with emails that say issue-64201 over and over.
Hi,
This is just an automated note to let you know that we've received your request for support and that we'll be getting back to you as quickly as possible.
For your reference, this case has been assigned the code 'issue-64201'. Please make sure to include this code in either the subject or the body of any e-mail you send to us regarding this issue.
AND you can add me as well to the ever growing consensus that TellTale sucks major ass at this point & obviously cares nothing of its customers/former fan base, its one thing if it was truly the customers PC's that was the issue but it is quite clear that its a problem on TT's end but alas they have failed to provide respectable customer service to those hardworking Americans who have not only supported their company & its endeavors but dished out the money FIRST before receiving the total product which in turn is a slap in the face in regards to TRUST! See we trusted TT by paying for a full product upfront while being promised that we would then receive the product on time in 5 split monthly dividends, all the while being screwed in the a$$ when it finally came down to it; TellTale you OWE us loyal paying customers some sort of response to this PROBLEM! We demand an explanation and/or public response on what your doing to resolve this issue! So give us some sort of response NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, so that email I received with an "issue number" was a automated response and is different from the one that littleton pace received.
Im trying to say that I guess they are looking at it as individual customer problem it seems. I hope they realize it is a lot of customers.
Im saying I hope because no one has heard an official response or gotten any help.
I am so frustrated just like everyone
WHAT DO WE DO TO GET THEIR HELP?
I wouldnt be asking if I knew they were helping..or knew
*Im emailing them again..maybe we should all send email to let them know? Support@Telltalegames.com
Damn, this silence from TTG isn't good. I visited their facebook page to see if they had posted any solution there. And of course a couple of spoilers stared me in the face. Even when I get this game working it will not be the same enjoyment as it could have been. Things can go wrong but TTG:s way of not adressing us regarding this is a mistake. There has been a lot of negative responce in having to wait for episodes, but I have been patient.
Now, I'm actually really disapointed in how TTG has handled this. Really disapointed. It is a shame because TTG do make so good games.
So I tried again this morning, but no luck. I probably will have to try some of the workarounds that are posted. But it worries me a bit changing the directories in the game manually. I really did not expect having to do this.

Exactly! Telltale doesn't make mistakes.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
How?
