  • Saddest thing is, Telltale has wonderful, caring community which supports them and wants to help them improve/fix their mistakes, however all Telltale does is minimize and ignore us. It's not outraged hatred towards them, it's constructive criticism and honest feedback from many great, passionate people, yet TT keeps calling us a minority and marginalize their fans as they meant very little to them. No AMA will fix it, especially something handled as badly as the current one.

  • That is probably the most important post, i've ever read regarding Telltale.

My problem with ANF is, how the narrative is structured. You really have no end-goal or anything. Many scenes feel forced, to move the plot forward, without any direction. The game that did their narrative the best is, imo, Tales from the Borderlands.

Your first goal is to get the Vault key. It gets destroyed and you lose your money, so your next goal is to return it. It gets destroyed but you find the gortys project. End of Episode 1.

Your Main goal of Episode 2 is to find the Atlas facility and get the Gortys Core. You find both. End of Episode 2.

Your Main goal of the rest of the season is to Open the Vault to get rich. You find it. End of the Season.

The transition from one goal to the next is just smooth and doesn't rely to much on random events or something.
I miss this kind of flow in TWD.

Remember Tales from the Borderlands narrative had help from the ppl that made Borderlands, while Telltale can manage a good plot without help from other companies SOMETIMES it can be annoying to make a good plot for other games like TWD

  • Yes, that was me.

You'd be surprised about what art you might have seen floating around on the internet that turned out being mine. I've seen a couple profiles on youtube/social media that used my art as profile pictures. Check my twitter media and deviant art, most of my work is there.

Whoa shit, hold up, you're the one that drew that Rick picture? Well shit, I guess it really is a small world.

  • Use my work as inspiration not an obstacle. Had I put down my pencil whenever I saw good art, that Javier drawing wouldn't have ever existed.

picks up pencil Me: "I'll try my hand at drawing again, I can do it, it will be the best piece of art ever...!" sees how much work goes into just the line work puts down pencil

  • Any reasons you want to share or are we just going to agree to disagree? xD

Disagree. Ep 6 was good. Also S2 of TWD was awsome

he indicates that Telltale are attempting to replicate films, and almost sounded like they deliberately keep their stories short, opposed to fleshing them out, to fulfill a "bite sized" marketing goal or something ridiculous.

In regards to that, as much as they want to replicate films (as discussed a while ago by Flimsii), their games completely lack the technical, auditory, and visual quality on display in.... pretty much any film.

They also believe that films last an hour long if we look at the length of some of their episodes. I honestly still have no idea why they don't utilise what makes games so unique from film and TV and that's the interactivity and pace of games. In a game, things go at your own pace. This can either be a good or a bad thing where some games it feels like you're just doing gameplay things to get to the next cutscene (hm...sounds familiar...) but in other games is an example of fully appreciating the design/environment/gameplay aspects.

Yet Telltale are content with giving us little to no hubs and just want to rush the story as fast as possible to get to the ending. But this is a game, I'm in no rush to get straight to the ending. I want to talk to the characters, I want to spend time in their meticulously crafted worlds. I want to feel immersed. But I can't do that because of this ridiculous mindset of finishing the episodes in one sitting. It's over before it begins.

  • Yeah exactly... I'm loyal because of my experiences with their games but each release seems worse than the last. In the past I've bought every single new series just because I loved and trusted Telltale, but the new GotG game is the first that I'm actually considering not buying because of my recent experiences.

They're not going to be story rich if they're short, man. The more time there is to work with, the more story rich they will be. Being complacent with short episodes is the equivalent of accepting a shorter, not as rich story. Period.

  • Yeah, but by 'short' I mean minimum 90 minutes, which comparing to S1 episodes that had like 2 and a half of solid gameplay is still very little.
