Of course you realize, you just made a ton of people search you on Google Images who wouldn't have before.

Seriously, look around this place. Besides, if you continue to hide behind this excuse, I'll be forced to start a thread specifically about your nickname on the GD board. Later. I'm going to bed. Your secret is safe for now...from me, at least.

Hmmm...I have a guess on how you got it so here it goes.
when you where ten years of age, you were sent out into the woods of Romania's with nothing more, of course you were alone in these woods. Your quest was to save the world, from the evil clutches of Nistaroph, by the time you had spent weeks in the woods, winter hit with no signs of food or water, an aged Silver Wolf named Adel, fed you and trained you..to be a strong warrior and when the massive battle ensued Adel lost his life, enraged by this you killed Nistaroph, and had a funeral pyre for adel, as his ashes rose to the sky, you vowed to never let his name die, in vain. The people of the surrounding village heard of this and started calling you the pet of silver wolf. So now you call yourself SilverWolfPet in Adels honor.

Is he, I mean clearly according to the lore I posted he calls himself adel in honor of the person who trained him.
  • edited December 2009
AFAIK SWP has never referred to himself as "Adel". It's a nickname Tpravetz came up with for him.

Adel doesn't need an epic legend. He lives one.

    You people are nuts.

    = ) ) )

Oookay, here's how it REALLY went:
I met a girl. She was smart AND cute, a rarity nowadays. She had an account on Hi5. Yuck, I never liked these socialising sites... Buuut, it would've been a cool way to keep in touch with her. Sooo, I created myself a Hi5 account.
Yeah... all because of a girl. I was 17 years old, if I remember correctly.
When I had to choose the nickname, it asked for an e-mail address. I didn't want to use MY e-mail... so I made one up. Went to yahoo, wrote "Wolf". Rats, it was taken.
Silver is my favorite color so... "SilverWolf"...nope... "Silver_Wolf"...nu-uh... "Silver.Wolf"...nnnnope.
Finally, I thought that I should add another word...but something really nice so that she'll find it cute. I added Pet. Pets are cute, right?
I created my Hi5 profile (which is still active today, but I don't use it so don't bother...). I sen her a friend invitation, all that stuff... she never replyed. Didn't befriend me on Hi5...didn't reply to my messages... Even if we actually knew eachother in the real world.
So I got stuck with a silly name and no girlfriend. I later found out that she did like the name, she just didn't like me.

Months later... I wanted to comment some clip on youtube. It asked for an account. I said to myself, sure, why not? SilverWolfPet.
I started adding clips... people liked them... they started asking me stuff and PM me going like "Hey, SilverWolfPet, I wanna know this and that...".
I grew fond of the name... and now it became my Alias on the Net. I do, however, mention as often as I can that my real name is Andrei, because some friends/old colleagues/distant family members, can't find me online so easily.

So there you have it. It all began, like all good stories, because of a girl. :)

Oookay, here's how it REALLY went:

    ...

This is the story of Andrei,
Who made a Hi5 to try to get a girl.
Though he sent her messages over the web
    She never really liked him...
    And so he cried.

How many times did he refresh
His inbox with hope but nothing was there
Why wouldn't she just write him back?
    Message after message going unread...

    All the hours he's spending
Writing and typing these letters to you
Why won't you open just one
He keeps on refreshing c'mon cut him a break

He logs in to check five hundred times each day
Never a response, it's always the same
You never seem to have anything to say...

This is the story of Andrei... :D

For those who didn't get it...this is the tune.

Wow, Mr. Adel. That story was so heartwarming. I prefer to go with the basics though. My name; Tom Pravetz. Pravetz is not a very common last name, so I always get TPravetz.

Monkey 05 06 ...have you ever heard of the term "Stuffed Monkey"? :p Nice one... I'll try to add it to my "Collection of weeeeeird fan tributes".
Pravetz is a cool name... It can be a Hero's name or a villain's name... it sounds... manly! Or just... german. I dunno. I'll have to ask Majus.
Speaking of which, what will you guys give me to tell you the story behind Majus' nickname? >:-]

I'd tell you the story behind my user name, but it's boring. My yahoo user name is more interesting, but not nearly as interesting as the SWP story.
  • edited December 2009
Deal... I'm interested in hearing your stories (interesting or not).

Majus' nickname was created so that people won't recognise him as being Marius. He used to be a secret agent, double lives and all that... for KFC.
He had to hide his real identity. Nobody will think that Majus is connected to Marius Fietzek that appears in the credits for each ToMI episode. Genius! Pure genius! Just two letters off.

Okay, I kept my part of the bargain.. your turn.

The name Icebox came from an old movie called The Little Giants. The main character was a girl who everyone thought couldn't play football, or something like that. Her nickname was also Icebox. I don't know where the "me" part of "Iceboxme" came from. I think my brother added that as a joke to one of the accounts he had made for me and I just kinda went with it.
There you have it. A boring story.

Well...mine is an interesting tale of decit, and enlightened ment.

So this takes place back in highschool. I was 15 at the time, and I was in the theatre. My girlfriend of six months, said she didn't want to be with me anymore so she found someone better, I was in an Emo phase at life at the time.(With out the cutting.) So, I started writing poems, and listening to this band Iced Earth, and being in my Emo state of mind, I felt hopeless so when it asked for an acount name on the poetry site..I picked Iced(For the Band.) and Hope, because I felt all depressed and hopeless... SO I WAS LIKE FROZEN HOPE...but it sounded stupid and I thought for a seocond about it, and well..IcedHope was born.

My user name is a shameless reference to the best game (series) of all time, Monkey Island. I was feeling quite original as you can tell, so of course I logically had to add some numbers to the end to make it more original. :D

So at the time the numbers had a few separate meanings:

-2005-2006 was my senior year in high school.
-I was anxiously awaiting the upcoming installments of Harry Potter...
-I was more anxiously demanding the announcement of upcoming Monkey Island games 5 and 6

And I think that was it at the time. Since then there's also a sort of gag about how long I've used AGS without making a game..."How long can monkey go using AGS without actually making a game?" "Oh...5 Or 6 years..." :D

I got my first computer in 2000 and went through a short series of names that didn't stick (leave it to a 13 year old to call himself Pokelover13). Then my friend got me into Zelda a year or two later and I absolutely loved the Song of Storms. If you were to look at my notebooks from 8th grade, you'd find a lot of doodles of windmills. So it didn't take long for me to start naming myself after this guy.

    Guru-guru.png

As for the 214? Honestly, I don't know. I think I stole it from the friend who got me into Zelda, from back when he called himself Zora214. I don't know where he got it either.

My first forum was a harry potter forum, so I used HP= harry potter, and the likelike shield-eating enemy from the legend of zelda.

EDIT: Heh, still have the old profile pic I made. man, that was a long time ago. I think this is the first animation I've ever done.

This topic deserves its own thread!

I started using "puzzlebox" when I was 12 years old, because I thought this thing was cool:

    Attachment not found.

There are 4 different puzzles you need to solve to open the box. It's from a Sierra adventure game called Lighthouse.

It's interesting how many other people are still using IDs that they chose years ago and just kind of stuck with. :)
