Ok, I have a recommendation that I am sure many people would agree with.
Before I state what it is, might I say that I logged on today after school and had 101 notifications, probably all from this thread.
When you bookmark a thread you get notifications for the activity happening on it. I like this. What I dont like is that we get a seperate notification for each and everything that happens on the thread.
Back in 2013 when activity happened on a thread you would get notified of it but not a new notification for each. The notification was a single notification that said "These users commented on this thread (since you last checked it)" along with the profile pictures of all the people who commented. The more people who commented, the more pictures, and the longer the notification became to fit all of the pictures. Scrolling past a bigger than normally sized notification was no biggie. (The pictures were not big at all, very small pictures that fit next to each other. About 10 pictures on each row"
I think this should be better than a new individual notification for each person who comments on the bookmarked thread.
Maybe instead of debating between just blindly accepting the current change and reverting back to the old style, we could discuss improving the current style to a point where at least some of the features whose loss we complain are restored in a new form that is compatible with the linear style and general new way the forums work.
Yes, this is what we were trying to encourage in the first place. Comments like yours (or DLB's comment right after) are good, quality, constructive feedback that can actually help.
Comments like that are more likely to make a positive difference.
If you give us a shit sandwich because you did not want to take the time to work on a steak...do not point out the better garnishes as a way of deflecting that we are being served shit.
Did you miss the explanation where you guys also got new features, and more likely to come in the future?
Current forum features were also improved for you guys, such as PMs.
Seriously though, the PM system is a flat-out massive improvement. So what if there are a few things like that left? Seems kind of overly hopeful to expect to have those already gone. If they were gone, other stuff probably would be gone too. One click, hand covering the side of the screen and boom it's gone forever. Still though, it is a frustrating thing.
Yes.
Can delete them now forever.

So I still have to go through all of the porn in order to delete it, there's no "Delete all" option or a way to just select which ones you want to get rid of? God, even the improvements are poorly implemented.

Quick tip: If you click the arrow in the bottom right of comments next to 'In reply to _____' it'll highlight the comment it's replied to. Be warned that if it's on a different page than you'll be taken to that page.
I think you're being really unfair. What's the positive? People can have fun talking about the ships they like. It's fine if you don't like them, just don't participate in them, but for those who do like them it's really disappointing that they're outright not allowed anymore.
Shipping threads might be coming back sooner than later.
Which also is negative. Shipping threads are horrid on so many levels no ma… moretter if it is younger people or older people who comments ships.
I really don't want to be a downer (well, right now I do actually, because I usually dom't get to be), but what is the positive in Shipping threads?

A fix to that might eventually be coming; I asked about that before you brought it up. I really want to stress that the web team is still capable of updating the site, and I want to vouch for how quickly they've been responding to our feedback in particular cases. If certain things aren't fixed yet, it's certainly not due to a lack of caring. Let's try to focus on more objective and tangible feedback of things that need to be fixed.

I seriously freaking hate this and the fact that the only way to fix this is by it not being linear is very frustrating
I HATE linear because if person d replied to person c who replied to person b who replied to a, you need to keep going back to find the original comment chain in the mess of comments to fully understand the conversation. This is even more frustrating when everything is on different pages.
At this point, whenever I see a comment that I cant fully understand without seeing what they're replying to, I don't even bother clicking "in reply to" because it might be on a different page or all the way up, putting me all the way back.
So much for "better discussions" because now there hardly will be any because now its unnecessarily difficult as fuck to fully follow a single coherent discussion. This is nothing but a huge clustered mess.
Be warned that if it's on a different page than you'll be taken to that page.

Once quote excerpts are added to replies, I seriously don't think it will be that big of a problem.
I don't have the box that says to notify me when someone comments on a bookmarked thread clicked, but I keep getting notifications of people commenting on them anyway.

There might be some other condition causing that? (Threads you replied to, threads you created, replies to you, maybe?). If not, I would try checking the box on Preferences, clicking Save Preferences/refreshing the page, unchecking it after, and seeing what happens. If you still get that, log out and back in and see what happens then.
If you are still having issues, I can let the web team know. But, it sounds like you might have some other condition causing that perhaps.
Be warned that if it's on a different page than you'll be taken to that page.

No, that wont fix hardly anything. The reason is because:

I think that's more of a matter of subjective preference. Back when the Reddit style comments were new, people disliked the thought that someone could reply to a nested comment on a previous page and have no way of knowing. They also didn't like that longer form comments were discouraged in some sense.
Yet, now, you see a lot of people here preferring the Reddit style comments, just as people at the time in Fall 2013's update strongly preferred linear comments and saw Reddit style as a downgrade.

These are my current settings, but I'm still getting these
I've tried different settings, I've tried logging in and out, not doing a damn thing. But hey, we got the likes back, that makes up for everything.
I also want to add that, despite having notifications for when someone posts on my wall, I'm not getting notifications when they do. I went to my wall and saw a couple new comments, no notifications at all.

The issue I had there was that in the height of this forum's popularity(right after the change), the megathread would move almost 10 pages a day and the way they had a set number of posts per page, caused posts to move around. It made finding a post and checking replies beyond tedious for some of us. I think saying "why would you add a reply to a discussion that started 5hrs ago?" Is a bit unreasonable. Now? Obviously it's not the same issue, but if Telltale struck it big again, it would be.
I'm not engaging in any more arguments. I'm just explaining why I disliked that.
PMs are such a vast improvement that I love this new design far more already, the linear reply system will require a tad bit of adjusting but I think I'll like it again.
I mean the linear stuff is kind of confusing but if TT were to just move the comments around in the reddit style again but keep the overall web design and everything else then I’ll be fine. What they could do if they don’t want to do that is just incorporate the comment the person is replying to in the reply itself and keep the “in reply to_____” feature so people can still go back to the original and like it or comment on it.

And at this moment is when I completely disregard everything you say.
Not that I regarded it as important before, but at least now I have full undeniable proof to provide a reason why.

I don't see a delete option anywhere.
It's the "Leave Conversation." I'll send you a PM for you to test it out on man.
So I still have to go through all of the porn in order to delete it, there's no "Delete all" option or a way to just select which ones you want to get rid of? God, even the improvements are poorly implemented.
I can ask about that. Seems like a reasonable thing to implement.

Likes are back by the way. I got 21,467 of them.

I can look into that; doesn't sound like it should be happening.
Most people didn't go back to super old previous pages because those things were already discussed.
Is this comment show up as a notification for Metallica? (Deliberately not tagging nor replying to him)

I do think we need a picture or something in the banner. It looks silly.

Could we have a mobile friendly version? The older format was easier (to me) to use when I was on my phone, and the new format is a bit tricky.
nooooo go back to the simple lay out! man what the hell is this. AND WHERE ARE MY LIKES AT? lmao
we should have an option to go back to the original style or something. i'm all for change but this is new design is just weird.
Yes. Jk u call them what u like
And you’ve just earned 1 more

Wait would it be possible for telltale to implement a feature in the preferences that would allow people to change between reddit or linear?
I just realized you can "heart" your own posts now, please fix (minor problem)
Also please fix the comment system (much less minor problem)
Ima go through all of my comments and heart them
dafuq is dis
Well that's just great!
