Poll: Elaine vs Morgan

With the introduction of Morgan LeFlay, it looks like Guybrush's relationship with Elaine may be tested. Each woman seems to have a loyal band of supporters on the forum.

So what's the demographic breakdown? Do the girls want to see Guybrush be true to his wife, while the guys want to see him get with the hot totty? Let's find out...

Wow, thanks for the awesome response! Here's the breakdown on male vs female opinions so far. Looks like the guys are fairly evenly split, while the girls overwhelmingly prefer Elaine. Very interesting!!

    Great idea to split it into male and female voters. :) I BET more male than female users will vote for Morgan. The votes for Elaine look balanced for now, but that might change over the course of a few days.

    Anyways, I'm female and I think Guybrush should (and will) stay with Elaine. After all, he doesn't even notice Morgan's feelings for him.

    We never do until we realize we have our own. once Elaine is no longer interesting he'll be looking at Morgan like, Daammmmnnnn.

    Yeah Guybrush still seems obsessed with Elaine... its all he talks about much to Morgan's disliking.... and lets not forget he had no problems trying to get
    Morgan to go on a date with Noogie

    Elaine on the other hand? Her loyalties seem more likely to break.

    As interesting as Morgan has made the current events, I'd stay faithful to Elaine nevertheless. Morgan is still very fascinating new character but to actually ditch your wife without a reason....no can do.:cool:

    At the moment ALL the females (5) have voted for Elaine, while the guys are split 58% / 42% in Elaine's favour. Will be interesting to see if that persists...

    Having just finished "Lair of the Leviathan" I gotta vote for Morgan. She's a great character, just very cool overall AND she supports Guybrush in a good way (at least when she's actually on his side!). Also, the fact that I don't like Elaine as much in ToMI as in the other games might have something to do with it as well (don't get me wrong, she's still a good character and all). Anyways, it will be exciting to see how it all plays out in the next episodes. :)

    I can say that Morgan does give Guybrush a little more respect than Elaine gives him... that sort of thing goes a long way for a man.

    But still I vote Elaine.. he worked so hard to get her he shouldn't ruin it now.

    I was going to vote for Morgan (I'm Male), but then I realised she's just like the girl who's looking for excitement, not a relationship. So no reason to get a divorce, there.

    ...maybe the Voodoo Lady would be a better match,
    despite the de Cava thing.

    Morgan is too much of a carbon copy of Elaine, so I vote for the original.

    Morgan all the way. Elaine treats Guybrush like a second class citizen. Morgan and Guybrush work well as a team... even though she chopped his hand off.

    And in my humble opinion, Elaine does love Guybrush (though maybe not as much as he loves her). Would she have been worried sick about him after the explosion on her ship, or would she have been mad at him for losing his wedding ring (along with his hand), if she didn't love him?

    Elaine treats Guybrush like crap; just wants him for his treasure. Morgan genuinely likes Guybrush. Guybrush loves Elaine.

    Classic love triangle... or square if you count Winslow.

    I think Elaine already had more treasure than GT if anything he is the one who married up.

    Having Guybrush and Elaine marry in CMI took away the tension between the two characters. The unreachable governor is much more interesting than the married wife. So I'm not surprised that many people like Morgan. She's unreachable, just like Elaine used to be.

    Eh, Elaine don't give Guybrush no respect, it's Morgan time! Plus Morgan is a far more fleshed out and interesting character.

    Do I think it's actually going to happen? That's another story...

    Regardless TTG can feel proud that they created an all new character that is already so beloved by rabidly faithful MI fans.

    The thing is, I wouldn't really want Guybrush to just "get with" Morgan, it wouldn't be in his character to cheat. However, Elaine already treats him like dirt so it would be more in character for Elaine to leave Guybrush leaving him devastated and opening up a glimmer of a future with Morgan. Maybe there's some material here for Tales of Monkey Island Season 2 eh?

    I really don't think Elaine will leave him...
    There is certainly something fishy going on, but she seems to be honest about Guybrush. And I'll continue to believe in that until ToMI prooves me wrong.

    I'm rooting for Elaine. She loves Guybrush very much, she's just a bit too british and has trouble showing her feelings.
    Actually, I'm hoping the next chapter would have alot of Elaine and Guybrush, so they can work out their problems and get some sparks back. I think the Young Adventurous Elaine is somewhere in there, and the Trail&Execution would bring her back.

    I'd still vote for Morgan. She's alot more of an interesting character really; if everyone's right about Ron Gillbert not wanting Guybrush and her to be married it would've made for alot more interesting encounters. (And imagine if the single Elaine would act a tad jelous at knowing Guybrush had been solving things with Morgan? It'd be fun to watch and at the end of it all, MI is still a comedy.)

    i voted for elaine...her tales interpretation is quite charming actually. also, i would definitely prefer a bossy wife over some over enthusiastic fangirl, that occasionally cuts off some of my limbs, anytime.
    maybe guybrush and elaine will break up, but replacing elaine with morgan wouldn't be the best choice. in that case guybrush might end with no girl at all...

    Definitely, but the 2 remaining episodes may be enough to end all the speculations. Hope for the best, expect the worst.

    I think so too - she simply treats him as a kid, which is, let's admit it, not exactly inappropriate.

    I just finished chapter 3 (stayed up till 6 to finish it! It was way good)

    I think Guybrush should stay with Elaine in the long run , but I really like the romance between Guybrush and Morgan. So for now I would like to see how the whole thing between Morgan evolves and if they get together that would be pretty cool.

    As puzzlebox said over in this thread, Guybrush has done his fair share of mistreating Elaine and she's still in love with him. Wrecked her mansion, turned her into a statue, infected the entire Caribbean with the pox, etc.

    So I don't necessarily think it's fair to simply say that Elaine treats Guybrush badly. They both have their moments, which, just like any TV sitcom couple, is part of what makes them likable (and hilarious!)

    My guess is he'll be with Elaine in the end.
    But actually, in case Morgan is introduced to LeChuck and LeChuck will not be responding to Elaine's flirting action, this is the picture I see:

    Guybrush wants Elaine
    Elaine wants LeChuck
    LeChuck wants Morgan
    Morgan wants Guybrush.
