If you tried downloading the sites I gave you that wouldn't help since those are just copied and so by copying only the text got copied and not the exact file.

Here's the correct way of doing this:

First of all make a back up of the entire folder in the Mydocuments/Telltale Games..........just in case something goes wrong

After you backed them up go here

Then scroll down and find the title marked as Manual Download.
Download the files according to the episode you want to download.

After downloading the files place them in their location, specified in the description.

Then afterwards go to %userprofile%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\SyncFs\Temp and delete that temp file inside.

Then enter the game and go to download content. You'll see "GET" and as soon as you click on it, it would be marked as installed. Go back to the main menu and it should allow you to play

Pretty sure that's exactly how I did it but since I still can't download episode 4 I think I'll give this another shot just to be sure.

The workarounds delete your progress and do a lot of mess with your savegames. Be warned about it.

TTG's site went down over here a hour ago. During that time I was able to connect and download episode 4. YEAH! Seems it's a bandwidth problem at TTG. That should be easy enough to fix...

    *off playing ep.4 now*

Something is definitely going on, not sure what. But twice in a row I got my download started (went back to cutting out and starting at 10% again), and now there's a longer period between when I click GET and the stupid connection window coming up. Originally it was a 5 second wait, then 10 seconds, now its 20 seconds. I count because I play Angry Birds while im waiting for it to download. Anyway, dunno if the longer times means anything, I like to think that maybe it means someones in there trying to sort it out.

It's still cutting out and not expanding more on the 10% tho. :S:S

not sure what happened but now it's asking me to re-download episodes 2-4... even though they're all installed and downloaded up to episode 4 included... same thing again - problem with my internet connection apparently... they really have some messed up web services ....

So I tried again this morning, but no luck. I probably will have to try some of the workarounds that are posted. But it worries me a bit changing the directories in the game manually. I really did not expect having to do this.

You will not be changing the directories but rather ADDING to them. If you have a back up of your saves you don't have anything to worry about because you'll be covered. Give it a try....I tried it myself and it worked ;)

Re-try it maybe you missed something or anything. Make sure the game isn't running when you do this

HOLY SHIT BE CAREFUL GUYS.....I think the bit where people are saying that they are being told to re-enter their username and password is FAKE. Since when is the official website called: www.walkingdeadthegame.com ? it's OFFICIALLY CALLED: www.thewalkingdeadgame.com Fishy no ?

they both redirect to the REAL website.
    http://www.telltalegames.com/walkingdead/

Also, at the time I am writing this, I am reading over ALL the posts in this thread.

    my case:
I can click "GET" on Episode 4, but it stops on 0.00%. I get the standard connection error-popup.
    I use Windows 7 64-bit
my internet-connection is more than functional enough for downloading.
I am located in Norway (that's north in Europe for those who don't know).
    my patience is getting thin.
I feel the urge to EAT telltale games employees

...that last line was a joke...

Yeah afterwards I pressed on the site and it did re-directed me to Telltale's official website. As for your problem here:

Just did that, right before I checked the newest post on the forum just now :D

It would seem this bypass is the only way to get though with a bug like this.
...I just hope it will work (gonna test the game now).
I hope Telltale Games learns from this: DON'T USE IN-GAME DOWNLOADERS UNLESS THEY ALWAYS WORK.

    *well, not working for me.

Please note that I modified the "HERE" button as when you copy and paste it only copies the text and not link, so I had to re-direct you to the site hehe

Another one here with the same issue. Had similar problems with all other eps, but they at least got there.

This gets to 10% then dies. Constantly.

No way I'm trying that workaround, either...
  • edited October 2012
if you make a back up of the save games you won't have a problem. I did it myself and it worked perfectly :)
  • edited October 2012
Same thing, have been trying to download ep. 4 a couple of times today, yesterday and Thursday, but it shows 0,00% and complains about my connection, which is of course working quite nicely.
  • edited October 2012
    Same problem:\

After 3 days, I'm up to 1% downloaded!

    Finally getting somewhere :D
  • edited October 2012
    So nothing yet, eh?
    This is pretty bad. :(

Up to 10%. They must have changed something cause I was not getting past 0.00%.

    Same issue.

First I got the license issue mentioned earlier. Rebooted my PC and I got past that. Then I had the "Coming Soon" issue mentions earlier. A few restarts of the app got me past that. Now I have the connection lost issue. What a joke. This is my first and will also be my last purchase from Telltale Games. I don't mean I'll buy from Steam in the future either. I just won't buy at all.

I can deal with bugs in newly released games. What I refuse to deal with is **** customer service and companies that ignore the issue or try to deflect the blame onto the customer when the issue is CLEARLY at their end. TTG appears to be doing both. I'll finish TWD games (if I can ever download them, that is) because I've already paid for them but after that count me as a customer lost for good.

Well, add me to the list as well. The game connects to the internet and I see the "get" button to downlopad Episode 4 but as soon as I click it I get the popup message that states I lost my connection, please try again.

Here's a simple workaround for the instant "connection lost" issue.
  • edited October 2012
Started day 4 with no change on my game and no response from TTG

Trying this now, started at 1% now all the way to 74% with no snags or cutting out. If this works TTG owes you a medal.
  • edited October 2012
WORKS!! You do need a medal!!!! Thank you so much, downloaded perfectly and now I can spend my Sunday indoors playing this like a normal person :):) xxxxxxxxxxxx

So I tried this again and it seems to have worked. You are officially my new personal hero! Thanks!

Just noting I played the whole ep 4 with no incident thanks to you, DjNDB!! :):)
  • edited October 2012
Because of TTG:s message I just thught I'd give it another try. (I have played ep4 with the workaround.) Interestingly it still will not download.

TTG: Your advice regarding how to solve this problem is utterly useless. The issue is not on our side.
  • edited October 2012
This is outrageous. After repeatedly being told I don't have an account, then being told I can't get the episode yet, I have to deal with this issue where it won't download the episode?? I'm attempting the solution posted above, but I'm furious at Telltale games for not fixing this sooner. I shouldn't have to manually fix this myself, the game should work when it's released!
I've tried to avoid spoilers, but since I've had to wait so long to play it, I've ended up seeing some MAJOR spoilers for episode four, which really pisses me off.
Telltale games, you've caused me so much frustration and anger. I will NEVER buy anything from you again. It's so much easier, and cheaper, to just watch a game I like on youtube. You guys are terrible, and I hope you feel ashamed at how much stress and anger you've caused some people here.
  • edited October 2012
Hopefully they get it working tomorrow for those of us who don't want to try the work around, or for those that it didn't work for. I have been able to avoid all spoilers and I won't have a problem continuing to do that, but I'm still hoping to play soon!
  • edited October 2012
still being shown that I have no license for the game.... eh i didnt actually expect telltale to fix anything anyway
  • edited October 2012
I tried the workaround several times over the weekend to no avail. :(
  • edited October 2012
I just sent an e mail, and received an automated response. So still no updates. I was hoping someone would do some brainstorming over the weekend, and get this fixed bright and early this morning, but no luck yet.
  • edited October 2012
Hi everyone. I have not tried downloading ep4 today but I will. I was just wondering if we all have in common that we are running the game on Win7 64 bit? Just curious.
  • edited October 2012
I have the same problem. I've tried multiple times to download episode 4 on different days.

I also had the problem with episode 1's decisions not transferring to episode 2. Although it gave me an excuse to play it again it was still inconvenient.

These issues have soured me a little on Telltale and I'm not sure whether I'll be buying anything else.
  • edited October 2012
Just for an update: Ep4 still will not download.

Hi guys, just want to let you know that Telltale is actively working on this. The official statement here will be updated as soon as a fix is available. They are definitely aware of the issue, and want to get you started on episode 4 as soon as possible!
  • edited October 2012
Am a bit behind, finished ep 2 a couple of days ago but can't download three or four at the moment. And too scared to try the fix...

Think I'll just start a new game and be a complete bastard to Kenny, and save Doug to see what the difference is. Don't think I can bring myself to be mean to clem though...

    Ditto...
  • edited October 2012
    Mikael.h1 : Yes, I too am running Win 7 64 bit.
Cristos Diablos: I had the same problem w/ Ep1's decisions being randomized at the start of Ep2. I just restarted the episode about 3 or 4 times until the random decisions luckily coincided with the ones I had made. Lucky Me!
