I breathe heavily as I look around.. nobody makes the first move.. the girl to the 5 is way shorter than ever… moreyone else and keeps a close eyes on me especially. She looks nervous but keeps her cool, Ylenia.. must be mad at me? Does it fucking matter anyway though? Its time for me to kill...
Ylenia and Atlas stand close to one another and I grab my bow while Atlas is distracted.. I grab my slick sliver bow and put the arrow in it, Ylenia looks over at me.
"ATLAS WATCH OUT!" Ylenia screams
and the bow flies by Atlas and slams into Ylenia's side, she falls sideways onto the grass.. I take an arrow from my back and shoot another which flies by Atlas. Atlas retreats running backwards closer to the girl from 5.. he looks horrified as blood leaks out of Ylenia side.
"Ergh!" Ylenia cries out as she pulls it out and clutches onto her throwing axe. Her hands shake in the distance and she throws the axe at me, i… [view original content]
Okay I cant explain.. so pretty much the trackers where triggered to explode if they didnt to cornucopia. The Gamer makers screwed up and were unable to disarm it, so the intense banging and since her arm was exposed and open it caused it to miraculously go off.
Oh fuck. Oh holy fuck! Fucking Lun just killed Atlas... and fuck Soon! Maybe attacking him would have been the better choice. Though I absolutely rooted for Ylenia in here to just kill that bitch... I really don't know who I want to win less. Lun killed Atlas, Soon killed Ylenia. Even though I like the tragedy in their short-lived relationship and I love that Ylenia did not turn against Atlas. That was actually quite sweet... god they would have deserved victory. Atlas was so much more awesome than I thought he would be and he came so much farther than I thought he would be. And he was probably the only one out of the final few who stayed himself. And Ylenia... well, I rooted for her, then I somehow disliked her, but after she killed Carley in the feast I started rooting for her again. I was hoping for her to bring victory and a baby to D7. Fucking Soon, I now deeply regret voting to save his sorry ass over Zelda in that house thing.
I really don't know who to root for anymore. Definitely not Lun, after all she just killed Atlas. But Soon isn't any better. After all he killed Ylenia and is a career on top of that. Maybe both of them died in that explosion, that would be the outcome I am rooting for. Though... is that possible? A Hunger Game without a victor? Guess not... in that case, yay Lun. That bitch would deserve death, but I guess there's no denying that she's the victor after all. I'm still rooting for her to bleed to death before the gamemakers can save her.

Usually I agree with you, but come on. It was the finale! What do you think she was going to do? Make peace? I was rooting for Ylenia to die actually "You killed my boyfriend!" Oh yeah, the one you were with for less then a day. There's bigger problems Ylenia, like half your district starving to death which you apparently forgot.
And Lun did nothing wrong really, if she did nothing, Atlas would probably kill her. Lun's my fav, she's the only one who kept her head straight the entire games.

I fully admit that I am in no position to be unbiased on her, but still... Thinking back I fail to see anything that made her likeable. She stood out because until now she did nothing that made me particularly upset with her, unlike many other tributes and that's the only reason I rooted for her after the feast. Yes, she was no Shelly or Carley, but in retrospect I wonder why I liked her for a short moment. Which brings me to a question of honest interest: Why do you like Lun? Is there anything likeable I fail to see?

Like I said with Finn, I am in no position to be unbiased on her, though I fail to see anything likeable in her. Objectivelly speaking, I also fail to see anything unlikeable in her, I give her that, while I can find plenty of unlikeable traits in any other tribute. However, I had two favourites in that finale, one was killed directly by Lun the other was at least caused by her not dying quickly enough. I agree with you that objectivelly speaking Lun did nothing wrong. But just this once I'll be subjective, simply because I adored Atlas as a character far too much to like her anymore.

I'll see. Maybe I'll be cooled down enough then (as well as not tired anymore. It was a huge mistake staying up and waiting for this) to be a little bit more open-minded about her again. Right now I only see her as someone I had been neutral so far, who just has been responsible for my favourites deaths, but my opinions are not unchangeable. Right now I really hope for no victor in these games (Seriously, is that even possible?), but I admit that I am objectivelly a bit unfair to Lun. She did nothing cruel, she never did anything malicious and only tried to survive... Damn, see, I already start getting more unbiased about her... but still, I got emotions from Atlas parts and from Ylenias parts as well, but I had no emotional connection to Lun, which might change in the epilogue. And, thiking about it, that might be even my main problem with her. She was simply there, while I got invested in the others. I even had an emotional connection to Shelly, albeit a negative one.

If it makes you feel better, Lun is guaranteed dead by the end of Mockingjay, since only 6 victors were left alive. That sucks for all the HG fanfics. Also, there's a chance she lost her arm because Ylenia cut down to the bone.

After having a good night of sleep (seriously, reading that stuff at 4AM is nothing anyone should ever do, trust me), I've thought about it again and I think I see the problem I have with Lun.
While the things you mentioned are surely admirable qualities, the main difference between her and Nero (at least for me) is that Nero had parts that gave me any feels, while Lun was just... well, for me she was pretty neutral up until the finale. While Nero showed his more admirable personality traits with Susie, Lun was busy chilling alone in the forest. While Hope became pretty much everyone's favourite with her genuinely cute personality, Lun was busy stealing Carley's stuff, which is cool in itself, but nothing that made me feel anything for her. While Ylenia comforted a dying Sagig, Lun was busy caring only for herself. Most of the other tributes made me care for them with their personalities, sometimes in a positive way, sometimes in a negative way. And while Lun is, objectivelly speaking, not a bad person, I had absolutely no connection to her until the finale, which means her killing Atlas and (in my opinion) causing the death of Ylenia are the first time I felt anything for her, namely furious anger. And the fact that she will get away with killing Atlas makes me even more angry and makes it unable for me to root for her survival in any way.
Naturally, I fully admit that I am unfair towards Lun. Everyone has their favourites. I'm sure Soon rooted for Soon (hehe, Soon rooted for Soon, get it?), I know Sagig rooted for Atlas and Ylenia and I am certain Purugly rooted for Lun just as I rooted for Ylenia.It's just that from my perspective, Lun killed the two tributes I've sympathised with the most and the two tributes who had arguably some of the more emotional parts of the story, so I hope my anger at her is somewhat understandable.

But thats what I like so much about her she only cared about surviving without becoming this huge asshole, and she didnt just care about herself, if you remember in the Bloodbath when Santiago died Lun was heartbroken and tried to save him after that I think she was written so she just stopped really caring for people. I also liked her sassy attitude, when she told her escort to shut the fuck up I laughed so much. Long story short I think I like Lun because she had a clear difference in personality then all the other players, she wasnt caught up in the Lakeside drama, wasnt physcopath wasnt out to get revenge on anybody.. she was just.. surviving.

After some sleep (like an hour I had tons of homework) I agree. There could've been lots of things to make Lun more personable. She could've mentioned Santiago more, she could've had more screen time, she could've mentioned her family. For the most part, I disliked everyone (Hope and Thomas are the exception, Atlas never stood out to me) I even liked Shelly, obviously I'm biased but I couldn't be the only one to get a little sad when she said her goodbyes. Lun was sorta stiff.
But with that said, I can't stand Ylenia with all the drama she started. Atlas never stood out to me. Carley was over the top evil, Shelly made a decent villain and I never liked Soon. So Lun by default, beats them.

I agree. Maybe I wouldn't be as angry at Lun if I would have had a positive connection to her before, like I had to Atlas and Ylenia. I mean, I never outright disliked her until now, but the others were far more personable to me. One very positive thing with Lun was that she never did something that made me dislike her until now. The only others who managed to do this were Hope, Thomas and Nero. But these three all made me care for them in a way Lun never did, thanks to their parts being decidedly more emotional than Lun's parts. And in some way, this very negative emotion is the first thing I actively feel for Lun.
With Shelly I have to say, even though what she ultimately did is unforgivable for me, I liked her until after the feast. And even after the feast she had a certain tragedy in her character, since I highly assume that her more questionable (Atlas) or outright villanious actions (Sagig) are a result of some sort of bipolar disorder, maybe paired with trackerjacker stings and the mental stress the Games put their tributes through.

I agree with Carley, Shelly and Soon. And I don't entirely disagree with Ylenia and Atlas. I rooted for Ylenia in the beginning, but she did a lot of drama and started to act bitchy, so I started disliking her. But I really started to feel for her when she teamed up with Atlas again and the way she acted around the dying Sagig made her my favourite again. With Atlas I might be biased the same way you're biased with Shelly, but I agree that he was a bit meh and a side character I never rooted for, until after the feast at least. After the feast however he really stepped up for me. He got some good characterization there and in my opinion he had some of the best moments of the After-Feast storyline in his interactions with Shelly, Ylenia and especially Sagig. He was never created as someone who could win the Hunger Games, but I found him immensely likeable after the feast. He was quite probably the most moral of the remaining tributes, he even spared Luns life when Ylenia tried to kill her, which makes his death even worse. Lun on the other hand remained a bit blank after the feast, like Atlas was before the feast, while Ylenia and especially Atlas became very likeable for me.
After some sleep (like an hour I had tons of homework) I agree. There could've been lots of things to make Lun more personable. She could've… more mentioned Santiago more, she could've had more screen time, she could've mentioned her family. For the most part, I disliked everyone (Hope and Thomas are the exception, Atlas never stood out to me) I even liked Shelly, obviously I'm biased but I couldn't be the only one to get a little sad when she said her goodbyes. Lun was sorta stiff.

I breathe heavily as I look around.. nobody makes the first move.. the girl to the 5 is way shorter than ever… moreyone else and keeps a close eyes on me especially. She looks nervous but keeps her cool, Ylenia.. must be mad at me? Does it fucking matter anyway though? Its time for me to kill...
Ylenia and Atlas stand close to one another and I grab my bow while Atlas is distracted.. I grab my slick sliver bow and put the arrow in it, Ylenia looks over at me.
"ATLAS WATCH OUT!" Ylenia screams
and the bow flies by Atlas and slams into Ylenia's side, she falls sideways onto the grass.. I take an arrow from my back and shoot another which flies by Atlas. Atlas retreats running backwards closer to the girl from 5.. he looks horrified as blood leaks out of Ylenia side.

Okay I cant explain.. so pretty much the trackers where triggered to explode if they didnt to cornucopia. The Gamer makers screwed up and were unable to disarm it, so the intense banging and since her arm was exposed and open it caused it to miraculously go off.
Oh fuck. Oh holy fuck! Fucking Lun just killed Atlas... and fuck Soon! Maybe attacking him would have been the better choice. Though I absolutely rooted for Ylenia in here to just kill that bitch... I really don't know who I want to win less. Lun killed Atlas, Soon killed Ylenia. Even though I like the tragedy in their short-lived relationship and I love that Ylenia did not turn against Atlas. That was actually quite sweet... god they would have deserved victory. Atlas was so much more awesome than I thought he would be and he came so much farther than I thought he would be. And he was probably the only one out of the final few who stayed himself. And Ylenia... well, I rooted for her, then I somehow disliked her, but after she killed Carley in the feast I started rooting for her again. I was hoping for her to bring victory and a baby to D7. Fucking Soon, I now deeply regret voting to save his sorry ass over Zelda in that house thing.
I really don't know who to root for anymore. Definitely not Lun, after all she just killed Atlas. But Soon isn't any better. After all he killed Ylenia and is a career on top of that. Maybe both of them died in that explosion, that would be the outcome I am rooting for. Though... is that possible? A Hunger Game without a victor? Guess not... in that case, yay Lun. That bitch would deserve death, but I guess there's no denying that she's the victor after all. I'm still rooting for her to bleed to death before the gamemakers can save her.

Usually I agree with you, but come on. It was the finale! What do you think she was going to do? Make peace? I was rooting for Ylenia to die actually "You killed my boyfriend!" Oh yeah, the one you were with for less then a day. There's bigger problems Ylenia, like half your district starving to death which you apparently forgot.
And Lun did nothing wrong really, if she did nothing, Atlas would probably kill her. Lun's my fav, she's the only one who kept her head straight the entire games.
And what does being a career have to do with anything? Soon didn't even attack Ylenia out of spite, he delivered her a quick death. Something Ylenia was too selfish to give Lun. Yeah they're trained killers but they're also the Capitol's lapdog, they've been told from a very early age that the Games were good. Which you may be surprised, not even the Careers (or at least victors) enjoy the Games.
I fully admit that I am in no position to be unbiased on her, but still... Thinking back I fail to see anything that made her likeable. She stood out because until now she did nothing that made me particularly upset with her, unlike many other tributes and that's the only reason I rooted for her after the feast. Yes, she was no Shelly or Carley, but in retrospect I wonder why I liked her for a short moment. Which brings me to a question of honest interest: Why do you like Lun? Is there anything likeable I fail to see?
Like I said with Finn, I am in no position to be unbiased on her, though I fail to see anything likeable in her. Objectivelly speaking, I also fail to see anything unlikeable in her, I give her that, while I can find plenty of unlikeable traits in any other tribute. However, I had two favourites in that finale, one was killed directly by Lun the other was at least caused by her not dying quickly enough. I agree with you that objectivelly speaking Lun did nothing wrong. But just this once I'll be subjective, simply because I adored Atlas as a character far too much to like her anymore.
She's smart, she's cunning, and she's not some bratty kid like the other tributes.
I guess I'm really just too biased and involved in that case, as well as too tired to be unbiased (4AM in my timezone, please forgive me if I sound angry, I'm just tired and will go to sleep soon). It's your good right to like Lun, but I just can't like her anymore or wish for her victory. She's smart, cunning, she never did anything bratty or angsty, was never whiny and she gave Atlas a quick death indeed. But I also got absolutely no feels from her part, never got any emotions from reading about her actions, at least until now. In contrast, I got quite invested in Atlas and Ylenia as characters, which makes me simply angry at Lun right now.

I'll see. Maybe I'll be cooled down enough then (as well as not tired anymore. It was a huge mistake staying up and waiting for this) to be a little bit more open-minded about her again. Right now I only see her as someone I had been neutral so far, who just has been responsible for my favourites deaths, but my opinions are not unchangeable. Right now I really hope for no victor in these games (Seriously, is that even possible?), but I admit that I am objectivelly a bit unfair to Lun. She did nothing cruel, she never did anything malicious and only tried to survive... Damn, see, I already start getting more unbiased about her... but still, I got emotions from Atlas parts and from Ylenias parts as well, but I had no emotional connection to Lun, which might change in the epilogue. And, thiking about it, that might be even my main problem with her. She was simply there, while I got invested in the others. I even had an emotional connection to Shelly, albeit a negative one.

If it makes you feel better, Lun is guaranteed dead by the end of Mockingjay, since only 6 victors were left alive. That sucks for all the HG fanfics. Also, there's a chance she lost her arm because Ylenia cut down to the bone.
Personally I like Lun because her general personality, she has a pretty stable mindset and doesnt show a ton of mercy but isnt a psychopath. I often compare Lun to Nero (Both I love writing)

After having a good night of sleep (seriously, reading that stuff at 4AM is nothing anyone should ever do, trust me), I've thought about it again and I think I see the problem I have with Lun.
While the things you mentioned are surely admirable qualities, the main difference between her and Nero (at least for me) is that Nero had parts that gave me any feels, while Lun was just... well, for me she was pretty neutral up until the finale. While Nero showed his more admirable personality traits with Susie, Lun was busy chilling alone in the forest. While Hope became pretty much everyone's favourite with her genuinely cute personality, Lun was busy stealing Carley's stuff, which is cool in itself, but nothing that made me feel anything for her. While Ylenia comforted a dying Sagig, Lun was busy caring only for herself. Most of the other tributes made me care for them with their personalities, sometimes in a positive way, sometimes in a negative way. And while Lun is, objectivelly speaking, not a bad person, I had absolutely no connection to her until the finale, which means her killing Atlas and (in my opinion) causing the death of Ylenia are the first time I felt anything for her, namely furious anger. And the fact that she will get away with killing Atlas makes me even more angry and makes it unable for me to root for her survival in any way.
Naturally, I fully admit that I am unfair towards Lun. Everyone has their favourites. I'm sure Soon rooted for Soon (hehe, Soon rooted for Soon, get it?), I know Sagig rooted for Atlas and Ylenia and I am certain Purugly rooted for Lun just as I rooted for Ylenia.It's just that from my perspective, Lun killed the two tributes I've sympathised with the most and the two tributes who had arguably some of the more emotional parts of the story, so I hope my anger at her is somewhat understandable.
But thats what I like so much about her she only cared about surviving without becoming this huge asshole, and she didnt just care about herself, if you remember in the Bloodbath when Santiago died Lun was heartbroken and tried to save him after that I think she was written so she just stopped really caring for people. I also liked her sassy attitude, when she told her escort to shut the fuck up I laughed so much. Long story short I think I like Lun because she had a clear difference in personality then all the other players, she wasnt caught up in the Lakeside drama, wasnt physcopath wasnt out to get revenge on anybody.. she was just.. surviving.
And basically the same things that made you like her made me feel very indifferent about her. I never felt any excitement coming from her, not while the Lakeside group was so much more compelling to me, Carley's psychopathic antics caught me so much more, Nero's guilt about Susie's death hit me and Shelly's slow descent into madness shocked me. Lun was always just that background tribute for me, occasionally having her moments, but I felt nothing for her until the finale since in my opinion there were little moments of genuine emotion coming from her and even fewer moments in which I was able to connect to her as a character, while every other tribute had plenty of these moments. Of course, she's no Carley or Shelly, but most tributes were so much easier to like, which makes me all the more angry at her. Compared to Atlas' constantly selfless behaviour or Ylenia's compassion, I find it hard to like Lun's selfishness. Of course I can't condemn her for wanting to win, but in the end that does not make me like her in any way.

I agree. Maybe I wouldn't be as angry at Lun if I would have had a positive connection to her before, like I had to Atlas and Ylenia. I mean, I never outright disliked her until now, but the others were far more personable to me. One very positive thing with Lun was that she never did something that made me dislike her until now. The only others who managed to do this were Hope, Thomas and Nero. But these three all made me care for them in a way Lun never did, thanks to their parts being decidedly more emotional than Lun's parts. And in some way, this very negative emotion is the first thing I actively feel for Lun.
With Shelly I have to say, even though what she ultimately did is unforgivable for me, I liked her until after the feast. And even after the feast she had a certain tragedy in her character, since I highly assume that her more questionable (Atlas) or outright villanious actions (Sagig) are a result of some sort of bipolar disorder, maybe paired with trackerjacker stings and the mental stress the Games put their tributes through.
