I think writing the script is our most important task as of right now... So... We really need to get the main points of LotSN. I'm going to replay it. It'd be great if I had somebody else playing it and jotting down notes (important event/character, great quotes) too. :) Great work guys. Keep it up!

    Hmm...

    LeChuck has Kidnapped Elaine.
    Guybrush arrives with his sword.
Sword turns LeChuck Human with a big VooDoo explosion.
Guybrush washes on shore with a green hand, asks how to get off, Nipperkin suggests doing him a favour first by making up some stories.
Guybrush meets Winslow and captures The Screaming Narwhal.
Guybrush causes a brawl in Club 41 (on accident).
Guybrush meets d'Oro and fakes a treasure.
Nipperkin sends him to his "source", the VooDoo lady and learns of his green hand.
Visits the doctor in the meantime before having to escape (if its in the style of Wonder What Happens.. he could just as easily break the chair accidentally).
Follows the Doctor to the wind device and just plays with it until it blows outwards. (If all the statue puzzles were shown it'd be a bit too much like an animated walkthrough yknow?)
Doctor swears revenge, Guybrush hops on board his ship and leaves and thinks about how there'll be no consequences in time for a sword to appear behind him.

Thats my quick list of Launch in a nutshell. It's not to the T of course but if it's a quick animation, youd just want the basic structure, right?

Guybrush wakes up on the LOST island...

There's a "doctor" on both islands

Then we can have a silly MONKEY ISLAND word in white slowly comming towards the screen and getting into focus (like the lost intro) with monkey sounds in the BG.
    :O

    and and and...

Hey guys, look at my really lame attempts at voice acting. I only did one take for each lol

    It's just unfunny ranting

    voodoo lady: http://www.supload.com/sound_confirm.php?get=1055160051.wav
    Elaine: http://www.supload.com/sound_confirm.php?get=940893697.wav
    Morgan: http://www.supload.com/sound_confirm.php?get=227764595.wav

I tried doing de Singe but I kept sounding like an Italian man.

I'll try harder once I have competition for those roles.

Also may I suggest, I truly thought that krebbs was voiced by a man in the game. We should have someone with a really manly voice do her, like that chick from the venture bothers.

Cool! Just curious. Can you try to match Zammaps CoMI style?

Er... I can try. :( I don't think I can though. The only style I've managed to successfully emulate so far is the Homestar Runner one, and only because it's a very simple one. The cartoony detail of CMI is almost impossible for me.

(... um, I turned out to be pretty crap, didn't I? This is why I took so long to actually start speaking up on these forums... >.> )

Have you tried drawing some backgrounds?

Um, you want to seriously see my crappy backgrounds? Haven't you wondered why every picture I draw is in a featureless white expanse (with the exception of my comics)?
Seriously, here is my latest actual attempt at a background:
    http://unicorn-foal.deviantart.com/art/TellTale-Halloween-Contest-145031231
And this one is my best attempt at one, and it doesn't have a foreground!

Nice! And I agree with Takun, I think you'd be great as Morgan!

unicornfoal, like zammap said, it would be cool if you can try some backgrounds. :) We have some character animators on board but if someone could do some nice backgrounds, that would be really helpful!
EDIT: Never mind, you beat me to it! XD (I obviously took too long writing this)

C'mooon, it's december 1st! Or 1st of december... I never got the order in which you say the date in english... anyway...
    How's the progress?
  • edited November 2009
Usually it'd be "December 1st", but the other way is acceptable too. And now I go back to ignoring this thread so I'll be totally surprised.

It's going... Just need voice actors and writers. I would say with LotSN, you can expect too see it in December... Sorry that's broad, but that's the best I can say right now. (Unless you wanted to help out of course Mr. WolfPet. :)

I was wrong- I looked and looked and it turns out I have NOTHING even remotely similar to what I'd write as background music for a Monkey Island-ish setting, a ha haha ha *headdesk*.

But I'm guessing there's not much time for me to write something Monkey Islandish and upload it... Or is there? (How much time IS there, actually?)

In any case, let me know if you want to wait for me to write something more adequate or if just showing you something that has nothing to do with it, like this or this, works. Those two are very rough exercises (I mean "rough." Terrible piano playing, terrible mixing, boring ideas, low tempo, unoriginal, and so on). I made these when I was re-teaching myself how to use this music software, but most of my current stuff are background tracks, and I don't want to upload that just yet, so I guess this'll have to do unless you wait for me to try something Monkey Island-ish (if you'd still like me to take part in this, of course). Ah, I really need to get working on a music portfolio for real.

( btw Tpravetz, I'm a Ms. Lurker. Nice to meet you! :) )

I'll listen to them tonight! We have time. LotSN will take the longest to get out (we have to get actors, most new information, yada yada yada...)

(Lurkers are always nice. Hello other lurkers! :))

I agree, Zammap makes a great Morgan. And that's from someone who has played Morgan before. It's not an easy part to play.
Tpravetz, I'll try and write up some kind of sample script tomorrow. If I don't have time tomorrow, then probably Thursday, but it'll probably be done by tomorrow. Is that alright?

It doesn't have to be a whole script. Maybe a few excerpts and ideas...

    (For example:

Guybrush: This is what I'll be saying at some random point in the animation.
    Morgan: What?
    Guybrush: I don't know...
    LeChuck: Unholy this!

Hey, here's an idea! [idea here])

    Ok?
  • edited December 2009
    Sure, that sounds good!
But I have to warn you, I get kind of carried away when I write, so it'll probably be more than just a few lines.

Eh, sorry. It's just that I'm only good at animation and drawing characters, and it looks like I won't get to help out with either! :(

(talented? surely you're not talking about the backgrounds... xD random blobs of colour =/= talent. xD)

I'm still working on trying to imitate Zammap's style. Didn't have time today to draw (finishing off everything for my animation course = highly stressful artist) so it might take a while. :)

Whew! If there's time, don't mind what I linked before, since it really has NOTHING to do with anything, lol. I'd much rather come up with something standard that you'll probably be able to use, and then you can tell me if you want to use it or if you'd like me to come up with something else (in which case I'll need details about settings or specific situations) :).

I'll try to have something ready by next week.

Crappy script. Only look if you want the beginning to be ruined, or you're working on it.

GT:Hello, my name is Guybrush Threepwood and I...
    EM: Guuuyyybruuushhh!!!
GT: Coming plunder bunny! Just need to get my rootbeer! (...) Oop... Uhh... Where did I put that recipe... (louder) Almost done sugarboots! (soflty again) Oh, there it is! Hmmm, rare root? This castus should do! Hmm... Just put this in that... Grog, yeah! Hmm... (dips sword) Die LeChuck! Except for real this time...
    LC:Awrrgghh! ... Wha? I'm... Human?
GT: Aw dammit... (stab stab stab stab) Why (stab) won't (stab) you (stab) die! (stab stab) (hand slap) Ow!
(fire goes, ship goes boom, guybrush goes flying)

I know it's pretty terrible. I just made it up on spot, but now we have a somewhat stable base...

My second audition for the Human LeChuck part:

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RELRQSUY

I don't know if I managed to make it sound very different to the first audition, but I think I got pretty near of the original voice. At least, that's why I think, but as I said, I'm not really sure.

Anyway, I hope I did a better job on this one :D
