Just bought the Walking Dead on disc. This game glitches so much that I cannot play it. I need a work around or I need a refund.

I'm having the same problem. Bought the game today and I cannot even play it. Glitches so much the is no way to get through any quick action scenes.

I started playing and noticed some freezing. I got to clementines house and the zombie is completely unfightable. By the time a control icon pops up she has already crawled to me and eaten me. I tried over and over naively thinking it would break out of the glitching but it didn't. WTF

I too bought the disc for XBox and am experiencing the same issues that are described above. I want to know what telltale intends to do about this issues considering the game is useless.

i bought the game on disc and not to many glitches i have seen its just that i finish episode one and then i try and play episode 2 and it starts me over on episode one wtf idk what to do i need help or there needs to be a patch made for the game on disc

I'm having the same problems as you guys. I picked up the game today on disc and its practically unplayable. The only reason I got through the kitchen at Clementine's house was because I spammed the A button. I was expecting to come home and play the game of the year but instead I'm left disappointed.

Telltale, Please release a patch soon.

the game may work better on a flat screen that what i been playing it on and no glitches for me but when i finish the first episode and try and start the second it takes me back to the start of the first episode this other issue needs fixed too
  • edited December 2012
I am also playing or attempted to play the game on a flat screen. There is absolutely nothing you can do during the action scenes.
  • edited December 2012
I am also playing on a flat screen. The actions scenes just freeze and glitch. I have made it through a few of them by just mashing the button hoping it works and dying a ton. Even when I do make it through I missed part of the scene anyway.

im wondering if its just a batch of bad discs or something like that
  • edited December 2012
yea i know what u mean i have seen they have been making patches for the game online and pc but not for xbox 360 yet and even if it is a batch of bad discs if they would make a patch and we could download it onto our system for our game then the problem would be solved but someone else on here should try and go all the way thru the first episode despit the glitches and tell me if u can play episode 2 cause when i click on it, it will restart me back at episode 1 if one of u can get to episode 2 please let me know and let me know how u was able to
  • edited December 2012
I was unable to play past the first episode due to the glitches but when I saw your post I did check if I was able to play the other episodes and I was, but they all had the same problem. As far as if the game goes smoothly to episode 2 after completing 1 not sure yet.
  • edited December 2012
whattt idk how it let u play episode 2 i even tried not even doing episode one and tried episode 2 and it wont let me there is something seriously messed up with the games i dont get glitches but u are able to play any episode with the glitches and i cant play any episode besides the first one i wish telltale would say something about this issue
  • edited December 2012
I know what you mean. Maybe if we combine games will have one good disc.
  • edited December 2012
haha who knows but did u actually click on episode 2 to see if it would play and not take u back to the start of episode one where u are in the cop car cuz for me i press rb to go to episode 2 screen and it says play so i click and it takes me back to the first episode where im in the damn cop car again id like to play the other episodes
  • edited December 2012
yeah i actually played a little of each level to make sure.
  • edited December 2012
i havent checked the online store on xbox live for this game to see if there is a patch or some sort of update for the disc version of this game so who knows maybe there is
  • edited December 2012
i wonder why it wont let me play any other episode then
  • edited December 2012
your not going to believe this but i just went through them all again and now its not letting me play them, its starting over on episode 1. The first time I tried them though they all started first time, because each episode would start by saying "previously on the walking dead" and then show you a bunch of cut scenes from the previous episode. This game is screwed.
  • edited December 2012
i just did some updates in between, I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
  • edited December 2012
so there is updates on xbox live for this game?
  • edited December 2012
no these were just random updates im really bad about putting those off
  • edited December 2012
I love the walking dead and the idea of this game.. But come on. U cant even attempt to play this without wanting to throw ur controller through ur flat screen from all the glitches.. What happens now.. Eat my money and not get to play what could be an aweaome game.
  • edited December 2012
By the way i dont have xbox live so no online updates will do me any sort of goodm hooray for awesome games u cant even play.
  • edited December 2012
i wonder if there is updates or patches for this game on xbox live
  • edited December 2012
So there is all these complaints about this game and still noone has anything to say about fixing this.. Should i take it back to where i bought it and see if a different disc makes a difference or do we keep waiting because if thats the case u should have never even released this dam game yet.
  • edited December 2012
so im waiting on what the telltale game guy has to say about this hope he gets back to me

I actually exchanged my game at best buy hoping i had just gotten a bad copy.. Well.. They are all bad copies WTF!! how do u release a game without testing it for BS like this before letting people piss away 30 bucks.. Im truly livid. Ive called telltale. No response. Emailed telltale. No response. Been posting on here since last night hoping for some kind of answer and guess what.. No response. I guess with a name like the walking dead u just automatically know fans of the book or show are gonna buy it especially for a price like 30 bucks. I must say this is the first and last telltale game i buy whether it gets tqken care of or not. Thanks for the awesome gaming experience i kept hearing about. NOT.

As many others have already posted this game is a lagging, freezing, unplayable mess.

We have all spent our hard earned money on a game that TWD fans have raved about, expecting to have the same great game playing experience. Yet what do we get? A game where you cannot even play due to severe glitches. It makes it impossible to even get past the second scene of Episode 1. Your quality control really dropped the ball with releasing a steaming pile such as this.

We deserve answers and to see that you are ignoring every last one of us with this issue is very frustrating. And not only that, it is also very disrespectful to those who have supported your company by purchasing this heap.

We are trying to determine the cause of the issues you've specified.

Can anyone experiencing hitching and lag please let me know the following:
How many storage devices do you have on your Xbox?
What type of storage devices are they (HDD, flash drive, MMU)?
How much free space do you have on each storage device (go to your system settings, then storage)?
Have you installed the Title Update through Xbox Live?

For anyone who has experienced Episode 1 load when selecting Episode 2, can you please answer the following questions:
How are you selecting Episode 2 (please list individual steps, if you can)?
Are you completing Episode 1 first?
Can you load Episode 2 independently on a different save slot?
Most importantly, does this happen every time you try to load Episode 2?

What happened to me was, when I eventually passed all of Episode 1, I waited for all the credits to roll and then I decided to stop playing for the time and start up Episode 2 later.

I just went back to the game's main menu, selected the Home menu on my Xbox, and then shut down as usual (removing the disc from the console, shutting down the console, etc.).

When I went back to start Episode 2, I loaded my saved game from my hard drive, from the Slot 1 save spot, and ended up at the select episode screen. I think it automatically goes to Episode 2. I pushed the play button, and it just brings me back to the very beginning of Episode 1.

I see the screen that tells me the game is one based on the decisions we make, then I see the Walking Dead title in big red letters, and once again, I see the intro scene to Episode 1, with the car driving up the highway.

This happens every time I try to play Episode 2.

I even tried playing Episode 3, and the same thing happened -- I get sent back to the beginning of Episode 1.

I even went back and did "rewind" and played the very last part of Episode 1, waiting through the credits, and it was the same result. I couldn't play Episode 2.

Please connect to Xbox Live and install the Title Update and this should resolve the issue you are experiencing with Episode 1 starting instead of Episode 2.

After I posted my reply above, I saw your post about the Title Update in related threads.

I just downloaded it right before I came back here, and the game seems to be working.

    Thank you.

It is the XBOX 360 Slim 4GB - There is 2.3 gb left on the original storage and 4GB left on a 16 GB flash drive. And yes, the update was downloaded.
  • edited December 2012
I have the same I even wiped my hard drive of all other games to see if that would work , it did not. I too have updated the Title Game.

None of the possible solutions that were given on this forum are not system requirements for this game to preform like a normal game. I shouldn't have to go buy extra storage or have a xbox live connection. This game should have gone through more testing instead of rushing completion to fill the void of the mid season finally.

Maybe there needs to be an investigation into why this game was knowingly released while having major faults.

totally agree. my disc keeps freezing horribly. i was so pumped for this box set and it plays like complete crap.
