if you have an iphone, the walking dead game episode 1 is free for today, just so you dont have to deal with this bullshit.

maybe it's free because it glitches on the iphone too and they dont do anything about it

The obvious problem here is the drive speed of the xbox 360 isn't up to streaming this game properly. It looks like the gameplay is similar to the old arcade game dragons lair (where it was a streamed movie with player actions tied to the video playback). From what I hear the playstation 3 version is fine and, according to the forums and regardless of what they are telling you, the xbox 360 version isn't. If this is the case then they need a way to cache the game, or parts of the game, to memory to allow for smoother playback. But hey, what do I know. I'm the fool that thinks $50 should get you a game that works...

We are trying to determine the cause of the issues you've specified.

Can anyone experiencing hitching and lag please let me know the following:
How many storage devices do you have on your Xbox?
What type of storage devices are they (HDD, flash drive, MMU)?
How much free space do you have on each storage device (go to your system settings, then storage)?
Have you installed the Title Update through Xbox Live?

    2?

    My 4gb 360 slim + two 8gb flash drives + TellTaleGamespatch = Disappointed.

I went out of my way and started an account here just to let you know this is BS

Your post was removed because you were insulting and abusive. As you can see people are generally allowed to complain here, but calling people names is not tolerated.
Since you don't seem to agree with that, you are not welcome here.

Just got this as a gift this morning (disc version). I installed the patch. Very glitchy. All action scenes are unplayable. Even small action scenes like when he kicks the police car window would freeze for a few seconds. I am using a 4gb Xbox. But somehow I was able to download the first episode arcade version from Xbox live and it worked until I died and then it just froze completely.
    Telltale Games epic Christmas fail!

Lol no input from Telltale on a resolution since Dec 16 on this (community moderators keeping the peace don't count).

The two people I recommended this game to (with a massive caveat of the save states being unreliable) are actually pissed at me for telling them about this game. I tell them the same thing that Telltale would tell them here. Shit happens.

Cannot play The Walking Dead for XBOX 360. It freezes. You cannot survive because of the lagging. This was a Christmas present for my husband and I am embarrassed and disappointed. He was so pleased when he opened his gift and eager to play.
What are my options? I cannot return it to the store because it has been opened.

Yup same thing is happening with me. I have the Xbox 360 4G edition and the game is almost unplayable. During the fight scenes I can hardly tell what to do and I end up dying each time. It is only by accident that I end up making it through. It has made it a very UN-ENJOYABLE experience to play this game that I was very much looking forward to. FIX IT ASAP.

You might be able to, if you detail the severity of the problem and that it's not a matter of you receiving a defective copy, but the product itself.

I was able to return it for store credit.

Joystiq picked this up as a news blurb today. Hopefully it'll prevent some gamers from buying the game and getting a terrible experience.

    Edit:
Gaming Unwrapped picked this up over a week ago but no other major gaming news site wanted to talk about it. Their use of forum quotes in their article is funny.

Honored to be quoted in their article. Hopefully they will help spread the word. Sad to say I still haven't been able to play this game. It's looking like I'll be using it as store credit towards CoD Black Ops 2. Good luck to the rest of you, hopefully they will get this sorted out eventually for those of you who decide to keep the $30 coaster.

So GameStop took the game back and offered store credit? It seems GameStop has no official policy, and some forum posters are saying GameStop isn't allowing for anything besides an exchange for the same game.

Just got the game for Xmas and am ready to return it as I am experiencing same amount of glitches / freezing that makes game impossible (and completely annoying) to play

Am stuck in Ep 1 at motel and can't get past RV zombie

It's seems to me like it is up to the person behind the counter at the time. I've heard of people getting the full $30 as store credit, and others who haven't had such luck and only got there buy back store cred. But at this point I will take whatever they will give me for this garbage, even if it is only $6. Doesn't seem like it is even worth the frustration. It will DEFINITELY be the last purchase I make with TellTale though. Not only are there products faulty, but describing their customer service as sub-par is being generous.

I'm not expecting to see any information from Telltale about the game's many issues (digital and disc based) until we are in the New Year.

They are going to have to do some very fast talking though, as this silent treatment could come back and burn them badly.

games broken. cant get passed the first zomby... is there a way we can get a DL code for this game? i have it on xbox 360 and got the collectors edition.... back to read my compedium..

I woke up one morning to see beautiful snow and wondered what great new deal was on Xbox live. I turned on the Xbox 360 and with shine in my eye, I saw that the whole first season of The Walking Dead was at sweet and almost unbelievably low price. I quickly used up my Microsoft points to download each and every episode (except the first because it was free). After waiting about waiting an hour for the downloads to finish, I obviously played them. I zoomed through the first episode and wanted to play more. I finished the end credits and started up the second episode. I was extremely disappointed to find that it froze to a black image and only played very sad violin music endlessly. I thought " Hey maybe it was just a little glitch I can fix by starting it back up". But sadly that wasn't the case and found myself saddened and dismayed. Then I searched the web to see that there were similar cases among other Xbox 360 players. I hope that maybe Telltale Games can fix this bug soon so I can again play the game I purchased.:(

After a few days of searching around I finally found the Disc version of the Walking Dead for the Xbox. I began playing the game and noticed a few hiccups right away with episode 1 while driving in the police car. When I got to Clementines house and had to fight that first zombie it kept freezing and was prompting me the buttons to press way too late. I finally beat the zombie after mindlessly hitting the controller. The game is extremely glitchy and any quick time event is impossible. I was excited when I read there was an update, but even after the update the game is still unplayable. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I can't get a refund and in reading these boards it appears that telltale has yet to address this problem. I hope they eventually do the right thing and release a patch or something because this is unacceptable. How could a game like this pass QA Testing with these types of glaring issues? I am also wondering if telltale has stopped sending out these discs to retailers because of this issue as I had a hard time locating a copy of the game.

I just tried to play it some more and this game is completely UNPLAYABLE!!! 30 Bucks down the toilet! WHAT IS GOING ?!?!

I wonder if we should email David Felton directly... he's in charge of QA and game production for Telltale Games. It'll be interested to learn if he takes any responsibility for the miss or if he's cashing in and taking some long holiday because the game has performed well enough for the game mags/reviewers to enjoy the product.

    https://www.telltalegames.com/company/ourteam/davefelton

Using corporate email methodology he's either dfelton@telltalegames.com or david.felton@telltalegames.com

Bought the game for my wife, got the xbox 360 disc version, it is NOT playable on her 4GB slim due to the frame rate issues. It is barely playable on my old school 360 elite. Overall I am very dissatisfied with the game and need this fixed in some way. I cannot bring the game back since it is opened and the eb games where I bought it refuses to take back opened games, but they will give me a trade in value of 5 bucks. What a waste, I am going to keep the game with the hope that telltale fixes the issues in a patch or they do something. Until then, no more telltale games will be bought by me, ever.

I bought the collector's edition of this for my son because he loves the show, he loves point and click games, and he had been expressing how he wanted to read the comics. I played the digital version of this game and lived every second of it. I couldn't wait for him to play it. Needless to say, the disc version plays like a complete mess in his Xbox (4gb slim) to the point that it is completely unplayable. I tried it on my Xbox ( also the slim) and had the same issue. This was the one gift that I was really looking forward to giving him and in this state, it was hugely disappointing. I hope they do the right thing here and resolve this soon. I understand a lot goes into fixing this kind of thing but they need to say something positive to their customers before this turns into very negative press for TellTale. It would be a shame since I really think this is the game of the year.

This is ridiculous. I have created a 'support ticket' and have posted on here and I have tweeted them to no avail. This lack of response is very concerning.

    Whats going on?!?!?!?!?!

I've got the collector's edition of TWD for the 360 and I can not start episode 2 after I finish episode one. When I select episode two it reverts to the beginning of episode one. This game is broken and I'm not happy. I have an xbox elite 120GB model so this problem is not just affecting slim users.

i just took the game back to target and got a cash refund, i brought a printout of a webpage saying that the game is all messed up and full of glitches. they said they were gonna copy the printout and send it to the head office to tell them and i got a full refund

I just bought TWD game from Game Stop. I'm not sure what their return policy is but I hope it covers unplayable games. My teenage children and I all are proficient gamers, and we are all in able to get past the skips and jitters at the babysitters house. I'm angry and disappointed. We were all excited about this game and it was a waste of money. Taking it back to GameStop and hopefully able to get a store credit. I'm sorry but this game dropped the ball in an epic way.

i figured out what the problem was for those of you who cant play episode two after completing the first one. I have an xbox elite 120 gb and when I would start ep two the game would start back to the beginning. I had even dl'd the patch and it still wouldnt work. Well I tried again last night and it finally went to eoisode two. The only thing I did differently was keeping the xbox connected to Live. Maybe this will help a few of you with the same troubles I had. Just make sure you stay connected and episode two should fire right up.
