Should Gabe have died instead of Marianna? I feel as if Marianna's character had potential and that Gabe is so far just an annoying character.

Yes. I liked Mariana better than Gabe.
I'm pretty sure everybody would've liked if Gabe had died instead. Mariana was much more interesting and likable. Gabe has his moments, but he's mostly annoying and generic.
Marianna was a good, sweet child and this is why she died, to make us sad and angry. No one would cry for Gabe's whiny ass.
Totally agree, nobody would have given a fuck if he died.
I don't know if this is because he just reached his adolescent crisis or something, but Gabe doesn't make me feel he's been inside a zombie apocalypse for years. So far he's been written as your classic whiny teen who will f**k things up at some point(s) in the story. It seems they've been on the road for a while and must have crossed tough situations and stuff but his character is for me a male version of Sarah that has been in a cocoon during all this time.
I won't wish the death of a character even fictional but Marianna had a better premise yep
The wrong ppl die always
I thought you were gonna say Conrad. like a let Gabe die option
Mariana was less annoying and competent enough not to get trapped in a tractor surrounded by walkers unlike the other dolts. Honestly, I get the feeling "should've been Gabe" is something I'll say to myself a lot in ANF.
No. Personally, I wouldn't've minded if she was the one who was getting operated on instead of Kate but if we absolutely had to lose someone to Hate Sink Badger, Mariana was perfect for that role.
I would've preferred kate (here's hoping). Maybe give her a Lori death too.
Should have been a choice at least. But it wouldn't...you know. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Honestly? None of them.
I dunno Depends on if she would have actually got a decent story arc
Just stop there. Gabe should've just died. Like, he should've just died within the instant we met him so I wouldn't have had to be forced to have the displeasure of being introduced to such an annoying shit. And in actual fact, it would've been better if he was never created, but hey, I'd settle for a quick death where we never have to hear from him and his constant whinny voice, proclaiming to be a "man", ever again.
Same. Have her be the injured one if you really need someone to get shot.
Which she didn't seem like she gonna have, if I'm being honest. Granted, it's been a while since I last touched the game, but I wholeheartedly doubt it.
Everything for the 'drama', my friend.
I think it would have been far more interesting if Mari didn't die and instead receive Kate's role in Episode 2. It would have made the final choice in Episode 1 more difficult, either staying behind with Clementine or flee the scene with your family as you try and save Mari's life.
And in retrospect, it might also have made the final choice with Conrad a little more difficult in Episode 2, since you can add Mari's life onto the dilemma.
Exactly. Just don't let being dramatic and shocking come before being entertaining and enjoyable--that was one of the problems with Season 2.5.
He should just die, regardless. There's nothing interesting about him, his story has been done a hundred times before on TV and other games. Besides, a character like him shouldn't be alive at this point in the apocalypse. It's honestly disappointing that this was the best Telltale could do in how many years of production.. Specially when it's a new season with new characters that are close to the protagonist and that the players are supposed to be invested on as well, otherwise the story around them won't have any effect on people. And out of all the possibilities they can only come up with the typical, moody teenager that wants to help and "be a man" but it only makes things worse in the end. That makes me roll my eyes so hard. At this point, I honestly couldn't care less if Kate ends up dying as well. She's another uninteresting character to me. And it's becoming more and more obvious that the point of her whole existence is probably only to cause conflict between David and Javier. Which is even more cliche and annoyingly bad (specially for those who didn't try to romance her, because it won't matter anyway). Sorry, I'm just rambling now.
I actually shot Conrad hoping it would cause Gabe's death more than attempting to spare Clem from his plan. Sadly, not the case.
No.
Marianna was perfect to die. She was made to die, and to be a shocking/emotional death. She was sweet, had a good relationship with the protagonist and was all around a character made for you to like. That was her entire character.
It wouldn't have the desired effect if it was Gabe who died instead.
Double post! Internet hiccup, sorry.
I literally rolled my eyes and said "oooofcourse" when it happened, not unlike telltale to kill off the only not sucky character for shock effect.
Gabe is the worst part of season 3 so far for me, so yes, I would have liked it if he had died instead of Marianna.
Ya damn right cuz all I remember about her is that she's snarky(probably Javier and Gabe's influence) and she fuckin loves candy bars.
Honestly, that was kind of why her death had no effect on me lol. There was so little interaction and time spent with her when she died I was just kinda like "oh, ok, she's just a plot device to get me to hate NF. What a waste."
I'd rather have Clementine die tbh
Your username fits this comment so well.
Absolutely
Well she's an annoying crazy bitch in season 3. I don't know why people think her and Gabe would be a bad match they are both annoying as fuck and I want them to die but to be fair to Gabe he doesn't go around murdering and robbing people so I guess he can be redeemed.
They were on the screen for the exact same amount of time and had the exact same amount of character development. The only reason this question is being brought up is because Clementine fanboys think she's too good for literally anyone and Gabe is being a "little creep" by being a normal fucking teenage boy. If either of them died it would have had literally the exact same effect on the story, been done for the exact same purpose and the only difference is that 85% of this fanbase would have sighed in relief because apparently it's a good thing to watch a child with human instincts die, but when a child who hasn't had lines of dialogue towards Clem die it's suddenly horrible and you'd rather have the other kid die.
EDIT: I'd also like to mention that it's quite unrealistic to think that Mari wouldn't have become as "annoying" as Gabe is currently if she were the one alive.
YES!!!
Don't need to read the rest of your question. Just, yes.
How the fuck is she annoying in Season 3? Give me a damn example
Because this is The fucking Walking Dead. This isn't about romance. This isn't fucking Titanic.
I guess that you forgot that she changed a lot. People will never be the same in this mad world.
Lol wtf i don't want Clem and Gabe to be together I want them to die lol
Number 1. Robs Javier and actually justifys it because she "saved him"
Number 2. Threatens to shoot Javier if you don't want to give her the van
Number 3. Shooting Eli which was stupid because you should only be shooting the gun if she intends to to kill someone like how Lee taught her
Number 4. Actually gets pissed of at Javi if he doesn't lie about how killing a guy
Number 5. Wants to open fire despite TNF having a hostage showing she only cares about herself
Number 6. Actually gets annoyed at Javi if he doesn't want to murder Conrad she clearly thinks the world revolves around her
Have you seen the quality of his posts? It's not worth bothering lol
If you don't see why Gabes normal teenage boy even though normal went out the window 4 years ago annoys/perplexes people, I don't know what to say. You also seem to be confusing yourself by arguing they were on screen for the same length of time and had the same amount of development, meaning you're excluding episode 2 in your defense of Gabe, then go on to use episode 2 to prove that's the only reason people hate Gabe.
I was excluding episode 2 in the discussion because this is an episode 1 discussion. Yes I'm well aware Gabe is a bit annoying in Episode 2, but that doesn't mean Mari wouldn't have turned out the exact same. The issue I'm seeing is that even if Mari was written the same and just as annoying as Gabe and Gabe was the one to die, Gabe will always have gotten more hate purely because he's a teenage boy around Clementine.
Yeah gabes irrritating while Marianna was the sweetest kid, telltale done us dirty there.
