That's not what I'm saying. Whether they choose to respect and accept or not, either way, I don't think that I would classify them as a "goo… mored person". After hearing testimonies from others, who have been heavily influenced from a young age, and later turned away from that lifestyle, I would have to strongly disagree with you. It's not a "proven fact", as you say. And please don't try and say that they were never homosexuals, because that's simply not true. But they embraced that lifestyle at one point in time, which goes without needing to be said. To use the same logic that you have used here, in saying that they are "born that way", we would have to say that liars, murderers, thieves, and others are just "born that way", but using an excuse like that won't hold up in the court of law. I would make reference to another group of people, that would better help you to understand, but then it would cause more drama than is needed. However, you can believe what you want. I have said my piece.
Sexual attraction is purely biological, so they are indeed born that way. It isn't a life style, no one would choose to be discriminated and… more to have a higher chance of being murdered. Lying, murdering and stealing is not biological. There is no comparison to be made here that would follow any sort of logic.
I do believe the people you know truly believe that they were "cured", I don't think they are lying. I heard that same discourse coming from members of a local church before, people who were led by their families to believe that they "came out wrong" and that they "needed to be fixed", so they turned to their faith for comfort. I hope these people you know could find peace, because a couple of the ones I knew ended up killing themselves for being on that situation.
A person isn't a good person solely for accepting different people, but that's a pretty good step in the right direction. I've been working with criminal justice for almos… [view original content]
Dude, as an "underage player" myself, I can tell you that NOT A SINGLE GAY SCENE will make people gay. Trust me. My friends have been watching yuri and yaoi anime since they're eight, and they're still straight as fuck. (Sadly)
Dude gay people are normal. I remember I hated myself for having feelings for other girls, tried always to look away, having almost all male friends because I was scared that being around girls would make me lesbian (boys only talk about football).
You know who saved me? My best friend, always getting me to watch her yaoi and yuri animes. After a while, I got used to it. I stopped being grossed up, and felt like it was a normal thing. Then I started to accept myself.
I went through a very hard time last year. I hated myself, I felt worthless and I wanted to die to make my family's life easier. I'm better now, but I don't want to think what would have happened if I had one more reason to hate myself.
In short, shut up. Minorities in the media are important. Specially for kids. And even if they "act gay" later, they're not stupid. They're going to grow up, they are going to figure out hos they really feel. You don't have to worry.
You, just like the moderator, have sorely misunderstood the intended purpose of my original comment. But desensitization is a gradual proces… mores with gentle nudges. You can believe whatever you want, though, as most people do in general, and on this forum especially.
If I have the option to play him straight, which I do, then he's straight. And he will continue to be straight don't care what a writer says unless he explicitly forces Javier to say it in the game without my input.

Lol Matthew and Walter never interacted, they made it extremely vague since I saw tons of people thinking they were just friends, and they both died shortly after meeting him. That's not good treatment of gay characters at all.
I agree that minorities deserve a place in the video game world, but not when it feels shoehorned in there.
Telltale already did this wit… moreh Walter and Matthew, and that was done just right. It wasn't forced and nobody was making a big deal out of it.
Another good example would be Bill from TLOU, who was also gay. But it wasn't forced either, he was just a guy who happened to be gay.
Diversity is a word that seems to get tossed around a lot without much meaning other than things like sexual preferences or race. You could have a character that is a doctor, a character that is a body builder, and a character that is unemployed and that would be diverse regardless of their race or sexual preferences.
in all seriousnes, i would be glad if he was bi if telltale actually did it right. whats the point of making character bi if hes only gonna make out with chicks?
I love how people think Matthew and Walter were handed well, did you play the same game at all? They never interacted, it was extremely vague, and died shortly after meeting them. That's not a good way to treat gay characters.
Javi is still bi if he's into Kate, he still likes men as well. That's how bisexuality works people.
As for why does it matter? Well as a bisexual person it means a lot to me, especially because in media the word itself isn't used often.
Name ten other playable bisexual men since some are saying, it's too much.
One last thing straight people watching or playing stuff with lgbt characters isn't suddenly going to turn them gay. Going by that logic, they're far more straight characters in the world, why aren't they turning us lgbt people straight then???

being bisexual means you are 50/50. please stop defending telltale and get off my back. you are giving me anxiety. if you dont like my opinion, then just ignore it.

I wonder if Javier being bisexual was something he felt that he had to keep to himself? From what I gathered, no-one else in the family had ever brought up his bisexuality, not even David who was portrayed as someone who would rib his little brother at anything with every opportunity he gets.
In a way, it did seem to make sense to me that we only find out that Javier is bisexual at the very last few minutes of the season if we chose a specific dialogue to Jesus that hints his bisexuality. Perhaps Javier was just happy to flirt with somebody who he thought would respond well to his complement? Not only that, the two were alone for the first time and no one else were eavesdropping on their conversation.

That... would make a whole lot of sense. I mean, yeah, for all we know Javi could be closeted and perhaps he wasn't willing to come out during the apocalypse especially at a time when emotions are at their highest. I doubt he would risk any safety he did have.
Maybe the whole thing of it being down one dialogue path is that only when Jesus started saying Javi was a charmer, that Javi was actually comfortable flirting. Because he picked up on Jesus being gay and so felt safe. And especially since they were alone, Javi felt free to flirt because no one could then out him or become aggressive?

They never interacted because one had died already, and that drove the plot forward. Walter had a lot of development to him in like 45 minutes, I wish he could've stayed longer but they did his character justice. As for vagueness, Walter outright calls Matthew his "partner" and expresses that he probably couldn't have lived into the apocalypse without him. Walter can even kill someone for killing Matthew, it was expressed pretty well that they loved each other. There are plenty of examples of homosexual couples not being treated fairly narratively speaking but Walter and Matthew were handled well.

Having two gay characters be a couple in your game and have them never interacting on screen is bad writing. It was vague, during s2 tons of people who played it didn't even know they were a couple.
Also the plot point of Nick killing Matthew didn't matter for the rest of the game, so that wasn't even written well.

Yeah, I like this interpretation.
Yeah me too because if this is the case then Javi must be scared of telling those who are close to him in case they end up hating him or become aggressive towards him for it. Not that I'm suggesting those around Javi are homophobic but, he may fear it.
Perhaps it's a 'What they don't know can't hurt them' situation.
I kinda wished that Javier has some moments where he express some slight interest on men just to give us hints that he might be bisexual.
… more I have no problem with playing bisexual characters but it just come off as a sudden addition when it is acknowledged by the end of the season.
I just added other thoughts in my reply. It is like a person. You can be straight, homo or bi and still be in not relationship whatsoever. I… moret all depends in the circumstances.
Well, in real life people just assume everyone is straight, but it is not always the true. You don't need to show it to anyone at least the right moment appears. I think that is the reason why they gave us that alternative.
I think they should it make it clear. Just like when they were forcing the player on making Javi likes Kate by throwing us the kiss her, hug her, or w/e other option they showed and the same with Eleanor, they should make it clear with Jesus, too.
I believe that should be enough for everyone to know what to click. IF they pick those romantic options and they are guys and then complain....WELL..... they were warned.

When I first saw this, I was thinking "Was he looking at Jesus in some way?"
I might have missed it. Could be in episode 5 when he saw his outfit.
There was an option to flirt with him.
I had to re-watch it somewhere. "You're a real charmer." xd
My point was, he can't be 'straight as an arrow' because he's bi.
If I have the option to play him straight, which I do, then he's straight. And he will continue to be straight don't care what a writer says unless he explicitly forces Javier to say it in the game without my input.
he will be transitioning into trans next season
I mean, if you keep saying Javi is straight, you're just erasing his identity... But ok, if you wanna do that, that's fine. :)
Ugh, ok we're done.
Cool

Name ten more games with a bisexual male playable character. Good luck, I know they don't exist.
That's not how it works.
The point is making it realistic. He could be 80% into girls and 20% into guys. Or maybe Kate is (determinately) the only one he's interested on.

Damn I feel sad for Javi now.
Treating things like this as if it's special rather than treating it like it's normal will continue to uphold the belief that this is not normal.

I'm glad two of my fave characters are LGBT (oz and javi)
It would've been a smart move if you could use it in defense when David is trying to accuse you of being with Kate (if you weren't)
Javi is the first known LGBT protagonist in a Telltale game, it'a exciting for me and other LGBT people.
warmed?
I get that, but it's something that's just usual now.
Ah yes, the dumbledore is gay route
