You're spoiler tagging for a nine year old game. wtf?
Wow! Way to be unnecessarily judgmental! There are still plenty of people on these forums who haven't played EMI and might have renewed interest in the title now that Monkey Island is back. I figured that putting spoiler tags wasn't exactly going to hurt anyone who had played the game and there might a few people out there that don't want to know this information. That sounds suspiciously like the actual purpose of spoiler tags.
I apologize to all the people who have been offended by me adding spoiler tags and I hope that one day you will find room in your heart to forgive me and this terrible crime that I have committed

Jeez, I was only teasing. That's one thing I hate about the internet, it's so much harder to detect sarcasm. I apologize for my poor taste in humor, and while I totally understand your concern with new fans of the series, I fear that your attempts are for naught with all the other people here throwing around MI4 spoilers like crazy, though perhaps you can set an example.
Cudos to Tell Tale. When Morgan was stabbed by DeSinge I felt outraged. The subtle tone change in Guybrush's voice in the room after that also conveyed very well how depressed he felt about it. I ended up staying up for a couple of hours extra after that so as to try to find out if there'd be a way to save Morgan. Maybe Chapter 5 will have Guybrush and Morgan working together in the underworld? I still don't like Elaine and I really wanted her to go off with LeChuck.

I think that's because she is a child...and he felt bad about it?? People in here don't seem to use their brains and hearts to think...everything has to be sexual or a sign of romantic interest when anyone shows any affection...
I think the ending of chapter 4 , Guybrush's and Elaine's finale scene in that episode tells everything we need to know about their love for one another.
In the case of this poll, I don't see how it matters what gender we are, but okay.
I voted Elaine because she and Guybrush have always been funny together and entertaining to watch. I don't feel the same with Morgan, and I don't find her as endearing. Guybrush and Elaine are total opposites but the chemistry is just there. Attractions can't really be explained, they just exist.
I also don't understand the people who mention Elaine doesn't respect him as a pirate. What was that whole "you don't spend several years at the side of Guybrush Threepwood, mighty pirate, without picking up a few tricks" about, then?
i think most people prefer morgan because elaine is presented not as good as in earlier parts of MI. I mean lets take MI3 as an example: Elaine is full of spirits and you just have to like her.
As I experienced Elaine in ToMI til now she is more like that girlfriend you have since 5 years and she's only gettin on your nervs and you asked yourself what you actually like on her...
In the case of this poll, I don't see how it matters what gender we are, but okay.
I think the present result makes it quite obvious. If I had to guess how different genders would vote I would anticipate the same pattern we see right now. Women like faithful relationships, men are more likely attracted by the "hot and young adventure" ... While I'm glad that the men are far less agreed about that.
In my opinion women understand the subtlety and quiet consensus between Guybrush and Elaine way better, which is clearly there, I think.
Like I already stated in this poll: I can't quite follow why you seriously vote for Morgan. Not only because of the strong relationship between Elaine and Guybrush (which survived everything that happened by now), but also because of the (in my opinion) boring outlooks of a relationship between Morgan and Guybrush after, let's say, two month. <yaaaawn> "Yeah, it was nice, but, you know... yeah."
Long story short: I like the gender differentiation and find it rather interesting than unnecessary.

I couldn't agree more with both of you. Chapter Four made it clear that Guybrush and Elaine love each other and none else. Guybrush was oblivious to Morgan's approaches, and in the end he only saw her betrayal, but when he saw her
dying in De Singe's lab
, he probably felt guilty because
Morgan was trying to get his hand back
. And Elaine told LeChuck
to go to hell (no wonder, he just killed her husband!)
. I rest my case.
And GuruGuru214's spoilers really make me look forward to Chapter Five!
I think that's because she is a child...and he felt bad about it?? People in here don't seem to use their brains and hearts to think...everything has to be sexual or a sign of romantic interest when anyone shows any affection...

Sorry, I tend to think more with my genitals than anything that really matters. I know what you mean though, Guybrush was sad because he just lost his BIGGEST fan. Guybrush may have disagreed with her choices, but she didn't have to die for them.

This, though I think that in part it's because the pox made her far less agreeable than she normally would've been. She was just as great as before in the final cutscene, after she was cured of the pox.
I think the other advantage Morgan has is sympathy. We see through chapters 3 and 4 that she's not as happy with her profession and lifestyle as she originally made it seem. I know that at least in my case, it's not so much that I want Guybrush to get Morgan as it is that I just don't want to see Morgan end up alone.

I voted that Guybrush should get with Morgan, but only to pep up the dynamic further (though i'm not sure it's right for MI). If I were Guybrush i'd stay with Elaine for exactly the reasons you state! Elaine's relationship with Guybrush is made for longevity; within five years Morgan will get bored with her hero and will be gallivanting off through the Caribbean, leaving a bitter 30-something Guybrush.
And looking at the post that's popped up above mine, this seems to be the difference in men's opinions. Some see the sensitive side of Morgan, some see the sexy side, some don't like Elaine, some don't like Morgan, and some still see the reason why Elaine was the "Morgan" in the older games.
The sexy-side seems to be a heavy factor, and one which doesn't play with the majority of women, so it does give more fair results.
I never knew that fans of the franchise were like this...:o
To hop between threads.. that was indeed disturbing. I sincerely hope the hard way is by stabbing her once more to ensure she's utterly dead..
it's not so much that I want Guybrush to get Morgan as it is that I just don't want to see Morgan end up alone.
And that exactly! It was a saddening moment to see her
sobbing away in Club 41, while Guybrush could only rant on about the betrayal, even though she was clearly unhappy
-Lost a hand
-Got mocked his every action, because he wasn't being "mighty" or "piratey" enough
-Built trust, and then was betrayed.
-By being knocked out.
-And having his ship stolen.
-And being kidnapped.
-To be delivered to a man that she believed would kill him.
-For money.
Morgan:
-Got lots of money
-Feels sad
-But not QUITE sad enough to help Guybrush at all during his trial.
No, there is no gender bias in our reactions to people's situations at all. =P

Guybrush got screwed over more or less just as bad as he does in every other adventure (how many times has his crew mutinied?). Morgan sees that a very large portion of his misfortune this time around is her fault, but in order to stick to the standards of her profession, she can't do a thing about it. The majority of Morgan's story in this chapter was a slow realization that she wasn't willing to accept the cost of the way she was living her life, and when she finally worked up the nerve to change (in essence, admitting that everything she knew was wrong), she paid the ultimate price for it.
Up until this point, Guybrush's story was basically the same "well how the heck is he gonna get out of this one?" it always is, albeit with a bit of a twist from the betrayal aspect of it. Plus Guybrush (for the most part) takes his misfortunes in stride better than Morgan does, possibly because this is pretty much how his life always is. Smile and the world smiles with you and all that.
But really, you can spin it whatever way you want to depict either character as having the sadder story.
I really like Morgan and I think she's definitely one of the best and most interesting MI characters ever. But Guybrush should not ditch Elaine for her! Elaine is perfect wife for Guybrush because she is caring, clever, responsible and not reckless - Guybrush needs someone like her. Because I don't want Morgan to disappear forever, I think she should just be a crew member.
I think the present result makes it quite obvious. If I had to guess how different genders would vote I would anticipate the same pattern we see right now. Women like faithful relationships, men are more likely attracted by the "hot and young adventure" ... While I'm glad that the men are far less agreed about that.
I have to disagree that that's the only reason. Sure there are probably some who are, but I think alot of the men also felt that Elaine was not a good fit and seemed to just be pushing Guybrush around while the women were just seeing him being a 'good husband', aka 'doing what he's told', as despite what many of them say women do love to be in command. *Me awaits the onslaught for that* Both men and women like to be the centre of attention from their significant others, Guybrush gave attention to Elaine which is why women like him so, while men disliked Elaine because of how it appeared that she didn't give him attention.
As for actual voting, I'm not gonna vote at all, since I'm more inclined to go with the story and see what happens, I have no personal investment beyond what makes the story good and fits, and so far I haven't seen anything yet to swing me one way or the other. I'll admit that Morgan did have more sympathy from me at first, but alot of that was because she had significantly more screentime so we got to know her better whereas Elaine had been shown to be a bit more 1 dimensional and self-absorbed, however in ep4 this shifted when Elaine bashed down the doors and charged in like a demented pirate queen. She suddenly had alot of character development for me, and while she seemed to view Guybrush as a possession rather than a person (yeah pox blah blah blah) I actually liked that, gave her a more piratey feeling, but then again maybe I'm just strange.

Wow, that was intended to be sarcasm  No offense but I think you need to work on your sarcasm I know people go spilling those facts all over the place and personally I don't like it, that's why I use spoiler tags maybe more often that would be normal. It probably doesn't make any difference in the grand scheme of things but it helps me sleep at night

Well, hey, look on the bright side of our misunderstanding, it got a little bit of discussion going about it, which raises a little more awareness about what you're doing and why you're doing it.

Somehow, I feel like the wrong person to discuss this with you, given how I've been posting those spoilerific Nintendo Power scans all over these forums. Though I suppose I do give fair warning that they spoil bits of chapter 5...
On a side note, the actress (Nicki Rapp) who does the voice of Morgan has a blog. Hmmm, she also did the voices of characters in the Sims series of games.

Oh, I didn't want to imply this "hot young adventure" was the only reason for the present voting result. Of course it isn't. But certainly many of whom are attracted by these characteristics of Morgan aren't aware of that. I just think that many men voting for Morgan have a little crush on her, because she is so cute and exciting and pitiable in the fourth episode and of course - in general seems like an adorable person, you would like to make happy.
And it's beyond all question, that your decision depends on the picture you have of Elaine. For my part I never disliked her like many others seem to do. Actually not at all, I love her character. As well as the kind of relationship Guybrush has with her... But I'm going replay right now. I think I already wrote all that in a prior post (or two).
And about this "being in command"-stuff: If I take a look at the gender ratio in this forum you're pretty much out of danger.
By the way, I never thought Elaine was in command of Guybrush. Nor the other way around.
Like you I am going to see what happens. But that doesn't change the fact, that everybody has a tendency in which way he/she would like it to see. I can hardly imagine anybody wouldn't care.
And I just want to make that point again: I'm not judging anyone for wanting Morgan to be with Guybrush. I just wouldn't like it and am trying to explain why.
Soooo... In the end we should just enjoy whatever the outcome is. I don't think anybody will be seriously disappointed. At least I hope so.

I think we'll have to agree to...agree! Just thought I'd point out the other reasons, and some people apparently like dominant women anyway, so that's not necessarily a bad thing...
As to the ratio of men to women, as long as there is at least one woman who might get offended, you're never safe!
I didn't know that I was in the minority before I started getting into the forums. I always personally thought that Elaine and Guybrush were the cutest couple in all of gaming. They're both very flawed individuals, yet its still evident that they are absolutely in love with each other. Although they work well independently, they are still part of each other and it seems that that'll never change. She's the sweet one and he's the charming one. They're perfect for each other.
I'm not going to go out and say that Morgan's a terrible person, as she's definitely regretful for the things she's done, she's just not the right person for Guybrush. She's pretty young and I see her as more having a crush on her idol, which isn't that all that farfetched.
And to put it out there, I'm not really partial to either of the lasses. I just think that it's pretty obvious that Guybrush works well with Elaine and vise-versa.
I love both characters. Both are strong-willed, kickass and beautiful ladies. But Guybrush and Elaine have been an item since the beginning. I just can't see how a relationship that started with a romantic idol-thievery incident could end in a split over another woman. Besides, Elaine is smarter and more level-headed, Morgan is more emotionally-driven and unstable even though she pretends to be cold and calculating.
And Guybrush is just sickeningly smitten with his wife, following her around like a puppy-dog. It's hard to imagine he'd leave her.
I have no idea how anyone can be vouching for a Morgan/Guybrush relationship after the final scene of Episode 4 unless they're completely callous and misogynistic.
Why? It makes sense - they're both
dead
...
Sorry, I know it's bad taste, but I couldn't let this by
I still vote for Elaine and Guybrush to be a couple. Morgan seemed conflicted and had trouble figuring out what she wanted. Elaine's only excuse was the pox but otherwise I don't think she would ever stab Guybrush in the back and risk him dying like Morgan did. I'd enjoy it if Morgan got a happy ending cause she seems like a complex and interesting character.
I was hoping Morgan would fix some of her betrayal during the trial. I just hope they don't turn Morgan into LeChuck's undead bride or minion to end this "love fight" or whatever you want to call it.

I would have saved her before the end of chapter 4 if I could :p:p:p:p
In my hopes she's not dead anyway
Too bad Morgan is fictional (and a cartoon), otherwise, she could have been with me. ^_^
And Guybrush is just sickeningly smitten with his wife, following her around like a puppy-dog. It's hard to imagine he'd leave her.
I'm a girl, by the way, and I voted for Elaine.
Why? It makes sense - they're both
Sorry, I know it's bad taste, but I couldn't let this by
You're saying Elaine is more level-headed after seeing what she did in this chapter?
Seriously though, now that she's cured of the pox, I have to say you're right. But before that happened...yeesh.
Oh, sorry, I should have specified "pox-free" Elaine.
Thank you. Now I'll sleep well
