So I'm running the series again, and here's where I am right now.
I have to admit, when I saw that last line again, I thought "Morgan". That said, I still think he and Elaine make the better couple, despite this rough spot. But hey, what if, right?
Yeah. I liked Elaine in MI1/2. People complain how EfMI ruined her character, but when you consider she was always pushy and self-contained in the first two games EfMI was actually more true to her character (in a way) than the others.
That said, Elaine's character has changed from CoMI onwards and now (given what's happened in the meantime) it's unlikely Guybrush would ever think about other fish in the sea. They've probably been together for going on a decade after all!
Morgan easily, for some reason it just hurts inside when he's mean to her :P She's just too adorable! Don't really like Elaine much really. Would be great to get the choice in the game somewhere, but for some reason I don't think that'll happen :P
Should have a poll option for Guybrush being single..
Between Morgan and Elaine I'd say Morgan though, as Elaine has changed too much from the first Monkey Islands.
When I voted on the poll, I went for Morgan, because Elaine was seriously getting on my nerves with hanging out with LeChuck, and because Morgan is awesome.
But after episode 4... yeah. Never going to happen. But I reckon Guybrush and Morgan can be friends... maybe.
I'm female, I voted Elaine, I spent three bloody games trying to get them together and I will be DARNED if I let all that effort and history get undone for a groupie I barely know!
I like Morgan, she's a Guybrush Fangirl, I'M a Guybrush Fangirl, we're cool, she's one of us. BUT. Morgan has a crush on the Famous Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate. Elaine loved him when he was just That Kid Who Washed Ashore and Tried to Burgle My House. That should count for something.
What's funny to me about all this is that while we're arguing about this, even Morgan is being a realist about it. If I remember, she said from the beginning of Lair of the Leviathan that she knew Guybrush had a wife and was off the table, and even if she held out any illusions of being able to have a relationship with him, I doubt any of those remained past the point where he was totally oblivious that they were flirting.
I think through episode 4, we weren't seeing Morgan view Guybrush as a potential love interest anymore, but as someone who had only treated her as a friend (albeit a friend he didn't trust very much, and with good reason) who she let down and betrayed. I still want to see Morgan finish the game with a happy ending, but at this point I don't think she would find that happy ending with Guybrush.
Hey I agree. It's the important differences that were needed.
Morgan had to knock down one of the three planks for a relationship and do it so badly it would take a long time to repair it even if she could.
Guybrush would be pretty close to Elaine obsessed, but had to still go after her with what seemed to be good reason. (After all he was getting a bit too close to LeChuck's level of obsession)
Elaine had to show she also still loved the entirety of Guybrush. Kid as well as mighty pirate. (Nice change from where we exited CoMI)
Tales 4 did everything we needed to settle things. I suspect Morgan held out some hope during Lair, more than she wanted to admit, and even a little during Trial. But deep down she knows it's Elaine for Guybrush.

And speaking of Morgan...

And for the record I'm a guy :P

So the first thing Telltale did was show us Elaine liked the MIghty Pirate as well.
