Am I the only one reminded of "Day of the Tentacle"? At least by the color-palette (including the logo). DOTT was of course done by Peter Chan.

    Pretty nifty.

Looking forward to the high-res version.

No, but I did notice that monkey's tail around wooden rail, along with the fog on the bottom, looks like a duck.

Creeeeeppyyyyyy. I was just making a news-post about that, as a joke. God bless ya, low-res.

    Dang, that's real nice.
Huh. I was for some reason convinced that the Elaine used for the desktop icon for Siege of Spinner Cay would be part of the image. Guess not. : o

Now I'm just curious about why the monkey has a pipe, but that might not have to be explained.

Looks pretty awesome. Makes me want a CMI and EMI cover made by Mr.Purcell, so I can have the coolest Monkey Island set ever.

If you close your eyes it looks like a three-headed-monkey.

    Ah, so it's a skull, then. :)

    Love it, want it!

Also, has anyone noticed Guybrush's hand in the poster? Noticeably that he's got one and it doesn't look pox-ridden like in the first one but rather very...glowy? And skeletal/ghost-like? Or is it just me imagining things again?
  • edited September 2009
    is that a smokeing monkey?
  • edited September 2009
I too want to know why the monkey has a smoking pipe. It also looks like he's holding a sai, which might be for... dare I say it? Monkey Kombat?
  • edited September 2009
    ...I'm kind of disappointed.

Maybe it's just a bad angle. The face just looks off to me.
  • edited September 2009
I don't like it. The hand seems too forced and the wrong colour. The face looks abit weird. The monkey is smoking (might be revealed why later I suppose) and it doesn't really seem to fit with ToMI theme.

Hey woah, I can understand the first couple things(though I personally like them), but what in the world is wrong with smoking monkey?

Here's another pic from Telltale -- a closer view of the characters (you can see Elaine now):

Since when does the box art have to match the game? Lechuck is a different color entirely on the box art for MI2, for crying out loud, I think a slightly differently colored hand is just fine.

You've got to be kidding me. Are you guys trolling? This poster is awesome.

Those guys are just George Lucas with a troll custome, annoyed for the fact that he haven't got red herrings lately.

Very, very nice! And nice and hi-res to boot!

So Telltale are selling wallpaper now? I would pay a LOT of money for that! *hint hint, wink wink*
  • edited September 2009
you can see the COMI guybrush in that guybrush

How many of these will end up on ebay?
  • edited September 2009
i want that big Poster of the cover art^^ thats what i call high Resolution...
btw did you see the belt Guybrush is wearing under his coat, now he realy looks like the MI2 Guybrush. I think that belt is not ingame, nor on the artwork, only on that cover

That second shot of poster is gorgeous! Now I REALLY want it :(
Is there any chance Telltale would make it available for those of us who were too late and didn't preorder the season (I'd gladly pay more for special edition with this cover)? Pleeeeeease

what the hell is wrong with a smoking monkey ?
Reminds me of the sam and max comics, filled with that kind of stupid little irrelevant details in the background. And the monkey looks pretty badass.

Yet another beautiful piece from the ever so talented Purcell. It matches the earlier covers nicely.

    Errrrrrr... where's LeChuck.
Seems a bit empty to me.

What he/she said. Seems like his previous works had a lot more happening.

The Secret of Monkey Island (Purcell)

    LeChuck's Revenge (Purcell)

The Curse of Monkey Island (Tiller)

    Escape from Monkey Island (?)

Anybody know who made the EMI cover art?

I love the style and the colours. What i'm unsure about is the scene itself. Is it a final or a wip?

I suppose it's a bit different with those games because they were just one solid game, as opposed to episodes, so they had a lot less main characters. In Tales, it's really main characters per episode, so you'd be cramming a lot of them onto the box. The older games there's just the 4 recurring characters and then a couple of others, then the rest is filled out with randomness. That's just a theory though, discard it at will. Actually, I probably am wrong, just looking at them now it seems only EMI tried to get all the characters on the box, SMI and MI2 just have a lot of background stuff going on. MI2 looks so cool.
I am sad LeChuck isn't on it, though.
