I both hate Kenny for who he is in season 2 and think he's written extremely poorly, though?
You make it sound as if, if someone has any kind of reaction to a piece of art, it's good art.
Which is nice wishy-washy philosophy, but not how things work. Art is about conveying meaning, and writing is art. If lots of people misunderstand the meaning intended to be conveyed by the writing team, then the character is poorly written.
If people drastically misunderstood one of my characters as people have done with Becca, I'd be pretty upset and think that something went wrong in the writing process.
I wouldn't necessarily say that, I think a well written character can also be defined on what players/viewers/readers think of them. I hate… more her personality, and to achieve that kind of reaction from someone she would naturally have to be well written.
I figure at the end of the day its just a matter of opinion. I agree that if someone has any kind of a reaction to a piece of art, it doesn't mean its good art. At the same time though, I can believe that very same thing, it just depends on the story/character. Its confusing to explain how I feel about it I guess.
If lots of people misunderstand the meaning intended to be conveyed by the writing team, then the character is poorly written.
Not necessarily either IMO. If you take your own personal interpretations based off of the character and come up with a different meaning "intended" by the writing team, it doesn't mean the character is poorly written. It can mean the complete opposite, since the character can symbolize something different depending on the person.

I think that Clementine Should Have Been a Lesbian with Sarah
Tha must be one of the most unpopular opinions i have heard in this forum, if you were even being serious
People give Carver too much sympathy and act like episode 3 ruined him - he's a great villain, but not a likable charcter.
IMO Carve… morer was seen through a perspective, as a evil dude. People aren't evil. People are just people. I feel like we were robbed of a chance to get to know the character, and we were only shown one side of him. People aren't like that, i have many sides to my personality.
Sometimes the bad man comes out. I got to put him back in his cage, like the blind demon guys in Resident Evil four.
For me it was just a personal preference. I completely get why others love it, but I was bored with it until the excellent final act. I just couldn't get invested in it, same with Around Every Corner and All That Remains.
The Jane endings in season 2 are far more thematically and emotionally truthful than the Kenny or solo endings.
I disagree, I think … morethe one where Clem enters wellington is okay (if a bit lame).
Jane's endings are the most 'Walking Dead', though, certainly.
Okay, great topic idea by the way
and yeah some of mine are:
* I loved playing Clem more than Lee
* Season 2 was better (becuase of… more the choices to her personality) in my opinion
* I really liked Chuck and I was pissed when he died
* I liked Bonnie... till that episode in Season 2
-I like Vince and wish he could be more of a main-side character
* There should be more Asians in TWDG (I'm not Asian, I just think Asians are hawt xD )
~ I don't hate or dislike Lilly, matter of fact, I want her to come back.
~ I liked Carver, and how he built a community like Howes.
~ I believe Kenny is a better fleshed out character than Lee, and would be a better guardian for Clementine.
~ I could not stand Carlos.
~ I didn't really like Christa all that much, either.
I think AJ is one of the weakest plot devices ever to be shoehorned into a game. His entire presence was so bad in fact, I've grown to strongly dislike the little bastard.
I think every season two character with the exception of Clem were boring and had little to no interesting characteristics.
"No Going Back" was literally the episode that broke my recommendation of season two. I can now confidently tell people with full assurance not buy season two because the entire final episode was literally devoid of any redeemable qualities whatsoever.
Of course, the big one is that I'd sacrifice AJ in order to escape a potentially life threatening situation (being surrounded by walkers with little to no way to escape or what-have-you).
I thought "All That Remains" was the second best episode of the entire series other than "No Time Left."
And lastly, I thought Nick sucked and went as far as to tell Walter he wasn't a "good man."
In my opinion, Carley was an extremely bland character and saving Doug made the game much more interesting, the argument in Long Road Ahead in particular.
I think Lilly is a far better character than Kenny. Much better written and interesting than the grizzly, middle-aged angry male character we've already seen in 500 other video game. Almost don't want her to return because I'm scared that the writers will butcher her character as they did with Kenneth's.
I cannot understand why anyone would think Kenny is a better guardian than Lee.
I thought one of the most heartwarming parts of the No Going Back dream sequence (besides seeing Lee again, of course) was Clem having the option to tell Lee that not leaving Lilly behind was the right thing to do, and how she doesn't seem at all conflicted about her opinion. That was the Clem I knew, someone who had a strong moral compass and always had faith in humanity.
Season 2 Clem was so boring and unlikeable compared to Season 1 Clem, to the point that I see them as separate entities rather than the same character. To the point that I cared about Sarah more than Clem.
I thought the ending with Jane and the family was the best (though still not a particularly good) ending, because it actually fit the tone of the Walking Dead and wasn't based on unbelievable contrivances like the Kenny/Alone endings.
I didn't give a damn about that bundle of pixels Rebecca shat out. How curious that AJ never seemed at all bothered by starvation, subzero temperatures, or being covered in rotting flesh...
I would've been fine with Nuke being canon if it had been one-sided on Nick's part.
I think AJ is one of the weakest plot devices ever to be shoehorned into a game. His entire presence was so bad in fact, I've grown to strongly dislike the little bastard.
Based on ep3 files found in ep2, he wasn't even supposed to be born.
I think every season two character with the exception of Clem were boring and had little to no interesting characteristics.
They were all cannon fodder characters.
"No Going Back" was literally the episode that broke my recommendation of season two. I can now confidently tell people with full assurance not buy season two because the entire final episode was literally devoid of any redeemable qualities whatsoever.
The moment I saw everyone on my group survived the shootout and that Jane pulled off a deus ex machina is when i realized this was going to be another garbage episode like the previous 2
Of course, the big one is that I'd sacrifice AJ in order to escape a potentially life threatening situation (being surrounded by walkers with little to no way to escape or what-have-you).
Will 100% happen in Season 3
I thought "All That Remains" was the second best episode of the entire series other than "No Time Left."
Don't know about entire series but definitely the best of Season 2. It's the most consistent episode that truly makes the whole child protagonist thing work perfectly.
And lastly, I thought Nick sucked and went as far as to tell Walter he wasn't a "good man."
I don't know what the love for Nick is all about, he fucked up everywhere. Maybe the love comes from the fact that we can interact a lot with him from the beginning and not with most characters?

I think I may have said this before, but the end to Amid the Ruins was great. It had a cliffhanger that could've literally taken the story anywhere. I didn't think "anywhere" meant to just allow everyone to live through a fucking MEXICAN STANDOFF and for a rivalry to spark out of literally nowhere between Jane and Kenny... And to, within a sentence say "fuck that nice town we were heading to that no doubt had supplies, lets follow this cock-head who just tried to fucking kill us. He's trust worthy, right?"

It had one thing every subsequent episode in season two lacked, tension. I felt tense playing it not knowing what was in store next, the atmosphere was perfect.
I don't know what the love for Nick is all about, he fucked up everywhere. Maybe the love comes from the fact that we can interact a lot with him from the beginning and not with most characters?
The love comes from the same place it came from with Ben. Because he knows he's a fuck-up, it negates his fuck-up's apparently. I decided at the bridge he'd have to die, I don't like people who have a gun and can't properly use it. I can say with confidence I refused his apology and didn't ever interact with him again.
Agree with every single one of your points.

I think people overreacted when Kenny yelled at Clem.
I don't get why people like Luke. Ever since episode 1, I never got why he was so s… morepecial. He was bland, weakly developed, and we basically didn't know the guy from a hole in the ground. It was the same throughout the entire season and overall, I couldn't care less when he died. Sure, he was a nice guy... But that was probably it for me. Didn't hate him... Didn't like him either.
Sorry, I went on far too long with the Luke thing. Every goddamn time someone says they love Luke I just- I just don't get it!
Anyway....
I actually liked Arvo. Sure, I was never actually nice to him in-game, but I can't hate him. I just can't. I don't know why. I respect him for shooting me, since I was a really big dick towards him. He took a stand, made his mark on Clem... Literally. You know, probably left a scar... Nvm. Just don't ever shoot her again, pls.
That's it, I think.
Oh, and I love… [view original content]
* I like Season 2 more than Season 1
* Luke had a good death scene
* I prefer Kenny vs. Jane over Kenny vs. Luke
* Molly was bland and ca… morertoonish, and I thought Jane was a much better character
* Starved For Help was only ok
* Doug > Carley
* Lee is overrated
* Luke was way too generic and boring for me to care about him.
* Molly annoyed me, whereas Duck and Sarah did not.
* I fed Ben in Sta… morerved for Help and pitied him immensely.
* I'm pretty indifferent towards Christa and Omid.
* Chuck wasn't that great a guy.
* I don't want Clementine as season 3's protagonist, and felt a lot less affectionate towards her in season 2. I like Lee more than her.
* I can't stand sassy/"badass" Clementine.
* I wish there were more options to express your dislike of Jane. "You want a cookie?" wasn't good enough for me.
* I don't hate Bonnie or Arvo.
* Nick's death in Amid the Ruins didn't affect me because I already knew he was screwed.
* I cringed at Jane's "heroic" return in No Going Back since I wanted her to stay gone.
* People overreact to Kenny and Bonnie taking their anger out on Clementine.
* I thought Reggie patting Clementine on the head was cute.
* I want a completely fresh start in season 3.
I dislike Nick very much (impulsive, angry, tried to kill Clementine and killed Mathew) and found it hard to see why people loved him so much.
I thought Kenny vs Jane was a great choice and much more difficult than Kenny vs Luke (I would choose Luke in a heartbeat).
I think Lilly was a great person (I replayed Season 1 and began to see all the good things in her), and she did something bad, but I have completely forgiven her for killing Carley/Doug.
I loved Amid the Ruins, and can't see why people hate it (if it's because of the deaths of Nick and Sarah, I still can't see how ot would ruin the entire episode).
I always liked Mike, and still do even after the Arvo thing (if he's without Bonnie, he won't take all the supplies).
I think people overreacted when Kenny yelled at Clem.

I'm ready for 'em saltlick attacks! YOLO BEYOTCH!!!
I loved to play as Lee more than playing as Clementine.
I don't like Christa.
I hated the fact that Clementine spend 2 years with Christa while she spent only 4 months with Lee. No point being Lee Everett there.
Even though I'm not a hardcore Luke fan, before the "No Going Back" I was expecting to see a Luke ending.
Jane is a pointless character.
Even though I hated his off-screen death (just like Chuck's. Irony, huh?), I didn't care about Nick that much.
Dream sequence in "No Going Back" was the best emotional scene in the entire second season for me.
I don't like Chuck's character. Way back in S1, telling Clementine she's going to die like Duck, pisses me the f**k off. WTF is wrong with you, old douche? I was disappointed that there was no "[SMACK THE S--T OUT OF CHUCK USING HIS GUITAR]" option.
I used to care about Clementine a lot in S1, but now... not so much.
Vince is the only 400 DAYS character that I actually cared about. I wanted him to join Clem's group instead of Bonnie The Female S**tbird.
I was expecting to see Lee critisizing Clementine's choices in that dream sequence in "No Going Back"
Sarah and Pete are the only Cabin Group members I cared about. But of course they're dead! (THANKS OBAMA... I mean... THANKS TELLTALE!)
Ok here goes nothing
* I think Nate is over all a good man and is my third favorite character
* I think Carver loved Rebecca and the… more baby
* I don't want to ever play as Clementine again
* I think No Going Back was Telltale's third worst episode
* Lily would be a good care taker for Clem and AJ
* I liked Sarah and fucking hated Jane
Warning: the following are all my honest opinions.
I hate Luke. He is a Mary Sue at his best and an unlikeable tool at his worst. GOOD LOOKS DON'T WARRENT A GOOD CHARACTER! Would have gladly had him take Nick's place.
Clem should have never been a playable character. It killed her personality from the first game, made all the events of Season 2 unbelievable and stupid, and generally made me stop caring about Clem.
I liked that Kenny came back and stole everyone's screen time. He was Season 1's most developed character and all of Season 2's good characters were killed off/backgrounded anyway. He saved Season 2 from being unplayable.
There should have been a way to have Clem die at the end of Season 2. I don't want to play as her again and seeing her in Season 3 will just remind me how badly they messed up Season 2.
Jane is my most hated character of The Walking Dead full stop. I'm not sure if this is really considered unpopular, but its true.
Larry was my favourite character before they killed him off. He was interesting, strong, and only trying to protect his daughter.
I hated the fourth episode of Season 1 just as much as the fourth episode of Season 2. Both kill off awesome characters for no reason (Chuck=Nick/Sarah), try to make us hate a poor scared kid (Ben=Arvo), and forced a bitchy 'badass' on us who I just wanted to see go away and die (Molly=Jane).
He saved Season 2 from being unplayable and you all know it.
My my, thanks for telling us what we know. I personally nearly stopped playing season 2 and delayed buying episode 2 of it for about a month because I couldn't bear to see what they did to his character. But I guess that's wrong because 'I know that' he stopped season 2 from being unplayable.
good characters were killed off/backgrounded anyway.
This argument doesn't really make sense as the good characters being killed off is a part of Kenny being Telltale's wank fantasy in season 2.
