  • Cyberpunk 2077 gets a lot of shit these days and people have every right to get pissed.

But I am sitting here and thinking: Why was CD project treated like God before this whole situation to begin with? I never even heard of the Witcher games until they released the third game which was praised all over the place. I did play The Witcher 3 a little bit, I thought the story was very interesting and I liked the characters but I could never get into the gameplay, thus not finishing the whole storyline. It was dated af and I didn't find the combat very intriguing.

Maybe it's just not my type but I don't think one "masterpiece" can turn a whole studio into one of the best and the fans scared me so much.

Why was CD project treated like God before this whole situation to begin with?

I think it's cause they've done a lot of pro-consumer moves in times where other companies would make it painfully clear they're only doing it for the money (now, CDPR definitely does these moves for the money -- especially since people are more willing to follow and buy your products if there's a lot of goodwill behind it, but still, they look better than other companies because of this)

But, they tried to push their luck this time in some very very anti-consumer, manipulating moves... And it kind of backfired, kind of didn't?
(They made back all their money on day 1 due to pre-orders, but... It's a very broken game and very un-optimised for current-gen) Somehow people still try to defend them because of this, though, which is baffling.

Kinda reminds me of... another dev that was maybe put too high on a pedastal this year, and the hype couldn't hold it up.
    Yikes.

Especially the ones who say "What the fuck did you expect? They ported it to 7 years old consoles who are dated as hell". I'm like, are you fucking serious?

First of all, this game was supposed to come out in April 2020, the time when PS5 and Xbox Series X weren't released and it was marketed to be on PS4 and Xbox One so many times. They never said anything about waiting for next gen consoles or upgrading it to them.

Secondly, did anyone actually forget Red Dead Redemption 2? I'm not exactly certain about its budget but RDR2 seemed MUCH bigger than this game and it ran soo well on my base PS4 console. There were still a few bugs but they happen rarely and there were no gamebreaking glitches. Also, from what I have read, GTA 5 appears to be the most expensive game ever made, even more than Cyberpunk 2077 and I had zero issues with it when I played it on my PS3 back in the day. CD's defenders have no excuse for this.

  • I am not crazy! I know they swapped those legal rights. I knew it was 4. One after The Walking Dead Season Two. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just - I just couldn't prove it. They covered their tracks, he got that idiot on Steam Database to lie for them. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? They’ve done worse. That “Redux” trailer? Are you telling me that a Telltale leak just pops up like that? No! They orchestrated it! Gearbox! They ruined Vaughn’s character! And I gave them the benefit of the doubt! And I shouldn't have. I took it into my own game library. What was I thinking? They’ll never change. They’ll never change! Ever since they recast Troy Baker always the same! Couldn't keep the same voice actors! But not our Gearbox! Couldn't be precious Gearbox! Stealing us blind! And THEY get to make Tales from the Borderlands 2? What a sick joke! I should've stopped then when I had the chance!
And you, you have to stop him! You -

InColdBlood was doing a stream rewatching some of his videos and he mentioned a few things that are interesting to note:

    • Those family photos in Javier's house are apparently not anywhere that's easy to see
    • Among the concept art used as paintings are the Ski Lodge during the day, a lake, and a large pond in a forest
    • The unused animation of Clementine knocking out Javier was supposed to happen after she kills Eli
    • Francine was apparently bitten, which would've motivated her "betrayal"
    • The Season 2 DLC was envisioned to be a perspective thing, where you'd play as certain characters during points of the story.
    • Michonne was made specifically to help raise more money
    • He doesn't know why an early achievement for the series finale has the achievement Time Bomb: You covered up the crime.
  • Uhhh

This. I also feel like they kinda became "the new Bioware" after The Witcher 3,TW3 was a great example of how to make a AAA game right but many people (including me) only played it way later when it came out, from what i've seen TW3 didn't exactly have a great launch either but got patched later i imagine the same will happen with Cyberpunk.

The real problem is how some people are okay with a game coming up like that if it means it'll be patched later there really is no excuse for this,it's not an early access game it's supposed to be playable and that's the problem. It's a shame because the game really is good too.

That sounds really awesome, should have done that to pump in some extra cash instead of the Michonne series. I was a longtime advocate for some sort of DLC for stuff like how Kenny survived Savannah, or Jane and her sister, or something like how Luke and company escaped Howe's and the circumstances surrounding that. Even if you already know what was going to happen, you still would have added some extra story or character depth with it. And who's to say it had to revolve around choices, you could have done other stuff with this that focused on gameplay like puzzle solving (though, this being Bruner's Telltale, we all know it would have followed the choice format and Telltale formula).

  • I was defending CDPR and Cyberpunk in the time leading up to its release, but yeah, its hard to impossible to defend this launch as anything but horrendous. If this was EA or Activision releasing a game like this (unfinished, unpolished, buggy, low resolution), we'd all be shitting on it, and rightfully so. CD should not get a pass because they haven't always acted like them. True, while their track record isn't as long as those other companies and they have a history of actually fixing them instead of just saying they would, it's still unacceptable and we shouldn't let them get away with that. You don't pay to see a movie in theaters, only to have it be a complete mess, and then go and buy the director's cut with 30 extra minutes that fixes up some of the problems (looking at you Batman V. Superman). I paid for the full movie, so I should get the full movie. If I paid for the game, I expect it to work and function when I get it, not months down the road.

  • So I'm watching Life is Strange for the first time and I gotta say, these graphics are--whoo! Seeing that Max's notebook listed 2013 is really saying something cause man, some of these seniors and teachers look like lower res GTA IV characters. And that's if they're lucky--above the middle is an ascot guy with a Fortnite haircut and just above the lower tier is a round girl with fuckin frosting for hair.

Plus, the lipsynching, if you can call it that, wasn't much better than a nutcracker with lockjaw on the teacher and Daniel weirds me out for a number of reasons despite his model actually looking alright.

Some of this subject matter is also a bit offbeat, even knowing about the rewind mechanic and the tense relationship at the apparent center of the story's conflict. That note thanking a girl for a porn video is one thing already, but how is there a drug deal gone bad in the first fifteen minutes?

P.S. How can you know Prism?

I'm playing Gris right now. Great game so far. Utterly beautiful looking, incredibly well animated, absurdly good soundtrack and the gameplay is a decent amount of fun albeit a bit slow, especially toward the start.

However, I got through about two thirds (two hours) of the game and decided to take a break. Got to the menu and accidentally clicked new game and now I have to restart everything from the beginning.

Damn that sucks, sorry. Stick to it though this game's a true indie gem one of the best indie games i've ever played honestly it really is something.

that's been in the news a lot lately.

Speaking about a certain video game making some huge news lately. I just order a full refund from Cyberpunk 2077. I will have to wait a few months to a get it again. Probably god knows how long tbh. Still it is just sad what happened to this most anticipated game this year. Ugh

I'm sure this wasn't made directly towards a certain video game company that's been in the news a lot lately.

  • Netflix Canada now has the Spectacular Spider-Man series!! Hell yes!

(And it was added 4 days ago, according to info sites... So, for some reason they didn't think to add it to their "coming soon" tab in the last month? Thankfully it randomly showed up for me. I'm pretty sure this thing has been notoriously hard to find outside of expensive DVD and Blu-ray releases...)

  • Finished Gris after I tragically lost my save file due to my own incompetence.

I will repeat myself in saying that it is absolutely gorgeous to look at, the soundtrack is legitimately fantastic and the gameplay is pretty great too. It's all really well paced and nothing ever overstays its welcome as there's always something new to help keep things fresh, whether it be the music, the environment or the gameplay loop. It also has a pretty touching story to go along with it.

Overall I thought it was great and would highly recommend it. I feel like the soundtrack is going to be one I'll be going back and listening to every now and again.

Literally who is casting this movie? Horrible pick. I think Cate Blanchett as Lillith was a good fit but this is really bad...

The New Game button is actually on the right of the menu. I was just being a dumb and accidentally clicked it without reading properly. However to be fair to myself, this is the pause menu when you're in-game. The quit button is at the right.

However when it goes to the main menu, the exit button is at the top.

You can probably see how I'd have made my mistake.

  • At first, I was completely thrown off by this choice. No diss to Kevin Hart, he can be a funny guy and he’s done some good comedic roles, but as Roland, I wasn’t seeing it at all.

But here’s the thing that I remembered, the Roland in Borderlands 2 is really not the same Roland as Borderlands 1. In BL2, he acts and sounds like a grizzled, no nonsense, serious military commander, one who could inspire and rally the people around him and make some pretty good calls in stressful situations. The Roland in Borderlands 1 is...not that, not even close. If anything, the Roland in BL1 has an almost similar personality as Brick, and his lines read like his as well. I was listening to some of those lines, and don’t tell me you can’t hear someone like Kevin Hart saying them.

Now, that’s not to say I think this is a good choice. If anything, I would have gone with BL2’s characterization of Roland over BL1’s, but if this is the style and character they’re going for, I can see it.

  • Hi, welcome back! We're just hanging out waiting for the next Telltale game to show up, whenever that happens.

    hello

  • Sup, mate.

    Hey!

  • I tried to find it, even through a google search of the site. Nothing.
There was definitely a thread for Season one and Season two, but I can't find it. (maybe it was deleted alongside a user?)

    Hmm
Mods, can you help? I feel like one of you must have made a discussion thread on it, or might have it in your bookmarks. I somehow don't.

  • Long time, no see! Heard you were on @Graysonn 's stream the other day and wondered if you'd drop by for.

    Hey!

  • I honestly can't believe I'm doing this, but in an attempt to try and make some extra money on the side, I'm going to try my hand at...sports betting.

Now I know what you're thinking, trying to make money through gambling is a sure fire way to lose your money, and if you do it in excess, you're 100% right. But, do it responsibly and balanced, set your limits, and know when its best to cut your losses and give up, then it is possible. I'm not one for huge risks and will go for more safe bets than anything else, but if it gives me some extra money on the side, I'll see how it goes. One of the good things about living in New Jersey so I might as well try it out.

Tonight, I put some money down for the Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors game. Need the Nets to win by 8 points or more.

  • Oh yeah, I think that's it. Somehow that wasn't bookmarked for me.
