Hmm, we seem to have plenty of animators already, don't we?
Oh well, maybe I could still be useful elsewhere.

Here's a couple of the animations I did for assignments this year in Flash. One's a lipsync with an attempt at acting and the other is just quiet animation:

And just for kicks, the one thing in my DeviantArt account I'm the most proud of:
    http://unicorn-foal.deviantart.com/art/SA-Chapter-1-Title-102779462
(I've got just the one bit of MI fanart up there right now, but it's sketchy and spoilery for ep4, so I won't bother linking to it. :) )

I'd love to take part of this project, but I don't know what I am useful for.
I'm probably useless for voiceacting since I am only 15 years old, but if there's something you need, please send me a respond and I'll see what I can do.

Greyweed, if you want you could send an example of your voice, just in case you are suitable for a character. You never know!

Mainly your artwork. And anything else you'd like to tryout for.

You have a very flexible style. I like your work... Let's see what Scrawffler thinks.

Guybrush has a very immature voice. I don't mean this in a rude way, just to clear that up, but Guybrush has that very young voice. Are you good at drawing as well? Or can you help with scripting?

So what style are we after? CMI? Movie concept? Tales concept/cover? Something totally different?

I'd be honoured to lend my voice to any of the required characters. I've got a voice123 page but it's sadly malnurished with demos, but I can do a few different accents, pitchs, emotions etc. (Plus Im just plain easy, hah). I use MSN, Skype etc as well with a uni-directional condensor mic, so whichever is best. My regular voice is probably aussie-accented but like I say, it's quite easy with a little warm up to lower pitch and style. (I'm working on Unknown Hinson's voice just for laughs come the work christmas party.)

Could you load up some demos like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSuig8e0DjQ) to a MP3 and post them up on a site like MegaUpload?

Well, I don't have public domain songs or sound effects, but leave it with me, I'll get something up and working.

    Working on BG
  • edited November 2009
It's sadly not up to my usual scratch: between dodging work and family I manage to steal some time away to quickly record this. (Coming into summer too the fans had to be shut off so they dont interfere in the background).

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5UDBSKF0

d'Oro hunts for the might Power Pirate Playset (with swinging trap doors), de Singe informs a poor patient that the splinter in his leg has gone bad, Noogie tries a dating video (my worst I admit, I had his voice in my head but not in my throat), Stan tries to sell pre-used internet access (which is actually an inter-island net of lines that ferries messages in bottles, currently unavailable in Spinner Cay), and for fun, Judge Grindstump tells Guybrush that pirates who represent themslves have fools for clients.
I wanted to do a Moose impression and Crimpdidgit's "Glass Unicorns!" but if I really want to get that kind of scratchy voice it helps to prepare for it, and I just didnt have the time today. (Thank God for weekends.)

Great work, zammap! You've got that CMI style nailed! It'll be cool if you do have time to try one or two other styles, but the CMI style looks like a safe way to go.

Takun, I was very impressed with your recordings! We'll let you know more once we've made a decision :)

Sure thing, de Singe was easy, and Stan was fun (I tried to immitate his SP: SMI voice). Guybrush is just my normal voice in a higher pitch, plus I tried to leech any accent out of it. I'll scribble up a small script for them each and work on it.

It's not much of a script, I just tried to think of something funny between de Singe, Stan and Guybrush together.

de Singe: Now zen, if we turn zis ‘ere, and add zat there... ah oui! It iz coming togezere! Soon, I, ze Marquis de Singe will have created ze greatest invention since zat slimy beggair stole sliced bread from moi! Nevair again will those clumsy pirates find themselves lost upon ze briney blue sea, non! With this little darling’ upun they’re ships, they will all find their way back ‘ere to Flotsam.. and my operating table!

Stan: Step right up folks and check out the brand new invention to be sweeping the Spanish Main! Have you ever found yourself drifting through the seas lost or alone? Well, fear no more as I bring you the latest technology from Monkey Island, the Great People Searcher! Yes, just install one of these babies into your cabin, quarters or crow’s nest, and the GPS will immediately search for any people (or highly intelligent dolphins) and point out they’re location to you in an instant! Never again be lost with a genuine GPS! Now you’re probably asking yourself, Gee Stan, how can you be offering me such a fantastic item so cheaply and at such high quality that it doesn’t even need a warranty? Well folks, I’m going on holiday tomorrow, and I need my suitcase!

Guybrush: Ah, there’s no other life! Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty pirate, cruising the ocean, looking for treasure.. wondering if this stupid GPS thingy I got from Stan will actually work... Huh. That.. island looks really familiar.. Nah! It couldn’t be...

Here's my tryout for Human LeChuck...

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T7BCL4RR

I tried to do it as closely as possible to the original, but still in little places my natural tone and voice keeps appearing.
Anyway, tell me what you think :D

Ugh, not gonna draw anymore at the moment. My tablet is shot so trying to get some painterly backgrounds is taking forever!
Gonna wait until next paycheck to get my new tablet.

But considering this is a low non budget animation I don't think getting a style more advanced then what was done would be silly. The BG style can still be detailed but, again, not going anywhere with this tablet

    CMIBG.png

I will however draw some more characters up in different personal styles.

I'm from Argentina, and sometimes my natural accent bothers a lot when talking english. Especially when there are many "t"'s on one same sentece. I get so stuck sometimes! :p
Buy anyway, I'll try an american accent :D

This sounds great! Will you be needing bg music, by any chance?

If so, let me know if you'd like to hear samples or something. It's been a while since I last worked on instrumentals, but I might have something suitable for showing, around, somewhere... I think. :)

I think writing the script is our most important task as of right now... So... We really need to get the main points of LotSN. I'm going to replay it. It'd be great if I had somebody else playing it and jotting down notes (important event/character, great quotes) too. :) Great work guys. Keep it up!
