  • FOLES’ GOLD. GO EAGLES!

  • FINALLY.

The Cloverfield Paradox (AKA Cloverfield 3, AKA God Particle) finally has a trailer and the movie is actually being released on Netflix right after the Super Bowl!

  • LET'S GO EAGLES. VICTORY FOR THE UNDERDOGS.

TAKE THAT BRADY AND BELICHICK'S GOONS!

  • InGen lol. I went out for a bit after work and decided to head home early to avoid the celebration riots or loss rage riots. I am literally listening to screaming, horns, and the occasional police siren through my window lol.

  • It was a hella of a game. I live in Northern Virginia, so the celebrating is mostly limited to my house.

  • Oh yea it was a damned good game. The aftermath, man I remember when the Phillies won the world series, I was worried either way lmao. I hate the Eagles, my aunt/godmother was always the coolest person I knew so I followed her when it came to teams, but I'm glad my 80 something grandfather got to see the Eagles win one before he goes. Now to brace for everything else lol

Completely out of the blue, Netflix is releasing the third movie in the Cloverfield series as a Netflix exclusive tonight. When they said "Releasing very soon," they weren't kidding.

I just started watching it right now. I'm interested to see how it turns out.

I just got done watching it, pretty good movie overall. And those last 5 seconds...that was awesome. The one thing though that bugs me is that I’m so fucking confused on the timeline now. Because (spoilers ahead for the original Cloverfield and Cloverfield Paraadox) if the escape pod Hamilton was in at the end of the movie was the same thing we saw crashing into the Atlantic at the end of the first Cloverfield, how is there already a monster attacking Earth?

  • Honestly, what they’ve been doing with the release and marketing of these Cloverfield movies is odd, but also really cool.

The original Cloverfield started out through a viral marketing campaign and was kept secret from the online community.

10 Cloverfield Lane was announced in January, 2016 and came out two months later.

And now The Cloverfield Paradox is first shown during the Super Bowl, and comes out a couple of hours later. If this keeps up, Bad Robot is going to include the trailer of the next movie during the previews of the movie itself.

  • Very entertaining game. Terrible defense pretty much all around by everybody for 99% of the game though. It's always great when a game comes down to the last play.

I went to a viewing party at a casino. So much free food. Good times.

  • Definitely didn't think it be as high scoring as it was. Brady should saved his "we're only gonna score 17 points" response for this game lol.

  • Haven't watched those movies, but I should probably get around to it sooner than later. 10 Cloverfield Lane intrigued me, and that was before I even knew there was a "Cloverfield 1". This trailer surprised me tonight that's for sure.

I've heard that the third movie has been complete for quite some time, but was scrapped or something. You believe any of that stuff?

Also, the plot (from an outside perspective) strikes me as odd, but in a good way. Seems like a very weird but enjoyable movie series.
Cloverfield 1: Aliens from space have come to town!
Cloverfield 2: People are trapped in a bunker with an evil John Goodman for some reason.
Cloverfield 3: Remember those aliens? Now you can see people fighting them IN SPACE!!!
    no spoilers pls

  • Wait wait wait. If they start the marketing campaign after a film gets released in theatres, attendance can only go up! It'll extend the theatrical run further than it would have otherwise. Genius! I don't see a single flaw in that plan.

Just finished The Cloverfield Paradox. I thought it was a great movie, however I don't think it's as good as 10 Cloverfield Lane (just because John Goodman alone). It's also a bit disappointing as well because it doesn't really answer as many questions as people would like (right now the movie is getting its ass blasted by Reddit but it's nowhere near as bad as they're making it out to be). It also has the problem of the characters not being too particularly interesting. Nonetheless, I'm still really excited for the next movie which is supposed to be set during World War II currently titled Overlord.

    @MetallicaRules

Wasn't Clover in the original movie supposed to be a baby? In Paradox the monster we see at the end is way way bigger than Clover. Its head goes above the clouds.
Also I'm pretty sure this is an alternate universe to the original film as well.

  • I think the biggest problem with both 10 Cloverfield Lane (which is a fantastic movie, don’t get me wrong) and Cloverfield Paradox is that they were never meant to originally be Cloverfield movies. They were all meant to be their own things, and then Abrams or someone comes in and says “You know what, let’s make this a Cloverfield sequel/prequel,” despite the movie probably being 90% complete. As a result, you’re getting these continuity issues or legitimate questions about the timeline and how it all works being asked. And while these movies are good, I still would like a legitimate sequel to Cloverfield that would, hopefully, answer the questions that are being raised and sort out the confusion.

Yeah but I think that's what keeps them interesting. What other movies are actually Cloverfield movies? Is the upcoming Benji movie secretly Cloverfield 5? Who knows!?/s

Besides aren't these supposed to be anthology movies that are only ever loosely connected to each other? I honestly never really expected them to directly tie in with each other which is why I was surprised at how connected Paradox actually is. Also judging by how Paradox ends I think we will get a full on sequel eventually, but for now we'll be getting Overlord to make these universe(s) even more convoluted.

And it seems like Overlord will be dealing with nazi's, demons and other supernatural stuff rather than sci fi which will be interesting.

  • I legitimately did not know that there is another Cloverfield film, and that it's already out on Netflix now.

I've enjoyed Cloverfield Lane 10, although I don't really plan to watch the original as I think that the sequel seems good enough as a standalone without needing to see the first film, and I'm planning to watch Paradox now.

Just going on memory I can't even remember a time when they didn't have anything coming out soon. Wolf is 2nd half 2018 so that means ep5 of Batman in the next month or two then nothing for awhile?

No amount of mcdonald’s or good resumé can make this torture worth it DX I finished way too early and had to wait for him to finish so 8 of those hours was spent playing cube field and staring into space without trying to look like a weirdo, but I’m socially awkward so there’s that

  • Cool, here are some tips of unlocking the dlc:
    1. You have to beat Vicar Amelia
    2. Go back to Hunter's dream and you will see those little creatures with a shiny thing in front of the stairs that you have to examine
    3. Go to the Cathedral Ward and let that sneaky Amygdala from the roof grab you and Voila, you're sent to the dlc.

  • So I have had this topic on my mind for quite a while, and I decided to put it out there.

Do we as a society have a to casual view of sex? Hear me out!

Before I start though, I want you to please note that I refer to FWB situations as arrangements, NOT relationships, because if you're just hooking up with someone, you're NOT in a relationship with them, obviously, and I feel to use that word to describe an FWB situation paints an INACCURATE picture of what is going on, as well as can lead to UNREALISTIC expectations.

So here's my question, as well as my thoughts on the subject:

In today's world, people hook up with each other left and right, and people have a very cavalier attitude about it. Many enter into FWB ARRANGEMENTS.

But while sex is very enjoyable, it isn't a game, as can lead to very serious consequences, like unwanted pregnancies, or STI/STD transmission. And even if contraceptives are used, like condoms for example, they're still not a 100% full proof.

In the case of the former, all too often the child in question either grows up without a father, or is aborted; even though it did nothing to deserve that, because the child in question certainly could not help that it was conceived, nor the circumstances surrounding its conception, nor the fact it's parents either didn't want it or that it might have been an inconvenient time for the parent.

And in the case of the latter, there are social diseases out there for which there is no cure for, like HIV/AIDS, HEPATITIS, HERPES, and HPV for example. And even with treatment, any one of those diseases still alters that person's life forever.

Not to mention, but sex is the most intimate thing you can do with another person. And when people enter to an FWB ARRANGEMENT, nearly every single time, if not EVERY SINGLE TIME, and I've seen this in both my own life, as well as from observing others in such a situation, is that one person develops feelings for the other, feelings that are often not reciprocated, which leads to heartbreak.

Now some may argue that an FWB ARRANGEMENT can benefit both people involved. But if/when one person developes feelings for the other and those feelings are not reciprocated, and normally what ends up happening us that the party who did not develop feelings for the other leaves the one who did essentially hanging out to dry, whether they intentionality did that or not, in such a case you could also argue - who did the arrangement really benefit?

In such a case, the FWB ARRANGEMENT clearly did not benefit both parties, because one of them is being left with the short end of the stick.

And when you really stop and think about it, about the foundation that FWB ARRANGEMENTS are based on, it's really one of complete selfishness, because it is essentially says:

"I want what I want, when I want it. In the end it's all about me, and if you can't handle that that's your problem, not mine."

And I don't say that to offend anyone on here, because to a certain degree we've all done it. There's no single person in this world that hasn't used another person like that in some way. It's not something to be proud of, unfortunately because we're all imperfect people, it tends to happen.

So with everything being said, it just really makes me wonder, do we as a society have a way too casual view of sex?

And if indeed that is the truth, then perhaps it is time that we as a society need to change our value system. The question is, how do we go about that?

  • Well for some reason my notifications don't work since February 2 and it's getting annoying, every time I want to see if someone replied to me I need to go to the thread and sometimes I never read the replies bc the notifications don't work and I forget about my comment and the thread

  • As they say, nice guys finish last. AM I RIGHT?

But really, this is thought-provoking. This is one of the biggest reasons I've only had one opportunity for a relationship back in high school, but I broke it off before we could start. None of it felt right... She had recently broken up with my best friend and then she came to me all of a sudden. At the time, I had extremely bad social anxiety. The social anxiety had made me feel so sick, I couldn't take it, I had to break it off. I didn't realize it till after I broke it off, but I'm sure she was really pushing the relationship so that she can spite my friend. Thank god my social anxiety broke it off for me. It might've lead to something terrible...

If I were to ever have another relationship again, I want it to be one I know I can hold onto. The first priority is being a friend for the other, not any of the other luxuries. If you, or the other, let the luxuries blind you to what a real relationship is, it won't last. You'll just be a junkie seeking the high. You need to know that they would have your back when you get in a bad situation. If you know they don't care about your problems, it's not a real relationship. And for everyone, it's different. You can be pulled together by the luxuries and then form the real part of relationship shortly after, I just don't prefer that way of doing it. It's hit or miss with the way you form the connection with the person, and you'll mostly likely miss when the luxuries are handled first, but some people like to live on the wild side. Everyone I've come across has been blinded by the luxuries and fail the see the roots of the relationship. Without the roots, there's nothing to hold the relationship together.
