Doug or Carley
Who do you think is the better person to save? I Like to save Carley because she gives Lee the option to tell people about who he really is. And When you talk to Carley after you escape the drug store, she says basically that she wish that both Doug and Her could be saved. But if you save Doug he says that I wish you saved her (Carley). And I get that Lee is trying to help and that is why he saves them, but really what is the point of saving someone if they are going to die later in the game?

I saved carley because I thought she was more useful than Doug, and had a better chance of living. I got to know her better and trusted her too and she knew lee's secret and helped him tell everyone.
Carley for Lee's development, and Doug for his own (albeit limited) development. That's really the only significant difference to decide on. Choosing between a gun or out-of-the-box thinking becomes much less important when you realize neither changes the overall outcome in the slightest.
Other differences I sometimes take into account on replays are things like gameplay tweaks and the way scenes play out. For instance, I can't help but be bothered by the Andy St. John fight when I save Carley, because she apparently decides to sit out the rest of the fight after the first shot. On the flip side, Doug's lack of a presence in the motor inn argument is less preferable to me than Carley making her opinion known on both Kenny and Lilly, making the tensions feel more divisive and thus effective. And then there's the final scene for both characters, where Carley's feels more tense and shocking, but Doug's plays out way more logically (Lilly doesn't primarily target Doug for ridiculous reasons that have no build up at all, but focuses on Ben, the outsider, instead).
Both have pluses and minuses in my book in terms of what either brings to the table.
To keep the game from ending right there at the pharmacy. Good a reason as any.
Personally I think Doug is the better and more interesting character but Carley gives you the option to tell everyone about Lee's past which really irritates me.
Yeah your right.
I always pick Carley, she's useful with the gun and you can get Lee to tell people about his past.
The only reason I saved Carley in my first play through is since she's such a good shot I thought she'd be able to kill the walkers that had Doug without a hitch, but obviously it didn't work out that way. I'm glad I saved Carley instead of Doug; she's gives Lee the option to tell the others about his past, I like her a thousand times better than Doug and I'll always choose her over him.
As the Lee/Carley relationship was progressing, they would get together real soon if it wasn't for Lilly. Depends on how you played your cards with Carley when she told you that she knows your secret. You could've let her die along with your secret.
Of course, Larry knew it, but you didn't know that at the time the pharmacy was being overrun.
Carley for me. She's hot and good with a gun.
I couldn't agree more.
In the moment of my first play-through I chose to save Carley. I said to myself, "ahhh who do i save? well, she knows how to use a gun, I'm going with Carley"....so while Doug can prove to be useful later, Carley's dead eye was more valuable than anything Doug could've brought to the table
every character is going to end up dead eventually. you save characters even if they're destined to die b/c all one can ask for in a world like that is a little more time...another few minutes, hours days, ect...everyone is essentially delaying the inevitable so to you might as well give someone more time if you can
As many others have mentioned, I'm sure. I saved Carley because she is a good shot whereas Doug didn't do well around walkers. Doug may have been smart, but being able to protect yourself and your group is more important. Plus, Carley knows who you are and she encourages you to tell the group. Doug doesn't. So when Lilly tells them Lee is a murderer after she shoots Doug, you lose Kenny's trust.. which you want to keep so he'll help you when you need it.
Carley because she was good with a gun, which is quite useful, you can tell about your past with others and Doug wasn't too useful other then being smart.
I would choose Doug. He is more useful since he has a great amount of knowledge in technology. How he devised the TV Plan in Episode 1 proved his worth. I honestly don't like Carley even though she defended Ben vehemently. She kept prodding Lee with his "convicted murder" case and went from not telling everyone in Episode 2 to "I think you should tell them" in Episode 3. It's not her business about Lee's life and it's been about 3 months in the outbreak.
Doug, he's just plain awesome.
I chose Carley because she's extremely useful with a gun, you can tell her about Lees past, and she was an overall interesting character that I felt a bond with. I liked Doug also and found him very useful, but I felt more of a connection with Carley. Not to mention, she was a potential love interest for Lee. I liked the idea of that, and I also liked the idea of Carley becoming a motherly figure towards Clem.
Carley. I like Doug Ok, but he was given such little in terms of an introduction that I had already warmed up to Carley and been given incentive to rescue her rather than a man whose only interaction I had had with him was whispering about a remote behind a gate on looking a horde.
I had multiple discussions with Carley about Lee's past, been shown an entire moral choice scene with her, and was shown slight romantic involvement with her and Lee.
I took care of him...
Carley because...my Lee BADLY needed that puss.
Am i the only person who liked Larry? Sure he was a asshole, but he had his reasons. When you are in the military you develop thicker skin than most people.
If you read my username you'll understand :P
I picked Carley because I thought I would get a chance to bang her.
Carley. At first it was all about the pretty lady with the gun. Then her part in the story, to have Lee tell everyone about his past, seem to make picking her totally worth it.
Narrative of the first episode is built so that Doug never really got any chance. Lee has plenty of time to interact and get to know with Carley and Doug's only moment of stardom is that silly scene where he tinkers that universal remote.
Naturally I ended up saving the girl with a gun, who had just helped to save Glenn, and not the nerd. And I don't regret it, because there was more character development with Carley than there is with Doug.
Larry is one of my favorite characters from the game series. I really enjoyed his attitude and comments.
I saved Doug (My first playthrough anyway) of course. Look guys, Just because Carley had a gun, and there was a chance she would do Ship worthy things with Lee, does Not make Doug useless. Doug had great Ideas, and Doug survived as long as Carley anyway. Doug was always trying to do right, And he always succeeded in the end. He made a Valiant sacrifice for that fucking piece of shit Ben, And He made some awesome shit. He proved many times that he could Hold his own, and Pull his own weight. Doug was funny, and Unlike Carley, Doug wasn't Offensive, Annoying, And Nosy. I hated Carley, I really did. And I loved it when Lilly shot her. I looked at Carley's dead body and Laughed Like a Maniac. Doug will always be my guy.
Except he never got it. OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Hell yeah! This guy knows what's up.
Always save doug.
