Creepy Ribs, you came in at the perfect moment. :D

Just sent my address to Tpravetz, so would you like to have it too then?

You don't have a clue how GLAD I actually am this is not a dead project. I have enough trouble with another one which everyone just _believes_ to be dead...

edit: Seems like I'm having issues with Google again. -.-

He can forward it to me. My role, it appears, will just be to look over it and make sure there aren't glaring errors. Sort of the editor. I wouldn't mind a writing a bit, as I did write the 'I wonder what happens in I wonder what happens in Tales of Monkey Island: Rise of the Pirate God: The Game' storyline/opening scene.

What a beautiful short name for a game, eh. :)
And since I'm finding myself joining a group that is actually active with a load of creative people around, I'm pretty optimistic about all this.

    New name for the Film?

Hey, guys! I know I haven't been in this thread for a while, but I really love community projects, and still want to help.
I know we still need someone to play Elaine. I can audition, but it'd have to be over the weekend. Just send me some lines you want me to record (or did you want me to ad-lib?), and I'll see what I can do.
  • edited December 2009
@Tpravetz: Sounds good, but as long we haven't got anything like e.g. part of the script or some raw character sketches etc. we won't really come further with just the title. Advertising the project will only really make sense when we have something solid and bulletproof in our hands.

@Maxilyah: I sense competition! :P But I was going to audition for all the female roles anyway. I don't know if I really do sound like any character from the game. (Although I was told I'd be a match for Elaine... huh.)

Great! Just ad lib it... It doesn't really matter what you say.

Yes, we still need a solid script. And trying out? Sure, show me what you got.

So, are you looking for a close voice match for the characters, or more of a parody, kind of like in Majus' series?

Because I'd love to try out for a couple of parts! I just need to know what to aim for...
  • edited December 2009
I think we're going for a paro-match. It doesn't have to be spot on, as long as you sound the part. For instance, Takun doesn't sound like Stan, but he has that "salesman vibe."

All right, here are my auditions! You'll find Murray, Zombie LeChuck, DeSinge, DeCava and Moose below! I was just making stuff up as I recorded, so I hope it sounds all right!

Any feedback you have is most welcome!

I couldn't help but notice that we haven't had a "Guess the Release Date of 'I Wonder What Happened in Tales of Monkey Island Launch of the Screaming Narwhal' or 'I Know Why the Caged Narwhal Screams' " thread yet.

Heh. We're not that famous yet, haydenwce27.

And LowMoralFiber, sorry I haven't gotten to that yet. I plan to listen soon!

    Do you still need writers?

I threw something together for an introduction before going directly into the action, if anyone is interested. It's with a narrator summing up the situation. I'll let you see for yourself:
Okay, so basically there is this guy who goes around telling people "I'm Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate" (said by GB's voice actor, while showing GB on screen), but apparently nobody's paying attention because they all get his name wrong, except after he's dead. Which doesn't happen for a while.
Anyway, he's trying to kill that...er... well it used to be a ghost, then a zombie, then I kinda lost track (showing LeChuck's various forms, with music and probably some mwahahah style sounds from LeChuck). But he's undead, and a pirate too. His name is LeChuck.
LeChuck wants to steal Guybrush's wife, Elaine (showing Elaine), who is a Governor of a bazillion different islands, none of which show up in this game. You'd think she could hire good bodyguards with that kind of resume, but instead she gets kidnapped.
(Shift to her being kidnapped on the ship, start of the action)

If you already have ideas and just need refining, I'm willing to help, you know, to the limit of my capacities. I can't do anything as far as drawing, animating or music go, but I can try writing, editing or even audition for a voice if I buy a mike first. Just tell me what you still need and I'm on board!

    Welcome to the team avistew!

Thanks! I'm gonna start writing down my ideas right away in case they end up being useful.

EDIT: by the way, I'm now on waves, and although I haven't figured out quite how it works yet, since I'm told I can invite people too, feel free to send me your email if you want.
  • edited December 2009
Okay, I added up what I wrote with what you wrote before, and added some ideas. It's a "complete script" in that it extents from the beginning of the episode to the end, but I summed things up, skipped some, etc, it needs a lot more work. But I thought I'd get this going a bit more (hopefully it's okay to post this here rather than in wave?

    (snipped)

    THE END.

As I said, I tried to sum things up because it's easier to add more stuff than to remove it, and we don't want it to be too long or detailed. Feel free to contribute and comment and change stuff and everything, since it's a group effort.

Oh, and I didn't bother writing down the marquis's accent because I feel it's a pain to write it down and read it, and we all know he's got a French accent anyways, I doubt whoever voices him will just forget.

The reason we're doing it on Wave is to keep it confidential...

Here, I removed it. But if it's confidential, quoting it all was a bad idea :P

Ribs, I'll PM you my address!

Hmm... I have a lot of catching up to do. Had some more little ideas, but I'll send them to you all over wave since we're keeping it confidential.

So, what exactly are these flashfilms going to feature? Are they basically a comical review and summary of the events that occurred in each episode, or am I totally wrong there?

Based on our still very early draft of the script, I'd say it's like Majus' summary of SOMI, but longer, and for TOMI.

Ah, wonderful! Will we have both an english and german version? :D
  • edited January 2010
Well, I speak fluent German and I would love to translate it. :) (Might turn out to be a weird experience going through all the trouble translating jokes and puns though... :D)

You'll have to do that. And tell the actors how to pronounce every thing... Puns! I love puns!
  • edited January 2010
Sounds like a plan. I wish you the best of luck with the translation - could be challenging but if you do manage it that'd be great!
  • edited January 2010
@Tom: You mean the voice actors for the English version will also have to do it for the German one? :D (And in that case, should the ones speaking German try to sound like Americans trying to speak German? :D)
@Scrawffler: Thank you, I'll try my best. :) (And it is indeed going to be a huge challenge...)

complicated. It's like saying the dog is a cat when it's a cat disquised as a dog who is really a fish.

I... hate to seem like a nag, but I posted my auditions almost one month ago, and the only feedback I've gotten is from Maxilyah in the "Declarion of War" thread. Could someone please tell me what they think?

Positive or negative, I would love to hear something!

    Here they are again!

Very nice, I like most of the voices.
There are some recording quality issues you should look into though.
