That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Then what in the hell is the point of replying to someone if they may not even know someone replies to them. I'm not going to scour every bookmarked discussion or discussion I've commented on (which reminds me, instead of just commenting on a thread to bookmark it, now you have to remember to hit that star icon in order to do so) just to see if someone replied to a comment I made. That's like going back to a Youtube video you commented on to see if anyone replied back to you. That's the entire point of having notifications, so you DON'T have to do that.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking at. I can't see how many comments I have or likes now, I can barely see the number of likes that people have on specific comments and I'm having a difficult time understanding who is replying to who.
If I'm having multiple discussions with someone on a specific thread how can they tell which comment I'm replying to? DabigRG's comments come to mind (no offense pal!).
Even though this is not... perfect, like, at all, the previous forum version was completely bonkers when it came to tracking comments, notifications, DMs, etc.
There is no longer notifications for replies.

Uh, um... This is a lot. This is very "new".
I'm scared someone hold me.
Seeing it for the very first time on my phone is scary.
I'm not sure how I like the reply system yet, so I'll need to get used to it. But for now I'll say I don't like it. It'll be weird to see who is replying to who at what stage of the comment line now.
Posting comments has improved. I like how we can finally save our comments as drafts in case something goes wrong. Doing various effects of sizes and spoilers is more easily accessed, it seems. Posting images is faster now, but the gif above did leave me confused at how fast it was. I put in the link, press enter, and get greeted with empty square brackets for the title, normal brackets with the link filled in, and new empty quotation marks at the end.
Keeping track of PM's is really good now, instead of having to write down the link to the message page before it sinks into my feed. However, this has resurfaced a few of the porn spam messages and I am not checking those out again.
I assume the star icon next to threads is the "bookmark" icon? Speaking of which, the forum says I have one bookmarked, but nothing appears on the page.
The one big thing I don't like is the separation of all the telltale topics. I liked scrolling down one page and have easy access to new discussions across all levels of the forums. Now, everything is separate so I'll have to load other pages if I want to get to them and see new things. This is not going to help alert people of new things easily.
There's a lot to look into right now so I'll leave it at this, but so far.... I dont know. I don't like how much things have changed, so hopefully I can get used to this fast. I'm just thunderstruck at this layout change.
One More Thing: What did you do to my beautiful thread??!THE PLAYER'S SPACE Where is the main post that informs people of all the episodes?
There is no longer notifications for replies.

In reply to Don't Look Back because the reply system is fucking stupid now
DID THEY GET RID OF LIKES
DID
THEY
GET
RID
OF
MY 70K
LIKES
Yes, yes they did.
Oh, this is even better, we still have to create pages if there are too many comments. So now, if you're reading a comment on page 2 or 3 that's in reply to someone from page 1, when you click on the "In Reply to" button, it has to take you back to page 1, and then you have to go back to page 3. That doesn't in anyway make things unnecessarily complicated for no goddamn reason other than to make it unnecessarily complicated.
You can click one the inferior right of a comment to get the comment they're replying to highlighted. In one hand, lots of scrolling. On the other, no more unrecognizable replies in a huge chain of comments due to blending.

Why should I have to do that Blind, why make things harder on myself when I could just let the forum display that I'm replying to someone by posting my comment directly below them. I mean, if someone "forgets" to do that and just posts a comment like this, they would have no idea what I'm replying to you about unless they click the button, and as I mentioned, if its on another page in the thread, it will take you all the way back to whatever page the comment in question is on.

You use the quote function

I know I sound like a broken record, but yes, that will happen in the short run since most of the discussions so far were previously presented in Reddit style.
Once people actually make discussions based around linear comments, the discussions won't be so disorganized. You will find comments will be better organized in the long run. It also improves our ability to better Moderate threads.

This is how most normal forums operate, and it makes discussions more organized. Discussions will be better since it encourages more quality posting. You guys will adapt in the long run once threads are actually made around linear comments.

I hope so. I can deal with the linear style but tracking things and being forced to quote every time just seems kinda tiring.
Also weird note: It says I signed up on December 2013 when I actually signed up in October. Not sure why that is either.

I think that the web team is looking into a solution about the Reply issue to make it more clear who is replying to who.

HOW?! Even if it does (which I fail to see the correlation for), why do I need to give myself a headache trying to figure out who replied to who over what?

That will be an indefinite problem in the short run.
HOW?!
Discussions will be linear instead of being presented with Reddit comments; this encourages longer form posting with more elaboration. With the Reddit comments, some people treated commenting as more of a chat room environment and less of a discussion.

Again, I did that and it's still not giving me notifications. I signed out and back in again, still nothing.
EDIT: While I'm not getting any notifications, when I click the globe I see ones that say "This person commented in this thread", but again, not getting the notification.
Yeah.. I'm not getting notifications for replies either.
And what's up with the "recent activity" section? I'm seeing comments that look like they could be from private discussions (between DLB and Metallica about a discord server), I have no way to check where these comments are being posted, I'm seeing old things like Caroline updating her bio In her profile, and various avatar changes...
What is all this stuff?
I kinda get dizzy when I see the new look of the forum. It looks... Weird... I guess I'll get used to it. I must say that it's a lot easier to navigate through all of the threads, I like that.
Yeah.. I'm not getting notifications for replies either.

Earlier I said how I'm not getting notifications for people that reply to me, people pointed out that preferences and all that stuff. Couple things though
1. There's no option to get a reply notification
2. When I click on the globe icon, my feed is filled with things saying "This person commented on this bookmarked thread" even though that's not one of the preferences I have saved.

That's intentional. Wall Posts are public, and also, the Activity feed now shows off status updates, etc. Think of it like Facebook.
Yeah.. I'm not getting notifications for replies either.

Well, one good thing seems to be that now the website leaves you right where you left of in a discussion.
testing...
Maybe try logging out and back in? If that doesn't work, I'll let the web team know.
Oh my god, it's so ugly. ;-; Previous style is waaaay better...

You'll get used to linear comments. The same thing happened in Fall 2013 when Telltale switched to Reddit style comments; people will adapt to it.

You can set "notification preferences" on your profile. It's under the silhouette of a person in "preferences"
I think that the web team is looking into a solution about the Reply issue to make it more clear who is replying to who.
Why doesn't it automatically quote who you are replying to if the goal is to make it like other forums
I agree that would be useful, and we want that too. I think the web team might be looking into something to fix that.
I hope so. I can deal with the linear style but tracking things and being forced to quote every time just seems kinda tiring.

That would be an improvement over what it is now, that's for sure.
That might be based around when you made your first purchase or when you first posted on the forums?
HOW?! Even if it does (which I fail to see the correlation for), why do I need to give myself a headache trying to figure out who replied to who over what?
I also have my sign in date changed two months ahead. February 2015 should be December 2014...
That will be an indefinite problem in the short run.

Yes; it encourages longer form posting with more elaboration. Things will make sense when threads are made in this format.
I kinda get dizzy when I see the new look of the forum. It looks... Weird... I guess I'll get used to it. I must say that it's a lot easier to navigate through all of the threads, I like that.
