I think it would be really cool if, somewhere near the start of episode 7, we get a cutscene of Olivia and Axel talking about how Jesse, Pet… morera, and Ivor (they didn't know Lukas was there) have been missing, and try to find them, then you play as them for a few minutes trying to navigate the remains of sky city while it's still covered in monsters. Eventually, they get knocked off the edge into the water and find the portal, then you switch back to Jesse, Petra, Lukas, and Ivor.

Jesse: Alright, here is the portal!
Petra: Lets see if this one is the one … moreto take us home.
Ivor: Expeccially after all of this "Survival Games" nonsense, I don't want to adventure so much anymore.
Lukas: Now we can see Axel and Olivia.
Jesse: Yeah I hope.
Ivor: JUST LIGHT THE PORTAL ALREADY
